Increase WEI On Windows 7 Laptop
May 12, 2011What can I do to increase my WEI?My laptop is the Gateway MX8734, I have 1.5GB Ram currently installed, 2.0 is the max. That's all I can see in there. What else can be done?

Jan 29, 2012So the laptop in question is a 15,9" ASUS K53SV (I think, not 100% on the exact numbers/lettering) with an i7 2630, with integrated graphics chip AND a Geforce 540m. I suspect that the reason why I cannot increase my desktop resolution further is because that integrated chip insists on running instead of the dedicated GPU. Through Nvidea's control panel I have set the 540 to the preffered card, but this only seems to be applied on applications. I think I confirmed that by accessing advanced settings through the screen resolution menu, which clearly lists that integrated chip and not the 540.I also think it is questionable that my actual screen would not be able to support anything higher, since my 3 year old mid-range 15,9" HP laptop seemed to have no problem at all reaching 1680.

In windows xp I had 384mb of video ram when I was using 1gb system ram,now I 've upgraded to 2gb system ram and installed Windows 7 Ultimate.But,I ve only 64mb video ram,that means I can't play any decent game.Can I increase video ram?

When working with more than a coupe of images at a time I get out of memory errors in the VM, presumably due to the lack of free space for temp files in Lightroom and swap file usage. Is there an easy way to increase the VM drive or would it be simpler to delete the VM and set it up again with a larger drive.

Sep 8, 2010I use Windows Explorer heavily. I am constantly moving files and batches of files from one folder to another. I have one very annoying problem with this but I bet there is a way to fix it.Here's what I do - I highlight several files in the right pane, I hold down the right-mouse-button over the selected files, I drag them over to a folder in the left pane, and then the annoyance happens. If I don't drop those files immediately into that folder, the entire list of sub-folders pops open as if I hit the little plus to the left of the folder. What makes this a major annoyance is that the folder I wanted to move into has now changed its position in the left pane because the sub-folders popped open.
Now, sometimes I desperately need the sub-folder list to open because I forgot to find the folder I needed before moving the files. It is a nice feature. However, if only I could increase the delay-time. I'd like to give myself triple the time to drop the files into the folder before the sub-folder list opens. There has to be a registry tweak for this.

Apr 23, 2011I know there is probably a simple answer out there, however RAM is cheap right now and I though I would go ahead and future proof my system or whatever. My WEI with 4 GB RAM was 6.6 and after upgrading to 8 GB of Crucial RAM it was 6.6. I knew the difference from 4 to 8 would be negligible but I thought I would see a better score. The system does see 8 GB RAM by the way.
