I've just got a new graphic card, MSI nVidia GeForce 8400 GS 1gb, and everytime I try to boot up with the card inserted, then windows freezes @ "Starting Windows" screen...So when the 8400 GS card is in my pc, then Windows simply wont boot up. I can go to F8 menu, and choose safe mode, but it freezes @ CLASSPNP.sys.I can boot up @ onboard, and every gfx drivers are deleted (I did not use driversweeper, but i used CCleaner to remove the last .reg files), but it still wont boot up in Windows, when the 8400GS card is in...Even though i disable the onboard function in BIOS, it still wont boot up with the 8400....

i haev a Geforce 8400 RS error but since widnwos 7 is beta i think it doesnrt work with it so when i use the geforce the computer crashes and i want to do dual monitor casue im a video editor adn dual monitor is easier with video editing so i cant use it and i haev to use my built in video card which doesnt support dual monitor does anybody knwo hwo to fix this problem?
I just put a fresh installation of Windows 7 on my PC, I have the latest drivers, and the graphics card worked with Windows XP before I changed the OS. I am currently working off of the on-board graphics via VGA, but when I try to plug my monitor into the nVidia card with the DVI (same monitor, different source), the "Screen Resolution" window doesn't recognize the 2nd input. I also cannot get any signal from the card if I boot up with either cables plugged in.I don't see anything in the device manager or in the HWiNFO32 program I have that throws any red flags. It appears to be working fine. And BIOS doesn't have any settings that should be interfering with the card working properly
I'm running 64-bit Windows 7, SP 1 and recently had problems with Windows updates not installing (going back to August).Windows Fixit didn't work, but an HP utility did, which then allowed updates to download and install. However, after the reboot to complete installation, I got the dreaded NTLDR Not Found message. Managed to sort that out (not exactly sure what did it: making sure the boot location was set to internal hard disc and/or using disc one of a three-disc HP Recovery set that I created after a previous NTLDR issue). The problem I have is that one update did not install:

I've tried to download the driver directly from Nvidia but that fails too, with the message that I don't have an Nvidia GPU!I even lost the Nvidia control panel. I checked the Nvidia components in the appropriate system folder and discovered that they were set for Windows XP. Changing them to WIndows 7 made no difference. I manually ran the Physx application (clutching at straws from a knowledge base of zero) and the control panel loads up but when I run it from the task bar, I get the no Nvidia GPU message. There definitely IS an Nvidia GeForce 405 present. It worked before. At one point, Device Manager showed it as present, but I can't repeat that situation: under Display Adapters it just shows Display.Under Sound, Video and Game Controllers, Device Manager shows 4 Nvidia HD Audio entries, located in Location 0,1,2 and 3 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus). Did they come from the Nvidia GPU set up? And why four of them? How do I get Windows to recognise the GPU and install the new driver? I'm not sure if it's related, but I also can't get Media Centre to find my XBox 360 as an extender. The error message indicates that it might be a Sunbelt Vipre Firewall issue. I've tried to set local port access as firewall exceptions as per the XBox web site suggestions, but I can't work out how to set the 'system' entries (there is no application labelled System to locate). My Packard Bell netbook located the XBox at the first attempt (also 64-bit Windows 7 SP 1, running McAfee-based BT NetProtect Plus). Sunbelt Support were, sadly, no great help, as all they did was direct me to the XBox web site after a very long web chat interaction. HP Support utility also repeatedly failed to install the Ralink WiFi driver update, but it succeeded the other day and then I had problems with not being able to connect the PC to the internet via the wired ethernet connection to my BT HomeHub 3 running Infinity (via the BT Infinity Modem). WiFi connection worked, but not wired. That issue disappeared after a couple of days (no idea why), but every time I start the PC I get a BT Help Browser redirect window attempt to load but it fails every time and I have to end the task manually. I've been trying to upgrade an old coimputer to run Windows 7, so far it works really great, but the intel graphics are really shitty, so I bought an EVGA GeForce 6200 256MB PCI card to install. problem is, whenever the card is installed the computer won't boot, and is stuck on this screen,I pulled out the CMOS battery to try to reset it, but no dice.
What can I do to make my graphics card work perfect but not messing up the pc I have tried downloading the drivers got hold of various versions tried them but they kept on giving me the problem, with a black screen after window logo loading.
My Windows 7 has stopped booting after a restart, the system would just endlessly play the boot animation and not boot properly... system restore won't work, startup repair won't work, chdsk and sfc won't work. I have yet to try and see whether a Registry fix works. Windows loads the WRE VERY slowly.

I will have 2GB of this RAM Thursday with another 2GB of the same RAM the following week or the week after that. Corsair Dominator DDR2 Ram Memory PC-6400 800 MHZ [URL] After the RAM I will be getting a new Graphics Card. Also I have a spare 650 watt PSU if needed.
I ran the Window upgrade advisor and the only things it flagged was (of course) that I only had 512MB of RAM and outlook express. It did say custom installation required, whatever that means.
1. My first question to everyone is, can my Dell even run Windows 7 64-bit? I googled around and it seems possible.
2. My second question is can I install it with the 512MB of RAM I have now?
3. My last question is can I install this along side XP on my HD?
4. My third question is does anyone know of a good very detailed step by step Noob guide for installing it next to XP?
I have never installed an OS before and if it does not work I am screwed!
I do know it is better to do a fresh install and no I cannot by another HD right now, I know they are cheap but I will be scraping together all I have just for the RAM and Graphics card.
My problem is that, I really only have the time to do this over the long weekend and cannot wait for the RAM to get here. The guy on e-bay is a clown and did not ship it when he was supposed to and it will not be here in time.

I am having difficulty in installing the drivers for a Canon 8400F scanner on a Windows 7 64 bit laptop.I've downloaded the correct drivers from the Canon website, and installed themThey firstly unzip, then they seem to install but I don't get any message that the installation has completed.When I check Device Manager the scanner is not listed (and thus the drivers have not installed).

just built a Supermicro system dual Xeon 604 cpu's used my video card (pci) in one of my pci x slots have tried many settings both in bios and slot configuration but my pc will just randomly re boot with no warning, every now and then I will see the BSOD that will say time out trying to load display driver, I see many people having similar issues with this card. time for a new card? running win 7 64 bit ran fine on my SOYO board that is now dead with same OS. no one has a possible solution? well for me it's not worth the aggravation. going to get an ATI dual monitor1 gig and see how that runs. figure with all the issues so many are having it must be a g force/windows/Intel incompatibility issue
I just installed Windows 7 on a dell dimension 8400 everything looks ok except the Multimedia, PCI modem and the ethernet. Of couse without the ethernet I can't get out so I have to get the drivers to my old faithful xp and feed them to the dell.
I have 2 new computers using Windows 7 (laptop x32 and Quadcore x64). Installing web-based drivers for my 2 Xerox Phaser 8400 DP network printers is ok, but prints are not.
First after installation it only prints in basic b/w mode and not 100% the size (about 70%) of the original. It is like the printer uses A5 size standard and resizes everything accordingly. No paper size selection and/or print quality selection is possible. Now it seems I have to manualy set the configuration in the Xerox driver screen to Phaser 8400, and that solves the problem with print quality. I can now print in color also. But not in the right size or other paper types.
Xerox says only to help (level 2) if I have a service contract. I do not need this contract (no issues ever with the printer ever I could not resolve myself)) and do not want to pay for issues Xerox should resolve anyway...
I am having a sound problem as in no sound at all is playing, I dont know how to find what sound drivers I need or how to get them. Help? Thanks.
Also the sound was working just a week ago. I dont know what has happened. The same thing happened when I first installed but then one day I woke up and the problem was miraculously fixed.

I can't pass through the windows screen when I boot my Laptop ( boot -> windows screen -> (after like 15 mins) -> return to booting (automatic) -> infinite).... and I'd love to put my spec and info for my laptop but I can't. I haven't used my laptop for like a week.Here's the things that I tried:First, I tried this "recovery mode". But every time I try, only thing I see is this blue back ground ( not the blue screen of death). I don't see any window or message, just a cursor and this blue background. Funny thing is I can still move my cursor. ( One time I just decided to wait till the window appears, exactly for like 11 hours, no window appeared.)Next, I tried the safe mode ; all 3 safe mode options (network, without network, just safe mode, I'm not sure if I'm right but it goes like that). With the safe mode, I can pass through the windows screen, but that's it. Only thing I see is the black safe mode background ( the back ground with words in each 4 corner, and I think one in the middle). Same thing with the Recovery mode, nothing appears even after waiting for ridiculously long period; only the black back ground.After that I tried every other options in the advanced booting options ( I don't know the exact name).But all of them showed similar or same results as other 2 steps that I listed above. I also tried the reboot disk from windows 7. I used my friend's PC to make one. Showed same results as " recovery mode". Blue background with no window. After trying the reboot disk, I tried the official windows 7 CD. Tried the recovery option first that comes with the CD, but showed same results as "recovery mode"; Blue background. So, I tried the "Download" button. Instead of just the blue background, this time there was a sentence in the middle. It went like " preparing installation" (I used windows 7 disk from other country, so I don't know the exact sentence). I waited like 5 hours and still no progress, just blue "preparing installation" background.
I am using win XP and had to wipe. I was missing various drivers so I got them off the Dell site. Seems installation order is important, so I think I followed the correct order (tried multiple orders when was still missing a network controller). I have all installed except the wireless controller.
I am able to use internet via ethernet hard wire but can't find the controller for wireless. I used a driver elvaluation site to get the controller I need, but when I downloaded the controller from this site and going directly to the manufacturers site, there isn't an executable file to load the driver. Any suggestions?

So, had to install XP beside Windows 7 64bit... Windows 7 64bit was installed while in BIOS hdd was set as AHCI.To install XP, I've to put it to IDE. Now if I put AHCI i can boot in Windows 7, but not in XP(BSOD), if I put IDE can't boot in Windows 7(BSOD), can in XP. Downloaded AHCI driver for my MB (MSI P55-GD55) and can't install them in XP, says no system requirements.What to do? Is there a way to boot with IDE to windows 7 64bit without reinstall?
I just bought a laptop last month and it boot up very slow at the screen ''starting windows'' 30sec and log into the desktop background still need long time to wait the programs and wifi reciever to boot...

I have installed w7 64bit to take advantaqe of the 4GB ram. My scanner and a few progs I use do not work even with compatability mode. On another pc with w7 32bit the scanner and progs work. Would it be possible to install both W7 32bit and 64bit on the same pc either on different partitions or hard drives and use either? If this is not possible and I have to use just 32bit is there a simple way of converting from 64bit to 32bit without totally removing the installation?

A few days ago,my laptop was working fine..when suddenly it started to hang up..i tried to logoff but it dosent...i waited for 15 min but it didnt respond...then i force shutdown it..when i restarted it,it showed up with BSOD saying "unmountable_boot-volume" and then restarts itself again...it came up with "windows has failed to logon" i selected "Startup Repair" it took 2 days continuously repairing it up...but it goes on for "attempting repairs''...finally.i lost my patience and press cancel..it hanged up again..i restarted my PC it again came up with BSOD again mentioned above.When i tried to run startup repair,this time it wont start...Then i tried to load windows in safe mode,no luck,in safe mood with command prompt to run chkdsk,but i wont load..it stuck up at driver.sys... i got an answer to run tools for checking up my hard drive,i downloaded DFT from Hitachi and run it ...but it wont..it stuck up with a cursor blinking and saying "Loading DFT"...i waited for 2 hrs but nothing happens...Then i ran seagate tools..it runs..check for errors ...it came up with answer : Bad Sectors Found..then i ran up advance test to repair bad sectors..it repaired 2 sectors and then : "Repair Failed Bad Sectors Found.."i was just googling up to see if Bad sectors Can be repaired...i found HDD Regenerator..but i dont know if it can really repair Bad Sectors on my hard drive..
