I was attempting to install the display driver when I received this error message from Windows Update: "WindowsUpdate_80070006" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"
I searched Google and only found 7 results with no solutions. I attempted to get the drivers from the nVidia website and it informed me that I needed to get the drivers from my computer's manufacturer (HP)-so I went there. The only thing offered on my particular notebook's support page was an update for the Wireless Assistant.
Has anyone else encountered an error when installing nVidia drivers on their laptop or received that particular error from Windows Update?

I recently installed windows 7 ultimate and i have some serious issues with it.
at first when i installed it, and it booted for the first time into windows i got the BSOD everytime, only way i got passed it was to boot up with driver certification disabled. i was finally able to boot into windows 7.
First thing i noticed was that everything responded very slow, if i clicked the start button it took up to 5 seconds for it to respond. still everything acts very slow.
so after a while i got the error "display driver nvidia windows kernel mode driver 195.39 stopped responding and has recovered succesfully"
so my screen starts to flicker black, and i get the BSOD once in a while. I can't run the performance test because my system freezes up. i tried upgrading/downgrading nvidia drivers, installed direct x disable aero and so on, ive done alot of research on the web but i can't find any solutions to it.

Could anybody help me out with this or point me in the right direction?
Whenever I try and install Windows 7 build 7068 or 7077 the installation process freezes and after a while i get a "DRIVER_STATE_POWER_ERROR", If I then restart the machine the installation process starts up again but just hangs.
I have tried this with both a clean install and an upgrade and I get the same thing.
However, build 7000 and build 7057 install fine.
I am using a gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H motherboard with the Nvidia 9400 chipset with a mirrored RAID configuration on two of the hard disks. The windows partition is on a non raided disk. The video is outputted via HDMI and the audio via optical to my AV reciever (Harman Kardon AVR-255)
also another thing, build 7057 seems to work fine as I am using it only as media center. HD video, dixv, mp3, recorded and live TV are all fine in media center and the configuration to pass DOLBY, DTS and AC3 5.1 surround sound to my AV reciever works perfectly. However, whenever I try to play a DVD, the screen stutters and flickers every few seconds as though the signal is lost. If i plug the HDMI cable directly in to my samsung plasma, the problem goes away!
If this was happening with all video I could put it down to the nvidia drivers not sending a correctly formatted signal, but it is only with DVD playback. I have tried the drivers which were installed automatically with win7 and the nvidia windows 7 beta drivers and I still get the same problem.

HP Pavilion DM1 notebook with Windows 7 OS 64 bit version has been experiencing BSOD many times for the past few weeks. Normally, the BSOD occurs when there is a sudden interruption in the Internet connection (Internet connection is through a USB modem as a dial-up connection). In such a case, the system refuses to acknowledge the presence of the USB in the port. After approx. 10 minutes the BSOD occurs. Else, if the Shut Down command is given, the Shutting Down screen appears, it remains for around 10 minutes and BSOD occurs eventually. The screen that appears is as follows:
DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE
Technical Information:
STOP : 0X0000009F 0X0000000000000004 0XFFFFFA800141DB50 OXFFFFF80000B9C510
Problem Event Name: Blue Screen
OS Version - 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.2

"The system has rebooted completely without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed or lost power unexpectedly" The system is approx. 1 year old. The OS is Windows 7 Home Basic 64 bit OEM version. The OS is also 1 year old. No re-installation has been done. BIOS update not done. Windows Security Essentials has been installed successfully, that means the original OS has been pre-installed. I got a NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M grafical card in my notebook. However, most of the time I use the Intel integrated graphics (Ci7-2670QM processor). All NVIDIA drivers and NVIDIA applications are installed too. When I double-click any 3D picture file (*.jps file), the NVIDIA 3D Vision Photo Viewer is then called;however, the app doesn't seem to find the display adapter of nvidia and generates an error:"primary display's adapter does not support nvidia 3d vision".I tried to fix the problem using the NVIDIA's Control Panel by setting the gt540m as the preferred gpu, and rebooting the computer a few times, but it does not the error keeps on popping up. I've also associated the gt540m as the preferred gpu specifically for the /NVIDIA 3D Vision Photo Viewer/ app, but also that doest even after a few reboots.I read somewhere one should install the NVIDIA Optimus app but I prefer to solve the problem manually and not let the problem be solved in a hidden way by some other app---Optimus in this case

Acer Aspire 5551

Two days ago, my brother complained to me about his laptop, Windows seemed to have just froze, with screen tearing and weird lines all over the screen. I told him to restart his laptop. Upon restarting, the entire was black, with the windows logo stretched across the screen, all torn. But I could still hear the Windows noises it makes when it logs in, So this got me thinking, could it be an issue with his Display Driver?
I booted in Safe Mode to see if it would boot up, it works fine. No black screen, no tearing, nothing. Which makes me think that it must be a issue with his Driver. I asked him if he's made any changes recently to his drivers and he said no.
I next went into the Device Manager to find his Display Adapter, and I disabled it. I then restarted his laptop to see if it'll work, and it worked. No problem, no screen tearing, it logged him in fine. I next went about uninstalling and reinstalling his driver.
I rebooted it into Safe Mode and uninstalled his driver from the Device Manager. Then, I went about reinstalling it again, so I went to the ATI website, AMD or something I think it was called, and I had to download the AMD Vistion Engine Control Center. It found drivers for several things, including his Display Graphics. So I downloaded them, installed them. I restarted his laptop, but the same thing happened. Black Screen, screen tearing, Windows Logo stretched and torn.

I'd like to preface this post by mentioning that I have searched these and other forums about this issue and have found people that have had similar problems, but I don't think they are explaining things properly/as clearly as they could be. I'm hoping that I could give a little more incite into what's happening.
My laptop has Windows 7 Ultimate x64. The power options are set to "High Performance" which means that the system never goes to "Sleep" whether it is plugged in or not. However, the display is set to "Turn Off" at 5 minutes on battery or 10 minutes while plugged in.
Here is the issue: After my system's display has "Turned Off" due to inactivity, I will hit a key or move my mouse to bring the display back. Sometimes (not all the time), the laptop display will remain inactive. However, I do have two external displays hooked up. When this problem occurs, I can see my cursor on the two external displays.
Now, in most posts, people say they fix the problem by restarting their computer. I've found a different fix that doesn't require a restart. I'm able to log into the system while the screen is still off (ctrl+alt+del, type in password, press enter). Once logged in, I can see my desktop on the two external screens, but not on my laptop's native display. I then hit ctrl+alt+del, and my laptop's native display returns from it's off state. I press esc and everything is back to normal.
I've seen this now on a couple of systems in the office. We all have generally the same setup:
Dell Precision M4500 Laptop
NVIDIA Quadro Notebook 880M on latest drivers
High Performance Power Option Enabled
Two External Monitors (one plugged directly into the VGA port on the laptop, another using a USB to DVI Adapter) - Monitors differ from laptop to laptop
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Same patches, same software.
So I'm not sure what's causing this. I'm still attempting to recreate the problem. I have a feeling that it only happens when I lock my system and THEN the display turns off rather than the display turning off and the system locking itself. Not sure what difference that makes, but I'll keep testing it.

I have been receiving the ATI display driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered error. I formatted a partition on my PC with a fresh install of windows 7, installed latest catalyst drivers but no dice, ramped my fan speed up to 100% to troubleshoot and it definitely worked, stopped getting the error but pc starts seriously lagging after a while (playing spore & Black and White 2) playability also increases if I down the res from 1920 x 1080. This seems to indicate overheating n my opinion but I haven't seen the card go above 57 degrees. My chassis has no fans but with everything at stock should it overheat especially on old games. I have run Prime95 and Furmark all came out fine, no glitches. Max temp on Furmark was 84 degrees.

So I have a pretty terrible problem. Right now, I'm running Windows 7 Build 7100 on a Toshiba Satellite Laptop with Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor T3400 at 2.17 GHz and it runs beautifully.
My only problem comes when I'm playing a little game called Guild Wars. It runs pretty good for a while and then I run into my problem. My problem is that my screen goes completely blank and then reappears with this error message.
It happens to me every time I play Guild Wars. It never fails.
Anybody know why it does this? Any advice on what to do?

My laptop goes totally black for about 2 -3 seconds, and then completely recovers. A pop-up error message then says:"Display Driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."This has now happened several times, at random, while I'm on my laptop. Doesn't seem to matter what I'm working on at the time.

I am trying to load the site MYHABIT Sign In (don't judge me, ok? lol) and it won't load at all. If I delete the cookies it places on my computer, the home page will load and it will let me log in, but it won't load any of the merchandise pages at all - it just hangs there trying to load - I never get an error of any kind. I had been using OpenDNS after having some other trouble with my ISP, so I tried switching to GoogleDNS but that has made no difference.I ran the flushdns.bat file as instructed in the tips for posting thread, but forgot to save the snip as a jpeg before I ran the bat file.

I am a bit stumped here, my computer at work is getting the display error mentionedabove about every 4 or 5 days or so. When this error occurs the computer unresponsive, it will operate, but at an untolerable speed (like 5 minutes to open browser, during which time the mouse will not even move) The PC is a Dell vostro 220 -[URL]have searched for this error ongoogle and as well as here, but it seems as though this only seems to be happening tothose with discrete GPU's which we do not have. I have installed all windows updatesincluding one for the G45/43 express graphics, and it is still happening

about a year ago I had a problem with my pc where I would get the error message "display driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered" and the occasional BSOD. I solved this problem by simply flashing my bios. However a similar problem has now arrived ( note I have not changed any hardware since the last error) where:
- There is a constant buzzing from my monitor ( NOT a problem with the monitor as it works fine in safe mode with no buzzing, which is why I suspect a gpu problem)
- I get random "display driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered" messages, but no BSODs. OR the display just goes black and I have to hard reset my pc.
