New Laptop, Resolution Limited To 1366x768, How To Increase This
Jan 29, 2012
So the laptop in question is a 15,9" ASUS K53SV (I think, not 100% on the exact numbers/lettering) with an i7 2630, with integrated graphics chip AND a Geforce 540m. I suspect that the reason why I cannot increase my desktop resolution further is because that integrated chip insists on running instead of the dedicated GPU. Through Nvidea's control panel I have set the 540 to the preffered card, but this only seems to be applied on applications. I think I confirmed that by accessing advanced settings through the screen resolution menu, which clearly lists that integrated chip and not the 540.I also think it is questionable that my actual screen would not be able to support anything higher, since my 3 year old mid-range 15,9" HP laptop seemed to have no problem at all reaching 1680.
Today I purchased a new laptop for school. Upon starting it up i was prompted to update my drivers then to restart my computer. So I did. Now my resolution has changed from the highest being 1366x768 (I believe it was 768) to 1024x768. It wont let me go any higher and everything looks sort of stretched out. It's an ASUS model: X53U
Well, Windows 7 starter came pre-installed. One fine day, I was trying Linux and accidentally deleted my Windows. Hidden partition was also deleted. So I downloaded Windows from Microsoft site and deleted the ef.cgi file so as to get all the Windows install option when I start thr install from USB. Everything is fine but the screen resolution is wrong.
My screen resolution is 1024X600 but in the Windows setting it is 800X600. I can't increase it. It's just set to 800X600.
Also drivers are not installed. I have to install them.
All the objects in my screen are big ...my monitor is 19 inch acer. but my resolution shows 1024 x 768! when i search in internet the answers says 1280 x 1024 pixls..
So today when I booted up this computer the screen resolution had suddenly changed to 1024x768. When I went to change it back (my monitor is about 20 inches in size, so that resolution looks really bad) I found that I couldn't get a resolution higher than that, and the only other resolution available was 800x600. I've been trying to fix it-I restarted, tried to do a clean boot (which didn't do anything when I first restarted so I stopped trying), updated the nvida driver to the latest version, but nothing works. I thought it might have something to do with a game, because I got Fall of Cybertron just yesterday, which didn't cause any resolution problems when I played it yesterday but it could have been the culprit, but they're all limited to the same resolution settings too.
I'm running the 32bit version of Windows 7 and this is what my screen resolution menu looks like.
i am using win 7 ultimate.i5 processor. 1gb ati graphic card. but nfs mostwanted is not working on full sceen... what settings should i use for it to be full screened,
What can I do to increase my WEI?My laptop is the Gateway MX8734, I have 1.5GB Ram currently installed, 2.0 is the max. That's all I can see in there. What else can be done?
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop that won't connect wirelessly to my network. ALL other devices in the house (iPhones, iPads, iMac, 1 laptop and another desktop) work fine, no problems. I've tested the laptop at my girlfriend's house using her wifi and still the same problem: Limited Access.
I've ran the troubleshoot, re-booted the router & laptop, checked device manager for any exclamation marks against any drivers (none), tried disabling/enabling the driver, checked for driver updates (none), done a system restore and uninstalled my antivirus software but all to no avail.
Edit: I've tried plugging in the ethernet cable which, although not particularly straight-forward, eventually works.
I recently changed my router and it worked okay not bad. But the internet connection cut off too much like once in 20 minutes and I feel like my internet is too slow. When the internet is cut off, it says limited access with yellow sign on the wireless bar.
I'm trying to fix my sisters laptop, which just wont connect to the Internet. I've checked everything I can find. Here's a description of the problem - When looking at the icon in the system tray that shows the connection bars, when I hover over it, it says "not connected - connections are available" . On the related pop-up window It does show my wireless connection. When trying to connect to that wireless network, it eventually says "the connection was unsuccessful - this computer has limited connectivity to "bthomehub.....".
At this point it gives an option to troubleshoot, when I select this it says - "problems found - there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter". If I look at the troubleshooting report from this window it says "windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter". In 'network and sharing centre' it shows the computer being connected to the homehub, but no connection from homehub to the Internet. Attempted to ping ebay, got this response - "ping request could not find host ebay.com please check then name and try again."
Under wireless connection status it says - "ipv4 connectivity - no Internet access" "ipv6 connectivity - no network access"
From looking around on the internet I have tried the following - - netsh winsock reset catalog - netsh int ip reset reset.log - reinstalled drivers for wireless network connection adapter - checked that windows has no restore points - tried ipconfig /release at command prompt, got the error "the operation failed as no adapter is in the - - state permissible for this operation" - tried ipconfig /renew at command prompt, got the error "the operation failed as no adapter is in the - state permissible for this operation"
I tried removing various antivirus/system protection apps...at this point I then got a yellow icon over the connection bars in the system tray, and it now says im 'connected'. but it says 'no internet access'. Its a new laptop running windows 7, it did work fine for a while and then suddenly stopped working while connected to the internet.
I decided to upgrade my parents laptop to Windows 7. The installation went fine but for some reason the laptop itself won't go to full resolution, The laptop in question is a Sony Viao PCG K315S.

My desktop pc upstairs has a screen resolution 1900x1600, my laptop downstairs 1920x1080 (fullHD). When i open a RDP from the laptop to my desktop upstairs the screen is full size on the laptop but the icons and everthink is small, can this be bigger?
I'm stuck on 1024x768 with a 16:9 monitor. I can't get any of the drivers to install properly, all of them give the complaint seen in the attachment.
The reason I'm on Windows 7 is i had a head crash on my old Hard drive and HP refused to give me another copy of Vista for anything less than $200. I still have my old Activation code but they didn't quite understand that.
so here i am with 7, just trying to get my computer back up to 100%. any help?
I got my friends laptop to reinstall Windows, but after doing so I've lost the option to set the resolution to its native 1600x900. I've downloaded all the drivers necessary from the Toshiba website, but still no avail. After installing CCC and running it, it says "There are currently no settings that can be configured using AMD Control Center." I googled a bit and it seems I'm stuck in default VGA mode. When I go to check display adapter properties, it does indeed say VGA adapter. The laptop model is Toshiba Satellite L775D-S7220.
i install autocad 2007 on my hp laptop notebook size, i try to open it, i cant see the other command below because the window is not fit tot he screen.

I want to adjust my screen resolution to 1680 x 1080 (recommended for 17" Laptop). But the only option available is 1366 x 780. How do I get additional options?

I am using windows seven ultimate. I have accidentally choosen Display 2. In the screen resolution and now my laptop doesn't start in normal mode. Its like I have to connect to an external display like a laptop to view my Desktop. I can only access it using safe mode..
I have Dell Optiplex GX260 system. I intalled Windows 7 Ultimate on that. The resolution of screen is fine but it is not supporting 1280 x 1024 resolution and videos are not playing properly. It was not taking audio drivers as well but when I ran the SoundMax drivers for XP in compatibility mode they were installed. But display drivers are not getting installed. I even tried the various driver from Nvidia for XP/Vista/Win 7, but none of them works.
Once upon a time, I could connect computer and laptop on my Motorola SB5101e modem, since it has ethernet and USB.
Suddenly, something changed, and no long I can connect both.
Now, if I try to connect laptop (and regularly using internet on computer previously), on laptop will be "No or limited connectivity (laptop is XP).
I asked Cable operator why is this, and they said that it has to be like that, bla bla...
Somethimes, I lose connection on my computer, and "no or limited..." shows, exclamation mark also.
Well, it's not written "no or limited..", because computer is on my native language.
I saw that some user on this forum, whose nick is "zay", said that this can be easily bypassed if Cable is used as ISP.
I know that there's problem with ip configuration (or protocol).
Somethimes, if this problem can't be solved just by turning computer and modem off, I have to call cable operator to say him to "restart (or reset) "something"".
What do they "restart" (or reset)?
After that, everything works fine.
So, I would like to know what do they do in that kind of situation (what they do reset), and is there any possibility for me to solve that without calling them?
