My laptop goes totally black for about 2 -3 seconds, and then completely recovers. A pop-up error message then says:"Display Driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."This has now happened several times, at random, while I'm on my laptop. Doesn't seem to matter what I'm working on at the time.

No problems, however the last 48 hours my screen goes black then sometimes it will come back on and say that my display driver crashed. I've tried looking around but i see no error reports or anything on the driver. I am using a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS. I just uploaded the complete system specs to the website.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I got rid of my Windows XP and installed Windows 7. In the beginning I didn't notice any discrepancies and I started filling my computer with useful programs. I was interrupted by a crash that basically makes the screen become dark blue with lines going diagonal. Also what was strange was that when I used button combos such as alt+F4 and ctrl+alt+del it changed color and I could hear background noise the same as when it is running normally. Therefore, to sum it up, my monitor display crashes randomly even upon startup or when I use some programs. As a result I tried the Windows 7 compatibility checker and everything seemed alright.

I have the CPU overclocked to about ~4.4Ghz using the ASUS motherboard's TPU switch and the AI Suite II's automatic overclocking utility. My main issue has been more of an annoyance than something that keeps the computer from functioning. I have been attempting to overclock the GPU which is pretty much made for overclocking considering it has the TwinFrozer IV cooler along with other OC features. My problem though is that even with minor overclocks like 1140 Mhz core clock and 1250 Mhz memory clock while playing pretty much any game I'm having issues with the display driver crashing (I'm assuming that's what is happening as the game freezes, goes black and then flashes back.)
This is as compared to the default speeds of 1100 core clock and 1200 memory clock. Not only does the display driver crash I also get BSODs every so often, eight in total now. The BSODs I'm getting mostly have the error code 0xA0000001 which seems to be cause by atikmdag.sys usually. I also recently tried using 3DMark 11 to benchmark the system and it would actually perform worse when I overclocked the card. The CPU score was always good but the GPU score was rather low. For overclocking I am using MSI Afterburner and watching the GPU temps they have never gone over 53C which I know is a safe temp. I have BlueScreenView and Windows Debugging Tools installed if you would like more information on the BSODs or any other information.

open the catylist control center, click on power play, and there are 2 sliders and u must set these up to OPTIMUM COMPUTER PERFORMANCE and NOT ON THE OPTIMUM BATTERY LIFE.
That is the message I get right after my videos crash. The whole screen blacks out and turns green. I'm not sure if it is Google Chrome or if it's my computer.

I've played well over 350 hours of Battlefield 3 without a problem until I reformatted my computer for other, since resolved, issues. After the reformat It just wouldn't work. As previously mentioned I've tried all the common solutions for my issues, starting out assuming it was Battlefield that was causing them.I'm hoping it's not a hardware related issue, but I have a feeling that it might be. I've had this computer (custom built) for just over a year and a half.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am a computer musician using a PC running Windows 7. My problems began when I was working on a new track in Abelton Live 8. I had a decent size project running when Abelton crashed. It was late so I just shut down my PC and went to bed. The next afternoon, everything booted up fine. I loaded Abelton and the project I was working on. As soon as the project opened I got a blue screen. I tried restarting my computer and this time Windows would not even boot. I received an error message saying BAD_POOL_CALLER. I restarted in Safe Mode and Windows was able to boot, but an error box came up saying that it could not load NVCP.dll. I contacted my computer guy and he said that file is for my NVidia drivers and that I should uninstall them, try to boot and if that worked then reinstall them with the latest version. I go into the Control Panel and try to Remove Program but the NVidia driver will not uninstall. There are 5 drivers listed for NVidia and 4 of them will uninstall by themselves, but one of them is completely unresponsive. Every time I select it and hit uninstall it just sits there and nothing happens. I tried reinstalling the drivers but it gives me an error every time it begins to unpack the zip file so I can't do that either. I've tried in both Safe Mode and Normal but I keep getting blue screen crashes as I'm trying to fix the problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedInstalled Windows 7 last night. Everything seems fine except two of the screen savers – Goldfish Aquarium 2 and Marine Aquarium 2 + Time both cause the following error message to pop up when selected (and neither work):

I have found a number of different things on the code LP5 error, but nothing specific to these two programs.
Any ideas? Anyone know how to fix this? Anyone have the same issue?

i have downloaded from my university Windows 7 x64 version (the free copy for students build 7600) but i have also tryed 2 other versions (rc i think, both 64 and 32) with no success.
first of all, the starting installation page is very slow, after 4-5 minuts on "setup is starting" (advance mode, not upgrade), and at the second step (expanding windows files 0%)
installation crashes with blue screen:
first time i get: bad pool header error
second time i m on another blue screen: "a device driver attemptingto corrupt the system has been caught. the faulty driver currently on the kernel stack must be replaced.."
now i will try the 3rd time to install in "safe mode" and i post new info here.
if u need something more to know for helping me ill provide them as fast as possible.
Every time I try to start a certain game,(Borderlands 2) I get this error screen and my computer restarts. I�ve been using it mainly as an OTA DVR and it does wake up,record, etc.I went to program a recording & it was already awake & the HDD indicator LED was on. However the HDTV had a black screen with a message to select boot device & press any key. This was not a BSOD but a black screen. There was no way to select anything as every time I pressed a key the same message displayed another time. I finally powered off.Another program was scheduled to record at this time but it should not have. It was a series schedule set for new but this episode was not. That�s one strike against the EPG. Anyway it started recording after I booted back up but it was missing the first 40 minutes because I booted up 40 minutes into the program.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter restarting Windows 7 it gets to the login screen (the one that says "Windows 7" at the bottom) that is supposed to show the available profiles. But no profiles are shown. After about 30 seconds an error message pops up that appears to be in the "Wingdings" or some similar font. It's gibberish. I can't find any info on this anywhere.I was able to get into a command prompt by booting to the repair console thing from the Windows disc. Startup repair did nothing. I tried the fix mbr, rebuild bcd, and fix boot commands and they didn't help. I actually started getting a black screen at bootup that saied winload.exe cannot be verified. I seem to have "fixed" that but now am back at this error message. It's the oddest thing I've ever seen.It does the same with "safe mode" (minus the error message) and even with "last know good...". the cursors stays on screen and can be moved, plus every few seconds the screen flashes black very quickly. Does the error message look familiar to anyone (except for the font used of course). Note that going into the repair disc and using start-up repair did nothing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOnce in a while (once a day for the past 3 days) my computer screen goes blank (black) and everything freezes. Once it happened while I had a song playing and the music kept going for another 20 seconds or so until it freezes and makes a buzzing sound. I had this problem before in the past but it disappeared when I created a new profile (because my old one got corrupted due to the crashes). I believe it is my display driver that crashes as in the past it has recovered once, and it said it was the display driver that stopped working. I believe I have the most up to date drivers as I went to device manager and clicked update and it noted that I have the most up to date drivers on my video card. These crashes happen when I am browsing the web, and not playing video games.

Two days ago, my brother complained to me about his laptop, Windows seemed to have just froze, with screen tearing and weird lines all over the screen. I told him to restart his laptop. Upon restarting, the entire was black, with the windows logo stretched across the screen, all torn. But I could still hear the Windows noises it makes when it logs in, So this got me thinking, could it be an issue with his Display Driver?
I booted in Safe Mode to see if it would boot up, it works fine. No black screen, no tearing, nothing. Which makes me think that it must be a issue with his Driver. I asked him if he's made any changes recently to his drivers and he said no.
I next went into the Device Manager to find his Display Adapter, and I disabled it. I then restarted his laptop to see if it'll work, and it worked. No problem, no screen tearing, it logged him in fine. I next went about uninstalling and reinstalling his driver.
I rebooted it into Safe Mode and uninstalled his driver from the Device Manager. Then, I went about reinstalling it again, so I went to the ATI website, AMD or something I think it was called, and I had to download the AMD Vistion Engine Control Center. It found drivers for several things, including his Display Graphics. So I downloaded them, installed them. I restarted his laptop, but the same thing happened. Black Screen, screen tearing, Windows Logo stretched and torn.
