No Last Opened Programs In Startmenu
Apr 4, 2009My startmenu just stays unchanged. I am on build 7068 64bit. On the previous builds the recently opened programs were listed in my startmenu with the jumplists.
The settings are right.

Is there a tweak that anyone knows that can make the All Programs in the start menu expand like it did with XP?
I don't know why MS made it the way they did without giving an option to expand it if we wanted to.
Start Menu All programs does not display any Icons, its just blank which of course leaves the system somewhat crippled. Does the same thing from the Administrators account as well.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently after I finished editing a .txt file in WordPad, I closed out of the program, but then immediately opened it back up because I forgot to change something. The program loaded, and I could see it and it's preview on the taskbar, but it would not show up on my screen. I hadn't installed or modified anything very recently also. Then later that day, after opening up Google Chrome, it did the same thing. I would not show the window on my screen. When I minimized and maximized the window from the taskbar, the animation showed the window going to the far right hand side and off the monitor. When I pressed "Windows Key +Tab" it showed the window, but wouldn't bring it to the front again. I'm not sure what is going on with my computer.

In the start menu the games I play don't go higher up the list, in fact they keep getting pushed down until they aren't even in the menu at all by programs that I run once in a blue moon.
Games should be ordered by how frequently they are used, the same way that all other programs are, despite the fact that there is a games folder.
...and yes, I'm aware that games can be pinned to the start menu.
If i minimize all my programs and see my background on desktop. If i open up internet explorer, all the other programs minimized will open up in the background! It's really anoying...What could the problem be?I use 1920x1080 in desktop and in games for example. And if i play Heroes of Newerth and i alt-tab, IE appears in the background of Heroes of Newerth and i can still see it beeing in the background. I tried differented "fullscreen/windowed mode" stuff there, but no difference.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt mostly happens in Lightwave 9.6 and Photoshop CS2. So the problem is that when I open a drop down menu in those programs the program either flickers a lot or it goes in the background and I have to alt+tab to get it back every time. It is really annoying because I can't do almost all important things in Lightwave and I can't save images in other formats in Photoshop beacuse of the drop down menu, and in other programs it flickers a lot and is just annoying.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently opened programs does not appear in the start menu.Windows help shows Click to open Taskbar and Start Menu Properties. Click the Start Menu tab, and then click Customize. In the Customize Start Menu dialog box, in the Number of recent programs to display box, enter the number of programs you want to display on the Start menu, click OK, and then click OK again. Both the check boxes are disabled so I cannot make any changes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn regards to the order of the program buttons on the task bar, is there a way to get Win7 to put the buttons in order of the way the programs are opened and not rearrange them? For example, I usually have my mailbox and my web browser open. (Nothing pinned to the task bar.) Mail is on the far left, browser is directly to the right of mail. If I go into mail and open an item in my inbox, I would expect (and like) the new task that shows in the task bar to be positioned to the right of the Browser button. Instead, it inserts itself to the right of Mail and pushes the Browser button to the right.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI'd like to make my Start Menu bigger (increase its height, to be specific). I've seen someone post a screenshot here: http://news.softpedia.com/images/news2/Build-a-Monster-Windows-7-Start-M... Unfortunately, he didn't talk about how to achieve this.
I know that I can go into the Start Menu and Taskbar Properties menu > Customize > Start menu size and then and increase the number of recent programs to display, however, I really do not like to display recently opened programs (sorry to seem difficult). Is there any way to make the start menu size bigger without displaying recently opened programs?
I am running win 7 64bit and all of a sudden all my desktop icons disappeared along with my start menu and my right click function. Ctrl-alt-del brings up the option to access the task manger but it fails to display it. safe mode is fine and when I create a new admin account (admin account 2) all is well. is there a way to fix this problem as i have a year old system restore that I dont want to use. I was hoping to fix my admin account 1 as it has all my settings, programs etc. Can this be fixed and if not is there a way to copy all settings (looks, programs, firefox settings etc) to the admin account 2.

I usually prevent these things from booting in my startup folders, msconfig and the task scheduler. The problem is that when these updaters update programs they reset themselves to start in msconfig etc.Which is ridiculous. I don't ever wan't or need itunes helper. I shouldn't have to constantly disable it as a startup itemAlso, I wan't to prevent programs from ever installing desktop shortcuts or items in my startup folder unless they explicitly ask me. I feel like my computer is constantly being attacked at these location and I need a way to control them:

IPv4 restored, but no icons, no StartMenu function.I remember a similar problem with an XP upgrade that required altering Registry values in REGEDIT.. but i cannot find those notes.

My home page is Google and when I boot up the message >Your profile could not be opened correctly. Some features may not be available. Please check that the profile exists and you have permission to read and write its contents< without the arrow heads.I have tried keying the message into Google, but there doesn't seem to be a cure up to now. Does anyone have the same problem? If so, have you been able to find an answer. My pc is clean.

Everything still works, its just that the screen doesn't turn on.

The "sort by date created" manages to show the photos as soon as the folder is opened without needing to spend the time sorting, the problem is this sort criteria doesn't quite have the photos in order. a few are randomly placed here and there.
