Nov 7, 2008According to Microsoft Hybrid SLI and CrossFireX are unstable and provide poor user experiences and as a result they will not be natively supported in Windows 7.

Feb 9, 2009Installed Win 7 over an old Intel 865GBF main board (Intel Extreme on board graphics controller with shared mem). Getting the graphics drivers to work is so frustrating!!
Everything works fine except:
It installs the standard VGA driver by default -- which doesn't allow my LCD/TV to go full res (1680x1050). Also, no updates for the same.
If I install the Intel drivers from the website, (in XP compatibility mode) they work fine, except keep hanging whenever there is any video playing (WMP / Flash / etc) and generally Windows 7 becomes crashy/hangy. There are no drivers for the 865 mobo from Intel (only support till winXP).
Any ideas?
Can Amd Apu's Support Dual Monitors
Mar 6, 2012I am trying to buy a laptop and it has a amd a6-3400m processor, Those processors are suppose to be able to handle video. my question is does the built in gpu support 2 monitors were you can move a program back and forth between the two monitors or is it mirrored.

Mar 2, 2009Anyway i have 2 22" LCD Monitors and when i plug them in. Windows 7 does this weird thing were when you select the option to extend the desktop spanning from left to right. Instead of simply scrolling from the left screen to the right screen with your hand as you usually would with any OS, Windows 7 BETA somewhat reverses it were you have to scroll to the left from your 1st monitor to get the 2nd monitor. (sorry if this is really confusing im having a differculty writing this also haha)
And if you select your monitor on your left to be your primary monitor, it will wont do that it will move the it to your right monitor instead so i decided to physically switch the monitors around on my desk to get it normal. but i don't like the idea of my computer telling me what to do hahaha.
I know its a beta OS but its still based somewhat on vista. ive got the latest drivers for my graphics card and my graphics card is a NVIDIA 260GTX so its pretty meaty and it can do dual monitor fine on other os's.
Dual Monitor Support Issue
Jun 30, 2009i have just realized a problem, or a glitch in windows 7. i have a dual monitor and when i shift my icons into the other monitor and restart the icons just come back and don't stay in display 2, but come back to the primary monitor, any buddy have the same problem. its as though windows dint even save that change of mine, or does it have an option to put all icons on monitor 2.

Jul 7, 2012On my laptop, the drive is encrypted with TrueCrypt and I don't know whether it is better to have my PC set to sleep, hibernate or hybrid sleep when I close the lid. I kind of want the fastest, but most secure option though.
Also, in the TrueCrypt options menu it says Auto dismount when entering power saving mode. Is that sleep? And is dismounting when it encrypts it again?

May 13, 2011My Windows 7 randomly entering sleep mode and not waking up. I've found one of the things that can fix it is to disable hybrid sleep. However, I can't see that option. My account is automatically set as administrator so I should beable to see the "Change the unavailable power settings" option but I don't.

Sep 25, 2012I've been trying to migrate Windows 7 to a new 250G Seagate Hybrid SSD.I used Clonezilla to clone the three parititions (the main C: drive with Windows, the 100M hinden drive and the recovery drive - don't know if this is HP specific?). The cloning worked fine. I then disconnect the original HDD and restarted. When the PC boots from the new hybrid drive - it just has the flashing cursor in the top left hand corner of the screen? I've tried running the Windows repair disk several times - it did some work but to no effect. It did though recognise the partition where Windows was and labled it C:.Every time I boot from the disk it just gives me the flashing cursor in the top corner of the screen.

May 4, 2012Just upgrade my server with a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H mobo and a G630T processor. Installed Windows 7 Ultimate. For some reason I don't see the options for hybrid sleep or hibernate in advanced power options menu. Generally, I believe they are supposed to be under sleep in the advanced menu but only "Sleep After" and "Allow wake timers" are present in the menu. I haven't upgraded to a new mobo in years and in my old mobo there was an option to enable S3 sleep. This mobo has options to enable wake timer, WOL, and a couple of others but nothing to disable to enable hybrid sleep. My system seems to still go to sleep ok but the lack of the two options seems odd to me and wanted to see if anyone possibly had a similar problem.

Sep 4, 2009I have a problem with the hybrid sleep mode.
Whenever I try to put my notebook in sleep mode everything works ok, also normally waking up the system.
But when I disconnect the power cord and restart the system, Windows tries to resume its state but suddenly stops with a black screen and a blinking cursor.
I have absolutely no problems with normal sleep and normal hibernate (shutdown -h).
For a short time hybrid sleep worked only when I put the system to sleep with the notebook FN keys, but not through the Win start menu.
Now it doesn't work at all. Maybe this was also just a coincidence.
Can anyone help me?
Extremely Slow Boot After Hybrid Sleep
May 10, 2011I use Windows 7 Pro x64 in my Car PC.Hybrid Sleep is enabled, because my CarPC-PSU only keeps up the 5V rail for 18 Hours. After that the power is shut down.When I wake the PC from standby (within the 18 hours), everything works fine. Windows responds within a few seconds.If the PC has been put to standby and the PSU shuts down the 5V rail, the startup from hybrid sleep/hibernate is extremely slow. It takes approx. 5 minutes before I can use Windows again.What's strange is: When I put the PC to sleep/hibernate manually and boot it up again, everything is MUCH faster. Normal hibernate boot I'd guess.Only when the PC initially was put to hybrid standby and power cutted off it boots that slow.I can replicate the same behaviour on my Desktop PC.
-Boot from Standby: Really Fast
-Boot from manual Hibernation: Normal
-Boot from Hybrid Standby atfter PowerOff: Extremely slow

It had Windows 8 and I couldn't stand it...I changed the BIOS settings from Intel Smart Response to AHCI, used Wipe Drive, (which detected the hybrid SSD as two separate hard drives) to format both hard drives, installed Windows 7 on the 32gb Hard Drive (I assume this is the SSD part), and everything went great.But when I click MyComputer, it only shows 32GB as my hard drive, how do I set the settings where it would show the rest of the hard drive that is not SSD?Whenever I change the AHCI setting back to Intel Smart Response Technology, it gives me a brief Blue Screen of Death briefly, then restarts in a loop.

Native Screen Resolution
Jul 2, 2012i recently upgraded my OS from winxp sp3 to win7 pro. Before the upgrade my native screen resolution is 1360x768 and after the upgrade, it has changed to 1900x1080, i dont like the change although it gives me bigger space on my desktop, but it seems everything on my screen are smaller than before. I always design in photoshop and when i make banners, its really small i dont see the details. I tried to change the resolution back to 1360x768 but when i do, its not that sharp, kinda blurry.

Cannot Get A Native 1680x1050 Resolution
Nov 3, 2011westinghouse lcm 22w3 monitor my native resolution worked fine on my old comp. got a new comp, with windows 7 64bit. and wont display my native resolution. pretty much all resolutions except mine...and some very close to the correct one. only goes up to 1600x1200 (what im using right now)
how do i get the right resolution? i have an ati radeon hd 4250 integrated graphics card.
its bugging me SOOO bad how im so close to the right resolution, but everything is off ever so slightly. the person i bought the computer from was telling me how i might get the correct resolution if i switch from my current vga cable, to a dvi cable. he said id get my native resolution, and it'd look better.
if there are any drivers i do need to update.. i dont know what ones they are, or where to get them. im used to having xp..this is my first night of having windows 7, and im unfamiliar with every single this on this computer.. so bare with me.
edit: id like to add that after i right click and go to screen resolution, and click update driver, it says its up to date. also, the "display" is being read as "generic non pnp monitor" which is odd, because my monitor IS a pnp.

I have installed Windows 7 (clean) and the latest Catalyst drivers for my ATI HD4850 card. My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 2243NW, a 22" panel with a native res of 1680 x 1050. I have installed the monitor driver from Samsung's website and the monitor is now showing correctly in device manager.
When I right click on the desktop and choose "screen resolution", the "change the appearance of your display" screen offers only "display device on DVI" ion the drop down menu, not the Samsung monitor, and does not offer me the native resolution. The nearest is 1440 x 900. If I click "advanced" I'm taken to the catalyst driver screen which correctly identifies the monitor, but bizarrely still offers only the same choices of resolution as the Windows 7 screen. 1680 x 1050 just isn't there.
Can anyone help me get my monitor to run at native res in Windows 7?
Monitor Not Displaying Native Resolution
Oct 27, 2009I'm having trouble getting my monitor to display at its maximum resolution and I cannot for the life of me figure out what's wrong.
I have an ASUS VH242H 23.6" Monitor which has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080. I originally had windows xp and it could display this resolution just fine. Now, after installing windows 7, when I hook the monitor up to my laptop, I can only get it to display up 1400x1200. Going past this point causes the monitor to flas an out of range message. Furthermore, my computer won't let me designate the refresh rate as far as I can tell. I updated the driver for my graphics card and that didn't seem to make a difference.
I have an HP nw8440 Mobile Workstation with a ATI FireGL v5200 GPU.
Install Xp To Second Hard Drive On Native Win 7 64 Bit
Jan 13, 2010The main thrust to all this is:why can't win 7 tell me or let me install an os to a separate hard drive that's ready to go for an install.
I have a hard drive that is recognized in win 7/recognized confirmed formatted, NTFS basic, primary partition active.
I want to install xp pro on it. But i can't get the install disc in the cd drive to ask/search for this drive [f] to install on.
Tried copying all disc files to install to the desired drive, but again, get message have newer ms os[assume win 7 which is only on "c" drive].I don;t know why no path is offered.
Not able to find help answer to this.
I did see related post about using an acronis home 10 drive image: no goof proof answers there- I have another xp- xp media center 2005 imaged on acronis from that computer.
that's my first choice.
Goal: to get functionality for blu-ray playback. needed software compatibility not in win 7 64bit [yet?]
software needed to support> anydvd hd, elby virtual clone,powerdvd ulta 9 for iso image playback.
1st pick-aconis image,don't care about getting on line,registered or anything to disable my registered xp media center on the acronis image. I just want its full remote functionality.
2nd pick- xp pro; I should get back program funtions without the remote ability.
3rd pick- Vista home premium 64bit, which had full functionality; being in a holiday hurry, I skipped making backup copies of this os that originally came with the computer [gateway DX4200]
which did run everything.
I install upgrade win 7 64 via custom to be clean.
I hate vista,and now will have to spend $ i don;t have just to order installation discs, but doable.
I assumed all this would be easy.

Nov 16, 2012I got my friends laptop to reinstall Windows, but after doing so I've lost the option to set the resolution to its native 1600x900. I've downloaded all the drivers necessary from the Toshiba website, but still no avail. After installing CCC and running it, it says "There are currently no settings that can be configured using AMD Control Center." I googled a bit and it seems I'm stuck in default VGA mode. When I go to check display adapter properties, it does indeed say VGA adapter. The laptop model is Toshiba Satellite L775D-S7220.
