No Sound From MOV Files With Windows 7 64bit
Jul 16, 2012I think it's a 64bit codec problem. I tried installing essentials codecs and K-lite codecs but no audio yet, neither with wmp nor vlc.

No Sound At All / Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
May 7, 2012System was fine. Started it up this morning and all my sound was gone. I've re-installed the Asus drivers 50x. Tried the same in Safe Mode. I am using an external speaker set-up. They are Altec Lansing speakers. They have a powered sub and left and right main speakers and also left and right rear speakers. I don't have the rear speakers connected and I haven't for years(without issue).Anyway, booted up this morning and I have no sound from Windows, the internet, or my music or movies.

Oct 15, 2011I have a optical (for sound) and a HDMI (video card only can output video) going out on my comp to my home receiver. Everthing was working fine on XP but when I upgraded to Windows 7 64bit I lost the sound. I have updated the motherboard drivers and still nothing. The only thing i can see that may be a problem is when i go under Control panel> hardware sound> change system sound> properties it show that the S/PDIF jack info shows rear panel RCA Jack. I have my Optical cable plugged in. I have no idea if this is the problem but i cannot change the jack information.

Jan 6, 2011Got a New Windows 7 machine about two months ago. Recently discovered about a week ago that the only thing that will actually run is Internet Explorer 64 Bit. Ive bootedd into Safe Mode (with Networking and Non Networking options) and had the same results.I dont think I have a virus but as I cannot run any programs I cannot check. I think that this is some sort of Windows Error. Ive tried to use the In Built 'Startup Repair' and also the 'Memory Diagnostic' Tools, which have returned no errors.Also Ive tried, certain exex file registry fixes which are out there, and these dont work. I have some Excel files on my desktop which which I click them I get the following Error 'There was a problem sending the command to the program'I have not got any restore points which go back far enough before this issue. Also do not have the CD.

Mar 20, 2011Everything was running fine, and all of a sudden I can not open .exe files unless i run them as an administrator. When I try to run them, the cursor does its 'loading' thing and then nothing open on the screen. I check processes under task manager and the program is open, but is not on my taskbar, or open anywhere on my screen. This is happening to about 90% of my programs.This is the second time I have had this problem. I had it before, and I did a clean re-install of windows 7 64-bit, and it happened again.I have tried multiple fixes, and nothing has worked so far. The driver for my Asus Xonar D2X sound card is what looks to be the culprit. I have no idea why and now I have to find a way to install the driver so I can use my card without this happening again.

Directory Displays But Files Do Not - In Windows 7 64bit
Apr 8, 2011I have a Windows 7 laptop that I have had in my possession since last November 2010.
The files I transferred from an older Windows Vista system - to this new Windows 7 system - were fully functioning then and are fully functioning now (editable, savable, movable, etc.).
Shortly after transferring said files (regarding software and web development projects), I noticed a few directories were not behaving normally. Normal behavior would be defined as the ability to open a particular non-system directory and immediately see the files within that directly displayed in a list.
The misbehaving directories I speak of can be opened, but (1) they appear empty, (2) the vertical scroll bars to the right of the directories "flicker" off an on at a millisecond pace, and (3) the region at the bottom left hand corner of these directories where the number of items is listed . . . displays the actual number of items and, then, displays ZERO items (e.g. flashing back and forth between "185 items" and "0 items").
I can access (copy, edit, save, move, etc.) all of the files (.html, .jpg, and .mov) within various web design applications, Adobe Photoshop, and Apple QuickTime with no problem whatsoever.
Outside of these few misbehaving directories, my entire system appears to be fine.
On the other hand, if I attempt to copy the contents of these directories (from within Photoshop, etc.) into newly created directories . . . and, then, attempt to open up those directories from my desktop (as I would normally do), the same problem occurs.
Whether new directory or existing directory - the same files will not display. Even if I add new files to those directories, those new files meet the same end.
I have two other Windows 7 laptops - as well as an external hard drive - and none of those devices have trouble displaying the contents of the problematic directories I have described.
It would be easy and irritating and painful enough to reformat my system to see if that fixes the issue(s), but I would really like to trace the specific symptom to a specific KNOWN source . . . before falling back on a complete wipe out that may not be necessary.

Sep 18, 2010I am trying to install Windows 7 64 bit on my system and it freezes during expanding files. I searched all forums and information thats available online, tried everything that was listed but no solution yet.
My system is Foxconn P9657AB-8EKRS2H LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard, Intel Quad Core Processor, 6 GB RAM on 3 slots, I had a 250 GB before this process but i bought a 1 TB 7200 RPM HD thinking that it would solve the problem somehow.
I took out all USB items including mouse & keyboard and using PS2 mouse/kb now. Also took out 2 RAMs leaving only one 2 GB. Now the machine only has the mother board, processor, video card, 2 gb ram, ps2 mouse & keyboard, and the monitors.
I checked BIOS, and i have the latest update. Tried everything on BIOS from setting it to Safe Mode, Disabling all USB ports, Internal Audio Device, and pretty much everything that i found online. Im just yet to flush the BIOS, change DVD drive and install it from a flash drive.

However, when I hide my files/folders and then search for one of the file names in the Start Menu search bar, the file will show up despite it be hidden and the 'Do not show hidden files' option is checked. I also attempted to put a password on the folder (one folder has all the files I want hidden) using this site for a guideline: How to create a Password Protected Folder in Windows 7hen I lock the folder, I can still search for the files in the Start Menu search bar and they will open without the password. Is there a better site or program to effectively lock my folder/files? And what can I do to prevent the Start Up search from looking for my hidden files.

Other sound drivers that do not have a error are another high def audio controller which are both in the system devices section, and then theres a hdmi audio controller in speakers and sound section. I then tried to disable then uninstall all sound drivers and try again which gave me the same result as above.Now after unstalling it one click on speaker and it installs windows audio drivers which do not work.

All are indicating Working Properly. But my Vista system sounds and all audio movie/recording playback has suddenly vanished. I've tried to make sure all the software audio systems are not muted or turned off, disabled, all turned to max volume. The stereo/bass sytem works fine on another PC and that other working system also doesn't work on the Dell 435MT. This also happened some time ago and a system restore recovered it but now my restore has not worked (not old enough?). The only recent events are normal updates on system and drivers and a fault with an AcGenral.dll when an exe file is launched. The motherboard seems to work ok as tapping the microphone leads to sound out on the speakers.
