Why IE9 does not have a native spell-check capability? All other browsers seem to have it. Is there a technical reason that prevents IE from having this? Has MS ever explained why spell-check is not included as a feature of IE (especially in 9 Beta and RC)?
how do you turn on spell check for Windows 7???? moranacus has chosen the best answer to his/her question.Click here to view the answer that was selected.
Windows 7 and Microsoft office 2010 Spell check does not work. You get a message that this section is complete , etc.Not one mispelled word is found. I have read other people's comments on other sites.
I'm trying to connect with a linksys wireless adapter, but diagnostics keep telling me that wireless capability is turned off. Thing is, it's a desktop, so there's no switch or function keys.
Whenever my Sony laptop is turned back on and I choose IE, I am unable to connect. After I choose the diagnose connection problem button, I receive the message wireless capability is turned off and then a button to apply the fix..When that is chosen, it then turns the wireless on and provides access to the internet. I am using Windows 7 & Norton Internet Security. How can I correct it so that it starts with wireless capability.
My new computer has a Dutch spelling checker (Windows 7) but I write most of my e-mails and other documents in English and would like an English spell checker. Can I download an English version of the spell checker from somewhere but at the same time keep the Dutch spelling checker?
I have a desktop computer, and have a D-Link DWA-510 wireless network adapter installed. Though I cannot pick up any wireless networks even though I know there are wireless networks as my iPhone picks them up.
I have tried the following:
1/ Clicking on the wireless/internet icon (not sure what to called it, it's the icon that brings up network and sharing) located on the bottom right of the bottom task bar. though no networks show up.
2/ Adding a new wirless network via 'Network and Sharing' option - though when windows does a search for networks it never stops searching.
3/ Installing the new drivers from the D-Link website
If I look at the back of the tower the network card that I have the external antenna connected to has one static green light lit. So I gather it is installed correctly as it is lit and it was installed when I brought the computer, although if I go to device manager it is not listed under Networks?!. I have triedto search on turning the wireless capability on though I cannot find a solution that actualy turns it on.
I just downloaded the newest version of Internet Explorer 9 Beta 64-bit. However, I'm a bit disappointed that I didn't find a spellchecker embedded into their new browser. I'm used to iespell in the 32-bit browser, but it does not load in the 64-bit browser. I like to use the spell checker at various times as I post on forums and other places and would like to have something "watching my back" as I type.
System Wide spell checker? Does Win 7 have a system wide spell checker, something that will highlight all misspelled words with red underlining, then allow you to right-click on it to select the correct spelling? My win 7 was doing it for a while now it has stopped?
Have recently returned my laptop to factory settings, increased the memory and installed Windows7 and have now lost the wireless capability - usually switched on using Fn+F1 buttons.
Just yesterday my I year old punched the keyboard of my Notebook here and there when I was working. I show a couple of dialogs popping up and getting closed when he was punching. And all of sudden I lost my wireless connection, in a strange way.
The WIFI card is disabled, the physical button on the laptop is red indicating that it is disabled. When I press it to switch the wifi back on, the switch dont respond WWhen I run network diagnostic: error is: Wireless capability is turned off. But I see no option to turn it on. I checked the network adapters through the Control panel and also in the device manager. They are up and running. No yellow sign, no ! marks. Restarted several times. No change. Restarted in safe mode. Deleted the device in device manager and reinstalled. No change. Disabled firewall. No change. (DO I need to restart after disabling?) Checked the manual for Key combinations to toggle wireless on off. But there were non.
Where is the switch on the front or side of the computer, or function keys if available, to enable wireless capability on the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop?
i read that windows 7 has native support for mkv files. yet when i try to open an mkv file in media center it doesnt work. am i missing something? im running Windows 7 pro
i recently upgraded my OS from winxp sp3 to win7 pro. Before the upgrade my native screen resolution is 1360x768 and after the upgrade, it has changed to 1900x1080, i dont like the change although it gives me bigger space on my desktop, but it seems everything on my screen are smaller than before. I always design in photoshop and when i make banners, its really small i dont see the details. I tried to change the resolution back to 1360x768 but when i do, its not that sharp, kinda blurry.
The adaptec site states that the drivers for this controller are native in the Windows Vista CD, could this possibly mean that they will be present in the Windows 7 bublic beta build?
If not, I have Vista x64 drivers ready to install.
westinghouse lcm 22w3 monitor my native resolution worked fine on my old comp. got a new comp, with windows 7 64bit. and wont display my native resolution. pretty much all resolutions except mine...and some very close to the correct one. only goes up to 1600x1200 (what im using right now)
how do i get the right resolution? i have an ati radeon hd 4250 integrated graphics card.
its bugging me SOOO bad how im so close to the right resolution, but everything is off ever so slightly. the person i bought the computer from was telling me how i might get the correct resolution if i switch from my current vga cable, to a dvi cable. he said id get my native resolution, and it'd look better.
if there are any drivers i do need to update.. i dont know what ones they are, or where to get them. im used to having xp..this is my first night of having windows 7, and im unfamiliar with every single this on this computer.. so bare with me.
edit: id like to add that after i right click and go to screen resolution, and click update driver, it says its up to date. also, the "display" is being read as "generic non pnp monitor" which is odd, because my monitor IS a pnp.
I've had this card now for ~2 months, and it has worked flawlessly, up until now. Out of nowhere my monitors native res. of 1920x1080 is not an option in the control panel (it says display device generic pnp...or something like that) In Nvidia control panel 1920x1080 is an option however when i choose it and click apply it reverts back to the incorrect resolution (1024x 768 i think it was)the option for display device is something like GTX 580 generic-non PnP...
i have burned 2 movie files onto disks and each time althought the picture is perfect their is no sound at all. but the files will play with sound when played directly by windows media. Both files are .AVI Files.
I don't know whether this is a Windows 7 problem or a Catalyst problem, but here goes...
I have installed Windows 7 (clean) and the latest Catalyst drivers for my ATI HD4850 card. My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 2243NW, a 22" panel with a native res of 1680 x 1050. I have installed the monitor driver from Samsung's website and the monitor is now showing correctly in device manager.
When I right click on the desktop and choose "screen resolution", the "change the appearance of your display" screen offers only "display device on DVI" ion the drop down menu, not the Samsung monitor, and does not offer me the native resolution. The nearest is 1440 x 900. If I click "advanced" I'm taken to the catalyst driver screen which correctly identifies the monitor, but bizarrely still offers only the same choices of resolution as the Windows 7 screen. 1680 x 1050 just isn't there.
Can anyone help me get my monitor to run at native res in Windows 7?
Installed Win 7 over an old Intel 865GBF main board (Intel Extreme on board graphics controller with shared mem). Getting the graphics drivers to work is so frustrating!!
Everything works fine except:
It installs the standard VGA driver by default -- which doesn't allow my LCD/TV to go full res (1680x1050). Also, no updates for the same.
If I install the Intel drivers from the website, (in XP compatibility mode) they work fine, except keep hanging whenever there is any video playing (WMP / Flash / etc) and generally Windows 7 becomes crashy/hangy. There are no drivers for the 865 mobo from Intel (only support till winXP).
According to Microsoft Hybrid SLI and CrossFireX are unstable and provide poor user experiences and as a result they will not be natively supported in Windows 7.
I'm having trouble getting my monitor to display at its maximum resolution and I cannot for the life of me figure out what's wrong.
I have an ASUS VH242H 23.6" Monitor which has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080. I originally had windows xp and it could display this resolution just fine. Now, after installing windows 7, when I hook the monitor up to my laptop, I can only get it to display up 1400x1200. Going past this point causes the monitor to flas an out of range message. Furthermore, my computer won't let me designate the refresh rate as far as I can tell. I updated the driver for my graphics card and that didn't seem to make a difference.
I have an HP nw8440 Mobile Workstation with a ATI FireGL v5200 GPU.
The main thrust to all this is:why can't win 7 tell me or let me install an os to a separate hard drive that's ready to go for an install.
I have a hard drive that is recognized in win 7/recognized confirmed formatted, NTFS basic, primary partition active.
I want to install xp pro on it. But i can't get the install disc in the cd drive to ask/search for this drive [f] to install on.
Tried copying all disc files to install to the desired drive, but again, get message have newer ms os[assume win 7 which is only on "c" drive].I don;t know why no path is offered.
Not able to find help answer to this.
I did see related post about using an acronis home 10 drive image: no goof proof answers there- I have another xp- xp media center 2005 imaged on acronis from that computer.
that's my first choice.
Goal: to get functionality for blu-ray playback. needed software compatibility not in win 7 64bit [yet?]
software needed to support> anydvd hd, elby virtual clone, powerdvd ulta 9 for iso image playback.
1st pick-aconis image, don't care about getting on line, registered or anything to disable my registered xp media center on the acronis image. I just want its full remote functionality. 2nd pick- xp pro; I should get back program funtions without the remote ability.
3rd pick- Vista home premium 64bit, which had full functionality; being in a holiday hurry, I skipped making backup copies of this os that originally came with the computer [gateway DX4200]
which did run everything.
I install upgrade win 7 64 via custom to be clean.
I hate vista, and now will have to spend $ i don;t have just to order installation discs, but doable. I assumed all this would be easy.
