NetGear Wireless Adapter Will Not Detect?
Oct 18, 2012
I recently bypassed my previous BSOD issue by simply replacing my HDD with a SSD and doing a fresh install of Windows 7 64bit Pro.
Where the computer is currently located, I need to run wireless internet. To do this, I have used a NetGear wireless adapter "WNDA3100v2". It's a nice adapter, and it's worked fine for about 2 years, including immediately prior to adding my new SSD.
So I fire up my fresh copy of windows, and install my critical software. Once all of that is sorted, I go to install the drivers from the CD. I insert the USB adapter, and click next.
As soon as the adapter is inserted, Windows begins searching for a driver which fails. On the same instant that I click next, the proprietary software for the device says "detecting". This stays this way infinitely it seems, and never detects the device. If I just yank the adapter out, it will say "failed to detect", so this leads me to believe it is at least aware that it's there?
I tried to backdoor it, and ran a wired connection through my window, down the outside of the house, to my router LOL, and forced Windows to search for it's own updated driver. On most occasions, it just says "failed", but I was able to get it to find one last night, and it downloaded to 100% before it just hung up for a while, and then "failed".

I have read a number of other posts (here and elsewhere) about getting a WG111 to work with Windows 7 on my new computer and haven't had any success. Can someone help by providing click-by-click directions? I'm not a complete novice but clearly not clever enough to follow the directions previously posted. My kids are completely frustrated with having a new machine but being able to get online.

I've upgraded my PC to Windows 7 Home Premium today (from Win XP Pro) and now the wireless network adapter does not work.
The adapter is a Netgear WG331 v1. I've tried downloading the drivers from the Netgear site - both those for the v1 and the newer drivers for the v3 and neither have fixed the issue.
I've used the Win 7 troubleshoot feature to install this driver (it is meant to be included within Win 7) but this does not work either.
I've also tried plugging the ethernet cable that normally goes directly into the back of my Netgear router into the PC, in order to provide Win 7 with internet access. However, this has not worked, with the connection apparently not recognised by the computer. I've tried to update the drivers for my PC's motherboard to remedy this, but have been unable to find any that are compatible with this version of Windows. The motherboard is MSI n1996.
Windows 7 troubleshooter shows missing drivers for the following: Multimedia Audio Controller (two of these), PCI Input Device, Ethernet Controller.
What I'm banking on is that an internet connection will enable Win 7 to locate drivers for all of these, but I am currently unable to make this happen. The internet connection is running fine and the wireless router is broadcasting the signal properly (I am accessing it right now via my laptop).

A few months later i wanted to upgrade my 32 bit to 64, since i could only use 3,16 GB ram, and my computer has 8GB. So i bought a win 7 home premium 64 bit and installed it. Now i face the same problem, my computer can not detect any wireless network adapter, though i'm 99% sure that my computer has one.

I just upgraded my home network with wireless N.
USB wireless adapter is dlink DWA-130C, driver installed properly and windows 7 32bit detected it correctly as DWA-130C on device manager but it could not find any network in my area.
When I do troubleshoot, windows tell me that driver may not installed properly.
FYI it happened with my older G USB adapter too, when I uninstall the driver to update, it installed normally but then it does not detect any network. I have to do system restore to make it work again.
Any idea?

I just bought a Netgear WNA3100 wireless usb adapter for my HP Win 7 64 bit laptop. I have been trying for 2 and half days to figure out why my speed is slow, why i don't have a good signal, and/ or if I do have a bit of a signal to my luck, why my signal comes and goes. I don't have internet at home at the moment because I am trying to save up to go to school. I am picking up a public business signal from a block away (which I have asked for permission to use), but I only am receiving not much of a signal with the Netgear usb wireless adapter.

Just installed windows 7 64 bit.
I'm using a pci wireless adapter chip, Netgear wg311v3 I installed the netgear driver automatically, and then installed the netger smart wizard. However, the smart wizard will not start up. I've done some research, and apparently netgear doesn't make 64bit drivers. I've also tried using the chipset driver which is a Marvell 88w8335. But I may not have used the right driver.
To sum it up:
I have a netgear wg311v3 adapter. Running Windows 7 64bit. It won't run the wizard.
What should I do? Do I need to go back to 32 bit?

I have a Netgear DGNB2100 Wireless N router. It is connected to an old PC via Ethernet cable. That connection works.
While downloading a 64 bit driver to use for the USB adapter for my PC, I connected my laptop to the wireless network with the laptops WiFi card (Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG), and used the internet for about ten minutes.
I then configured the USB adapter for my PC, after disconnecting the laptop.
My laptop will detect the network, but when I put in the password, I get a message saying Network Security Key Mismatch, and am prompted to type the key in again.
I have also tried pressing the WPS button on the router instead of typing in the password with no luck.
The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5920, with the aforementioned Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG network card, and it is running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.

Just built a moderate spec gaming PC from scratch, and all has went according to plan except when I try to install Windows 7, my hard drive won't show up. My new motherboard doesn't have any IDE slots, but I only have an IDE hard drive. I am using a 'Pluscom Serial ATA PCI Adapter' to connect my hard drive to the computer as it has 1 IDE slot on it. I don't have a disc for drivers and don't know where to start. I am running Ubuntu on it at the moment so I can download any drivers I may need.

No WPS button exists on the router! The instructions also I can use any wireless network manager utility to set this up. Can't find where this is in Windows 7.The I pad has found the NETGEAR_EXT address but won't connect. And the light on the extender does no indicate teh router is communicating with it.

I recently bought a TP-LINK TL-WN350GD wireless network card, inserted it into a PCI-E slot and installed the drivers, but can't seem to get it to work. It appears in Device Manager as 'Atheros AR5007G Wireless Network Adapter' and apparently 'this device is working properly', but infuriatingly it won't detect any wireless networks. I've tried using the drivers that Windows 7 installed automatically and also the drivers that came on the disk with it, but all to no avail. When I troubleshoot the card, I get the message that 'there might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection 2 adapter', but this is all I can find. It's especially irritating as I picked the (admittedly lower-end) card because it's definitely compatible with Windows 7 (I already tried one which wasn't).My PC has Windows 7 64-bit, has an AMD Athlon 4600 dual core CPU and 2 gigs of RAM.

For the past few weeks I have been having problems with my HP laptop.
For starters my laptop will not restart. I try to restart it and it shuts down, but won't reboot all of the way. It gets stuck on the black screen you get just before the HP sceens comes up. So I have to press the power button ( after which I do, I get a loud POP sound before the computer shuts off ) and then turn it on again myself. Also, if my computer goes in to sleep mode due to inactivity, it will not wake up. I have to press the power button to turn it off, and then start it up again.
After this happens, my laptop cannot detect any networks. I have to unplug the charger, and then I have to take out the battery and put it back in before it detects networks.
I took it to best buy ( where I bought the computer and have a warranty at ) and they did a diagnostic test and determined that I had several viruses causing the problems. After paying 200 bucks they ''fixed'' my computer and I brought it home, only to have the same exact problems I was having before.

brand new lappy. its the Acer travelmate 5740G fantastic specs - everything is nice and responsive, except that i can't connect my wireless at uni. the tech guy had a look at it and he can't figure it out either. we did everything, including shutting down (eventually deleting) the AV because of its firewall. we set up the network exactly as everyone else does (and it works for everyone else).
the computer keeps suggesting that we check the router (but the router works). i can get net through RJ45 no worries but... i want my wireless to work.

I have just moved house and been given the internet details by the landlord. The provider is Virgin and the landlord asked for my MAC addresses of each device to allow access to the internet and gave me the password. I managed to connect on my iPhone and my housemate who is also running windows 7 off a laptop can also connect. However the network does not even appear in my wireless list. Several other wireless networks in the area are being detected but not the one in the house. I know it's not hidden as I can connect on other devices.
I have tried a manual setup with the network name, encryption etc and tick "allow connection even when network is hidden" but all to no avail. Unfortunately I have no access to the router as the landlord has that next door, however seems strange it would be a router issue if the other devices connect fine. I have been through all the settings with my housemate and ensured we have the same setup and am now thoroughly baffled and annoyed.
