No Confirmation Box Whilst Downloading Through Any Browser
Nov 20, 2011
I recently got a new PC. Whenever I try to download a file through ANY browser, there is no "confirmation box" (to be more specific, the popup box that shows asking what to do with the file before you begin to download it). The confirmation box only shows up once the file has fully downloaded. This is kinda frustrating as I'd like to see details whilst downloading files. I have tried Chrome, Firefox, Opera and even IE, all of these yield the same results. I've tried disabling Microsoft Security Essentials to see if that was interfering with downloading, but that was to no avail.
My specs:
Intel Core i7-2600k
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 1155 socket
Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 6950 2GB
8GB of RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
I am currently using Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit edition and just recently whenever I am downloading anything my computer will freeze for around 2 seconds and the download connection will restart to 0.00mb/s then start to connect back up to its full speed again. This happens I'd say around every 15 minutes and has started to become very annoying as you can imagine as a large file can take hours to download when it should only take half the time.
2 nights in a row my machine has shut down instantly whilst i have been downloading many torrents via utorre### and playing skyrim or within seconds of closing down skyrim. to start up the machine i have to switch of the psu and unplug it. then plug it back in and witch it on. i have experienced these types of crashes before on a diferent machine. a have a sturdy 1000w psu. and even though i have multi tasked these two programs before. this is the beginning of a bad day
I d/l and installed Firefox to see 'what it's all about'. I liked it. However, one day I was downloading some files and closed the browser. I noticed that when I did this all downloads terminated and left me with incomplete files. Since IE has never behaved this way I was most upset and gave Firefox the boot. This was many versions ago and am wondering if it still does this.
In Win7, if I click on Shutdown it shuts down (duh!) without prompting for confirmation. I like the confirmation in XP, it keeps me from making stupid mistakes. Well, some of them, anyway. To make things worse, logout and switch user are on a little tab off of Shutdown, so sometimes I hit Shutdown by mistake. Can this be configured to prompt for confirmation?
im planning to get a win 7 pro upgrade license, because they dont offer home premium any more, i just want to make sure that i shouldn't have much if any problem installing it, as im putting a new ssd with no windows on it at all in it.
how to recover a lost confirmation page. I entered a lottery visa today. I wanted to print the confirmation page but firefox was not responding. At the request of my aunt, I clicked the option to close the firefox program. I restarted firefox and the confirmation page did not reappear. The tab is not in my browsing history either. Is there anyway I can retrieve the information from my computer files?I have tried looking at the browser history. It was the only page not showing up. I have tried looking at the firefox cache but it only showed the last two hours of activity. I have tried looking in the temp files but all of the ones I have went to in the computer are from days ago. I cannot find a folder that says internet temporary files.
When I try to delete a file, either by choosing the "delete" option on the context menu or by pressing the "delete" key with the file selected, it take between something like 20 to 60 seconds to show me the usual confirmation window (the one with "Are you sure you want to delete file XXX.X?"). It's quite annoying, however it seems that that is the only problem. When the confirmation windows does come up the file can be deleted OK and I can drag and drop files to the recycling bin without any problems.
My computer has been running slow for months, but it is now getting to the point where it is almost unbearable. For example, just clicking on a folder to open it can take up to 15 seconds to respond. It also lags a ton during internet browsing.
I have FF 17. The mouse is freezing in facebook & I find the only escape to release the browser is reboot. The same FB page works fine in internet explorer.
Multiple users with read/write authority on a mapped server drive allways leave problems as misplaced files or folders. Is there a way to force windows to allways ask for confirmation on mouse operations!
1) I have windows 7 and every time I press ctrl+alt+del a blue window pops up that takes up my whole screen and displays various options such as "change user" "change password" "Task Manager" etc. I just want it to immediately go to task manager every time without having to reconfirm with me!
2) How do I prevent a program from accessing a certain folder when that program is executed? For example if I play Civilization 5 and I want to play without my mods folder...how do I prevent the game from reading that specific folder?
I have read the Posting Instructions and used the SF Diagnostic Tool, results included.I'm not sure if that includes all my system information, but if anything is missing I'll post as soon as I can.To clarify further the BSOD has happened on a variety of games, sometimes it can happen with in 5mins of loading one other times I am good for a couple of hours or I can play till I've quit the game with no crashing.I have done scans with MSE, Spybot and Malware Bytes with no issues found. From looking at other threads, one recommended using a driver scanner to check for updates (SlimDrives), again no updates found. That's all I can think of for now, also to be honest I am a bit reluctant in having to do a full re-install and would very much like to avoid that if possible.
as title says am getting a Rippling effect whilst gaming, am playing iRacing on triple screen, res is 5760 x 1080 refresh 120hz while playing this sim every now and again i will get a Rippling effect like dropping a stone in a puddle, best way i can describe it, i have tried all kinds of things to try and rid this annoying problem with no joy what so ever
After installing Windows 7 64 bit yesterday, I'm very happy with it, but I've come across my first problem;Whenever I type at any sort of speed (most of the time, I touch type), regardless of the software in which I'm typing, the audio seems to lag or stutter very slightly, as if input from the keyboard is too much for the machine to process. It's only noticeable when I'm playing music.Perhaps I'm being a little lazy starting a thread this early, as I haven't yet exhausted all my options, but I'm curious to see if anyone's experienced the same issue and can save me some time. So far I've installed the latest Audio drivers I could find, to no avail. The next thing I'll try is to update my video card drivers, as it's currently only using the default Windows 7 wdm one. I figure if the UI of Windows 7 uses hardware acceleration, it might have an issue there.
It seems ATI's latest catalyst driver package for windows 7 doesn't list my video card as being supported, only the newer HD series cards, but I might give it a go anyway.
I'm getting Eco conscious in my old age. My laptop is usually on all day and I think it would be a better idea if I could use sleep mode or something to save power. Problem is I need to know if emails are arriving. Is it possible to set the computer up in such a way that it wakes up when an email arrives, or would sleep mode stop emails arriving in the first place? Using Live Mail by the way.
I have been getting what appears to be random BSOD. However, most times it has been whilst using IE Explorer (ver 8.0 ). I have an Asus G53SW Win 7 64bit 16Gb RAM. All updates have been installed and I believe all drivers are latest version. About 3 weeks ago the HDD had bad sectors and I had it replaced. I had a Crucial M4 128Gb SSD installed and an additional 8Gb of memory. I have run memtest (8 passes) and there were no errors. I have run HD Pro and there are no errors on the HDD. Attached herewith dump files and event logs. I have also attached a sys info file.
Is Windows 7 Ultimate x64 - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? -- x64 - the original installed OS on the system? -- Windows 7 Ultimate x64 - an OEM or full retail version? -- Full Retail - What is the age of system (hardware)? -- December, 2011 - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) -- January, 2012 System specs can be found at my profile: Windows 7 Forums - View Profile: Domenic This has just started happening recently. I'm not sure what is causing this, so I thought I'd ask here. I've attached what you have asked for.
EDIT: I'd also like to point out that even when it does not BSOD, after some time (ranges from 1 minute to 1 hour), the game crashes.
I got a BSOD while on the internet after about 10-15 minutes. I tried it on Google Chrome, Firefox and IE 9. It also occured when playing runescape on EpicBot. OEM - OEM = came pre-installed on system - Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer - What is the age of system (hardware)? 5 Months - What is the age of OS installation? 5 Months
I'm installing Windows 7 Professional on my laptop and I'm at what I think is the final set up stage but it has been trying to connect to the network and apply the settings for an hour now. The loading bar is still scrolling continuously and I can move the pointer round but I can't do much else.
This is a new pc build using various parts we have accumulated. When using Internet Explorer I get app crashes. I have been playing DC Universe Online and get random app crash, display drivers stop responding, apphangB1, I also lose monitor signal. Here is a list of fixes we have tried already:
-We have disabled internet explorer add ons and even tried disabling IE completely, to no avail -We have swapped out the 5770 for an 8800 GTX that we know works, same problem -We have the latest BIOS/drivers -We have run SpeedFan, CPU temp 41C -We have run Memtest for both sticks of RAM at the same time in slots 1 and 3 and there was an error, so we tried to isolate the bad RAM by testing invidivual sticks in slot 3 - no errors on either stick? therefore, we put the sticks in slots 3 and 4, assuming there may be a problem with slot 1 - worked ok for a couple of hours, then game crashes and black screen with sound requiring reboot. Monitor is fine, as it works on my BF's pc with no problems. -We have tried a couple of installs of Windows 7 -We have run chkdsk - no errors. The BIOS is running on default, nothing overclocked - we have used the correct timings for the RAM and autotimed them, same problem
We are currently not using an antivirus because we did not want to add more problems, but we will get AVAST.My BF has given up now, as there is nothing else he can think of to try. I feel we are so close to resolving the issue, as it did run fine for a while, but then a bunch of errors all at once. If it helps, here is a copy of the error log.
whilst generally using my computer it will blue screen and state that it is dumping memory, there have been several codes but the latest is:
Local ID: 2057 Additional information about the problem: BCCode:1000007e
[Code]....
I'm currently trying to run "Windows_NT6_BSOD_v3.03_jcgriff2_" but every time i try my computer blue screens so will try and update if it manages to complete.
Edit: how should i attach the system diagnostic report as it saves as a html and says invalid file on upload.
I had encountered problems with my laptop and wanted to start a fresh so I tried to install windows seven again and got all the way through the installation up until the completing installation phase then after about fourty minutesi received an error of what I beleive said windows has encountered a problem restart the computer and restart the installation and when i tried to boot I got an error after the setup is starting services screen that says the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error windows installation cannot proceed, and when I restart I get stuck in this loop, I have my bios set to boot from cd drive but if I do not press any buttons it shows four different windows 7 listed, I am completely stuck in what to do, i have a dell Inspiron N5030. Im a bit of a computer noob so no jargon please, sorry if I have put this thread in the wrong part of the forum.Pretty much I'd like to know how to get rid of the 4 windows 7s and Make a fresh from my windows disk
As the title says my computer screen flickers white when gaming. Ive pre loaded driver software which have indicatedthat alot of drivers are out of dare.
i am in dire need of some help with my pc. I am experiencing numerous BSOD issues. It started out whilst gaming with Battlefield 3 but is now happening all the time weather it be browsing the internet or just doing nothing. (If it helps firefox is crashing all the time). the computer is 10 months old and ran fine up until recently.I have had page fault, memory management, NTFS fault, bad pool, system exception.I have reviewed the forums and tried all the usual fixes, which goes along these lines:I used memtestx86 on my ram and found i had a dead stick so i purchased new 2 x 2G OZ 1333mhz, tested them for 20hrs and when they tested fine replaced the old sticks. Great i thought sorted, alas no.I removed AVG as one of the dmp files indicated it was that.nope carried out a chkdsk / r which showed no errors I removed all my nvidea drivers as they were being indicated but no its now worse than ever.I have attached the minidump files i have had over the past two days.
The definetion of an EXPERT was "anyone more than 25 miles from home" not sure about that.If memory serves me I used to be able to open more than one copy of the Microsoft IE Browser, however am unable to do that now. Am I imagining thing that I did that before or is there a problem with that?
Recently whenever I've used an .exe installer I'll get an error as soon as I click start after choosing the directory, in the picture example I include below, it's of SA-MP, but it happens with any installer I try and use. Installers have worked previously, it's only recently it's stopped working. The error is;Error opening files for writing?
What I've tried;
-Full system scan with Comodo AV.
-Revealed hidden files and folders.
-Run the installer in both compatability (Even though it does work on Windows 7, and as an Administrator).
-Also done the scan on CMD (can't remember exact command).
