my sister has an acer aspire one d255 with a dual core intel atom processor. Today I installed windows 7 ultimate edition over the windows 7 starter. But now I cant change the resolution on it . Its stuck on 800x600. In starters edition it was 1024x768. The drop down for the resolution in the screen resolution window is gray ( meaning it cant be clicked. The screen is shown as a generic pnp.
i'm having some trouble with my screen resolution . i set it at (800x600) cause i'm using a 51 inch big screen hd tv. it go's full screen but then for no reason it puts the bars back on the sides of the screen. i checked and it still reads (800x600) and i can't get it to change back to full screen until i reboot. works fine in vista . i'm not seeing anything about drivers failing so i'm not sure what's happening.
i'm using windows 7 proffesional and my graphic card is a nvidia geforce 8400m 128mb, i just got the latest driver update going but since i did that, i've been having problems, like i open up a certain game like lets say fifa 10, my desktop display does not change according to the games display, but before i installed the latest driver it was just fine..
I am using windows 7 in my Dell Inspiron N5010. It has native resolution of 1366x768. When I bought the laptop resolution was correct. But I re-installed the OS recently again and now is showing max resolution is 1024x768. Because of this I am getting blurred videos. how can I change the resolution back to 1366x768.
My computer for the longest time ran with a 1400x900 resolution, However when I turned the PC on today, the resolution was changed, without me knowing to something that did not fit.So I said " I'll change it back to 1400x900..."When I went to do so, the resolution was no longer listed, and not able to be selected again, it simply wasn't there. Even in all the Valid Modes menu. even when I go to change it, the desktop does not change to fit the new sizes selected.I am not sure if this is a monitor malfunction, as the screen has begun to flicker slowly recently (about 2-3 days ago).I am at a loss at what to do... I want the 1400x900 resolution back.
for the past month i have had an issue where before the log in screen would show, it would be a blank screen with a cursor, that i could move. (It worked normal in safe mode) I normally would just ignore this problem and it seemed to go back to normal after a little while. Well yesterday it didn't go away, so i went online looking for a solution, in safe mode. I've read to disable/enable drivers, re-install drivers, just plenty of things. And the result of all this is that my screen resolution wont go back to normal, and there is a black border around my screen, around a half inch. Also, my computer has been running EXTREME slow lately.
My screen went all zoomed in, I Googleld the problem and none of the suggestions on other forums helped at all, I have had window 7 for 3 years and this has never happened before,
I found a quick fix by changing the resolution from the desktop to 1600x1200, but my resolution has always been 1800x1920. Not only this any single one of my games that i try to load all pop up with an error saying, "unable to find a suitable graphics card"
I use asus 14 inch along with windows 7. recently i have installed the sims 3. but when i cannot play this game with full screen. i get black bars on each side of the screen.. its very irritating.
i have 2 monitors hooked up to my new hp. one is vga and the other is dvi. it worked great for 2 weeks and all of a sudden i cannot change the resolution on the newer hp monitor which is dvi, it is stuck in 640x480. i dont understand how it was working and all of a sudden it stopped.

I or a game changes the resolution from the default 1920x1080 it causes a blue screen. It's been happening for about a month now and the worst part is any attempt at updating video card drivers causes a blue screen because it changes resolution.
I have a computer running on Windows 7 with a GTX 290 card and a first gen i7 920 CPU. Ever since I built the computer a few years ago the start up is just over to the left, I can't see anything on the left side and the right side is just a black bar. The proper resolution isn't set until the log-in screen. The computer did this even when it was running on Vista. I've noticed my computer does this when running on certain resolutions that the monitor isn't good with. So my question is is there any way to change my resolution in my BIOS?
how to change the resolution on pictures. I want to put them in a cookbook project and was told the resolution was too low. I opened pictures in Paint but did not do anything now they will only open in paint and are all sized large and you only see half the picture.
I did a clean install of Windows 7 from XP. Now I cannot get the resolution to change on my monitor. I have tried updating drivers but it still won't work.
My computer is a Dell Optiplex 160L and the monitor is a Proview Pro 458.
I have 2 RTM copies of Windows 7 I'm testing both are 64bit and both normally have ATI cards installed (one is a 4650 the other a 4870). The problem is I get a BSOD doing the following: 1. Change resolution 2. Change Refresh rate 3. Change Primary/secondary monitors 4. Load a game that changes the resolution
The following do not: 1. Setting Over-scan 2. Setting 3d settings 3. Under clocking GPU [Anything else on the system including playing games that do not change the resolution]. I have about 20 hours into setting up this system and have already wasted an activation on it. I need a way to adjust the resolution without a BSOD occurring every time (note changes are lost). I'm looking for some kind of solution to this issue.
My monitor uses the resolution 1024 x 768, but this morning it's on 640 x 480?i try to change the resolution back, but the Resolution option is greyed out?A warning underneath says: If your resolution is below 1024 x 768, some items may not fit on the screen.
I have recently been running my computer for really long periods and have only just turned it off last night. When I turned it on this morning it did a file corrupt scan which sometimes randomly happens. When windows fully loaded the screen resolution had been changed, almost to safe mode resolution.
So iI have tried changing the resolution (Normal is 1920x1080), with no luck. Even though it says it is on 1920x1080 (recommmended), I know for a fact that it's not actually that resolution. You can tell by this photo that the desktop is way to large for 1920x1080. Unfortunetly I do not have a photo of my original desktop resolution .I have installed the latest NVIDIA graphics driver, and it is the right driver for my card. Also checked all windows updates.
I have just purchased a 9600GT which is capable of a resolution of 2560x1600 but my monitor is only stated to be 1680-1050, My question is this, would it do my monitor any damage to force upon it the said 2560-1600?
i have used to connect to my pc (vista x64 Radeon 4670) through vnc that is connected to a fullhd tv via hdmi. When i shut down the tv nothing happened to the screen resolution when connected through vnc but now with Windows 7 x64.
when i turn off the tv the resolution changes to some lower and i cant use the whole 1920x1080 and after turning the tv on again it resizes to the full resolution but with icons on desktop without any order! Is there any way to Windows 7 not automatic change resolution when turning off the tv like in vista?
