View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a computer running on Windows 7 with a GTX 290 card and a first gen i7 920 CPU. Ever since I built the computer a few years ago the start up is just over to the left, I can't see anything on the left side and the right side is just a black bar. The proper resolution isn't set until the log-in screen. The computer did this even when it was running on Vista. I've noticed my computer does this when running on certain resolutions that the monitor isn't good with. So my question is is there any way to change my resolution in my BIOS?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have 2 RTM copies of Windows 7 I'm testing both are 64bit and both normally have ATI cards installed (one is a 4650 the other a 4870). The problem is I get a BSOD doing the following: 1. Change resolution 2. Change Refresh rate 3. Change Primary/secondary monitors 4. Load a game that changes the resolution
The following do not: 1. Setting Over-scan 2. Setting 3d settings 3. Under clocking GPU [Anything else on the system including playing games that do not change the resolution]. I have about 20 hours into setting up this system and have already wasted an activation on it. I need a way to adjust the resolution without a BSOD occurring every time (note changes are lost). I'm looking for some kind of solution to this issue.
My computer for the longest time ran with a 1400x900 resolution, However when I turned the PC on today, the resolution was changed, without me knowing to something that did not fit.So I said " I'll change it back to 1400x900..."When I went to do so, the resolution was no longer listed, and not able to be selected again, it simply wasn't there. Even in all the Valid Modes menu. even when I go to change it, the desktop does not change to fit the new sizes selected.I am not sure if this is a monitor malfunction, as the screen has begun to flicker slowly recently (about 2-3 days ago).I am at a loss at what to do... I want the 1400x900 resolution back.

I got my friends laptop to reinstall Windows, but after doing so I've lost the option to set the resolution to its native 1600x900. I've downloaded all the drivers necessary from the Toshiba website, but still no avail. After installing CCC and running it, it says "There are currently no settings that can be configured using AMD Control Center." I googled a bit and it seems I'm stuck in default VGA mode. When I go to check display adapter properties, it does indeed say VGA adapter. The laptop model is Toshiba Satellite L775D-S7220.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo the laptop in question is a 15,9" ASUS K53SV (I think, not 100% on the exact numbers/lettering) with an i7 2630, with integrated graphics chip AND a Geforce 540m. I suspect that the reason why I cannot increase my desktop resolution further is because that integrated chip insists on running instead of the dedicated GPU. Through Nvidea's control panel I have set the 540 to the preffered card, but this only seems to be applied on applications. I think I confirmed that by accessing advanced settings through the screen resolution menu, which clearly lists that integrated chip and not the 540.I also think it is questionable that my actual screen would not be able to support anything higher, since my 3 year old mid-range 15,9" HP laptop seemed to have no problem at all reaching 1680.
