View 2 Repliesrecently i made a few videos with fraps that took up around 110 gigs of space, so i decided to compress all that and upload to Internet, the amount of space the videos are taking up are now down to 70, but my free disk space hasn't increased, in fact it's decreasing as if i never deleted the videos, it isn't decreasing on it's own only if i make files, so basically it'll take up space and it just stays that way for some reason.i've looked around the internet for a solution, i have tried:disabling automatic backup, that didn't do anything. scanned my computer with malwarebytes to make sure it isn't some worm, nothing found. used disk cleanup, cleared up 900 mb but the free space still didn't change. used ccleaner, cleared up 500 mb but the free space still didn't change. used disk check, nothing bad was found. used windirstat, everything seems fine as it should be, but theres 100 gigs of <unknown>, and i have no freaking clue what it is. used spacesniffer, found absolutely nothing that would take up that much space,i would use defraggler, but it will take way too long so i'd use it when i have no other option, there's gotta be another way other than literally waiting over a day for defraggler to finish, and chances are that it wouldn't change anything as well meaning i would have wasted a bunch of time,

After deleting approx 25 restore points and I've deleted down to 2 currently (new ones) and the only way I could get them to go was with CCleaner, My disk now shows only 4.2 free of the setting of 10.6GB. I cannot find what it taking up over 6GB on my recovery disk.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu on my computer a few months ago and created another partition for it on my 1TB hard drive. I didn't really care for Ubuntu so I decided to delete the partition it was on. That might have been a mistake. Well, now there's 87.68GB of free space on my hard disk that I can't use and I don't know how to add it back to my c: partition.
There was another post about this a couple years ago, but I don't understand the instructions and am not actually sure if it worked. Can someone explain how to do this, please? I'm not completely computer illiterate, but I'm not familiar with partitioning disks. It was just the one time with Ubuntu.

Low disk space, Can transfer data on D drive to an external hard drive
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to reallocate unused space from D drive to C drive without losing any data?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI would like to know, if creating another partition, dedicated to media, would increase performance, and screen capture speed, like a separate hard disk would. I don't think it would because its still running on the same sata cable, meaning the transfer speed cant be dispersed, but I figured id ask to be sure. If I would get even a slight boost from this than I will defrag, and shrink my partition and add another for media.

how much space does win 7-64 take up on hard drive?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy girlfriend came to me saying she was trying to do something on her windows 7 computer and it said she had no space to complete or something. I have never owned a windows computer so I am a little rusty on the subject. Looking at her computer she has 58 GB on her C drive and a little under 400 GB on her D drive. She had ~175 GB free on her D drive and almost none on her C drive. Is there any way to take space from the D drive and add it to the C drive? Also, I think its odd that her C:/users folder is only 25 GB. My assumption is most everything she installs and adds to her computer will go into the users folder. If she has a 500 GB HDD, why would 60%+ of the HDD be in use? is windows 7 just that big?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to install windows 7 I get to the point where you have to select which drive/partition you want to install it on. This is when the installation hits a brick wall. I had recently backed up and reformatted a 270GB partition of my HDD and decided to use that to install my windows 7 on it. The problem is that when I try to install it on that partition it says that I don't have enought space even though it has 270GB free. I've tried running the setup from windows xp and from the disc via reboot.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just recently bought a new system and while installing Windows 7 Ultimate x64, I noticed that the hard drive was only using 2tb's of space. After some checking I found out the window's will only be able to use 2tb's unless I use the Hitachi's disk management tool to open the additional 1tb. Now the problem I am having is that the tool notes I need to convert the drive from MBR Disk to GPT Disk.
I was found several ways of doing this but none give me any information on how to do this if the drive itself is the primary boot drive for the PC. Unfortunately I don't have another hard drive or PC to throw the new one in just for the time being (I am assuming that this is one way to resolve this).Basically it doesn't let me convert the hard drive to GPT unless it is empty (again, I am assuming the OS needs to be gone as well).
I am having problems installing windows 7 on a fresh, formatted drive, it keeps telling me I don't have enough space to install windows seven on the drive, but its a 500gb Hitachi deskstar.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have one more problem with my laptop this time . i have a Dell xps 15 , i re partitioned it and made my C drive of 141 GB . i installed all the required application and from the last few days i was watching the there is less space in my C drive than it should be there. i checked out the properties and found out that only 32.6 GB of disk space is utilized out of 141 so there should be around 108 GB free instead it shows me that only 92.9 gb is free .i cleared out the temp folder and there is nothing except 3-4 files which is of some Kbs . then where is the rest 15 GB gone ? is there a virus in my pc which is eating up the space ? i am really freaked out
i have a genuine windows 7 ultimate and microsoft security essential and it is updated and i scanned it and found nothing . btw there is something more , few hours ago there was 94.8 GB free , i installed a game in another drive and i removed it after 2-3 minutes coz i didn't liked it , so after un installing the game i saw there there was 93.4 GB left in my c drive again , i removed files from the temp folder but nothing happened and now there is just 92.9 gb left ! what is happening ! i am really freaked out now
why a new hp computer with windows 7 is consuming over 50GB of the HDD?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 64-bit running on a OCZ Solid Series 30 Gb Solid State Drive. I seem to be struggling with disk space even though I didn't install any Gb-sized applications like recent games or 3d modelling programs. I have 4Gb of RAM so I'd like to have that space free for hibernation. Why is it that if I open "my computer" the C: drive appears as having 3.75 Gb free (from 30.0 Gb) but if I open the drive directory and select everything (windows files, programs, etc) and select "properties" what appears is "22.9 Gb, 23.1 Gb on disk" which should be leaving at least 6.9 Gb free? I do have "show hidden folders and files" selected.
