View 7 Replies View RelatedMy computer for the longest time ran with a 1400x900 resolution, However when I turned the PC on today, the resolution was changed, without me knowing to something that did not fit.So I said " I'll change it back to 1400x900..."When I went to do so, the resolution was no longer listed, and not able to be selected again, it simply wasn't there. Even in all the Valid Modes menu. even when I go to change it, the desktop does not change to fit the new sizes selected.I am not sure if this is a monitor malfunction, as the screen has begun to flicker slowly recently (about 2-3 days ago).I am at a loss at what to do... I want the 1400x900 resolution back.

View 1 Replies View Relatedfor the past month i have had an issue where before the log in screen would show, it would be a blank screen with a cursor, that i could move. (It worked normal in safe mode) I normally would just ignore this problem and it seemed to go back to normal after a little while. Well yesterday it didn't go away, so i went online looking for a solution, in safe mode. I've read to disable/enable drivers, re-install drivers, just plenty of things. And the result of all this is that my screen resolution wont go back to normal, and there is a black border around my screen, around a half inch. Also, my computer has been running EXTREME slow lately.

I found a quick fix by changing the resolution from the desktop to 1600x1200, but my resolution has always been 1800x1920. Not only this any single one of my games that i try to load all pop up with an error saying, "unable to find a suitable graphics card"
When I've had my laptop on battery power where the screen is dimmed to conserve battery after being shut off and last running on battery when I plug it in and start up the screen is still dimmed and not all the way up like it should be. My settings are dimmed on battery and bright plugged in.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo i returned to my work computer after lunch and the resolution had been changed to 800x600, very odd.Now i have spent 2 hours trying to get back my resolution to the 1680x1050 that is was before but i still can not choose anything higher then 1600x1200 under Screen Resolution settings. The one with the correct ratio i can choose is 1280x960 and i'd like to bigger one back.I have updated the driver for my graphics card (ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics accoridng to Device Manager). I have updated the driver for the Monitor (HP LE2201w), but the monitor still shows up as Generic Non-PnP Monitor under Device Manager and now i am out of ideas... I really have no idea what the hell happened when i was gone.(And yes, the computer was locked so it wasn't someone else changing something)Uninstalling the driver for the Generic device does nothing, it pops back up again after installing the correct display driver, or after a restart. It's like the display driver i downloaded from HP is not being installed, no idea why.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOn a Win XP machine you could delete the registry keys under HKLMEnum as the last step before removing the MB and when the new MB was installed the Plug & Play would install the your hardware drivers and properly configure the new MB.Is there a similar process that will work with Win 7? There is no HKLMEnum key in Win 7 registry. There is a HKLMSystemControl Set 001Enum.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a computer running on Windows 7 with a GTX 290 card and a first gen i7 920 CPU. Ever since I built the computer a few years ago the start up is just over to the left, I can't see anything on the left side and the right side is just a black bar. The proper resolution isn't set until the log-in screen. The computer did this even when it was running on Vista. I've noticed my computer does this when running on certain resolutions that the monitor isn't good with. So my question is is there any way to change my resolution in my BIOS?

Does anyone know where I might the setting that allows my computer to need password access after it has been idle for a period of time? I use my office PC remotely quite a lot so therefore it must be left turned on in the office. At the moment the default seems to be set to never 'lock' of its own accord as it has been accessible this morning without a password.I have tried looking in control panel but cannot find anything there (unless I am a real dumbo which is always a possibility!)
