View 1 Replies View RelatedStarting about a week ago, my lenova v570 laptop started acting weird.
When i shut down the computer the screen turns off, but the lights and fans are still running, i have left it for several minutes and nothing happens. i end up holding the power button for about 10 seconds to turn it off. And when i do turn the computer back on a notepad opens up named "debug" containing a very long message starting with "[1204/172346:ERROR:backend_impl.cc(2086)] Corrupt Index file[1204/172346:ERROR:cache_util_win.cc(43)]"
This has been happening for the past several days now and i have come to worry a lot about the situation. I am not much of a computer..

Fortunately, I still have my power, but I was hoping I could find an alarm that would sound whenever my Laptop switches from AC power to the battery power. When the power goes out I need to immediately run outside and fire up the generator so my basement doesn't flood... and without an alarm, I'll sleep right through the power going out. But, I'm tired. I have a toddler that wore my ass out today... and I can't stay up all night. So, I'm hoping to get some sleep before I lose power. That's why I need this.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo here is the deal: about 6 months ago I purchased a brand new laptop and connected it to my DLink router that has been working on our PC for about 3 years now. I also have 2 Playstations and 2 other laptops connected to the D Link (all of which are working fine and NEVER have any problems whatsoever). About 3 weeks ago, I turned my laptop on and tried going online, but much to my surprise, it couldnt connect. Its supposed to automatically connect, but this time it didnt. I figured I would manually connect it. I opened up the window that displays all the routers that the laptop is picking up and i saw my D Link so I try to connect. It attempts, then says "connected" and the after 3 seconds or so, it says "Limited Access". I thought it was a problem with the internet so I checked the other laptops in the house and the Playstation and they are all working fine. I figured it was my laptop so I shut it off and restarted it but it did not work. Next, I tried unplugging the router and waited for 2 minutes or so and plugged it back in. Yay! It worked! I solved the problem! I began surfing the internet for a couple hours when, BAM! It suddenly went out again. I figured I would unplug the router once again to see if it was just some kind of glitch and would work fine this time. I unplug it and repeat the process over again. after 2 hours, it goes out. Everything else in this house seems to be working just fine on the router with no problems whatsoever, except mine. I have not messed with any of the configurations because I have not idea where to even begin so I know it cant be with the configurations. My laptop is new with windows 7, I'm using xfinity as a provider.
Side note- I did a test and when I cant connect to the internet with my laptop it fails a "PING" test (no idea what that is), but when I unplug and plug up the router and the internet is fine on the laptop, it will pass the "PING" test.
I have a Sony Vaio laptop, obviously with Windows 7, service pack 1. It's a little over a year old I believe. It's 64-bit with 4 gb of ram.A few months ago I would say, the laptop stopped "staying" asleep. It's set to go to sleep when I shut the lid, and it does, however the slightest movement, even with the lid closed, causes it to turn back on. This happens if I move it into the case, or even carry it from one room to the next. I don't know if this is supposed to happen, but I just tried manually putting it to sleep, and before I could close the lid, it moved slightly and turned back on.Currently my only solution is to manually set it to hibernate
View 1 Replies View Related1) Since about 2-3 days ago, my laptop wouldn't stay connected to wireless once I put the laptop on standby. I have to connect to it each time I open my laptop. This has never happened before so I feel like something went wrong.
2) My wireless won't connect to any other connections other than my home. I went on a ski trip recently, and while my wireless worked on my iphone and ipad, my laptop wasn't able to connect to it. I feel like this laptop has a lot of weird configuration problems. It also won't connect to my home network unless SSID is disabled. So this brings up the question, will my laptop never be able to connect to any network that has SSID enabled? This is really weird and frustrating because my laptop used to be able to connect to my home router fine while its SSID was enabled. I don't get what happened to it. This is troublesome because that means that I will never be able to use wireless anywhere else other than my home.
my settings regarding wireless? Does anything seem abnormal?

View 16 Replies View RelatedI hope someone can help me with this. I work from home (office is 70 miles away), and my Lenovo T420 Windows 7 will not stay connected via WiFi to my Verizon MI424WR ver I router. I had this problem with my old router (MI242WR rev E), and I was able to fix it by turning off the Power Management option to "power off to save power" My Lenovo is using Centrino Advanced-N 6205 Wifi chip. It reads as "working properly".
It seem obvious that there is an issue between the Lenovo and the new MI424. I have 10 other devices connecting to the MI424 without a problem. I have shut down devices to ensure that their is not an over burdening the AP issue.
Specifically, the Lenovo successfully pairs with the MI424, tries to establish an Internet connection, fails, and drops the connection (or the router does - I assume it is the laptop.) It's worked great for about 4 hours this am, then it quit working. I:
- shutdown the laptop, pulled power and battery
- shut off the network, pulled the plug and let it sit for a while
- restarted everything and the issue will not go away
It works fine @ work with a Cisco Network.
My company uses some McAfee SW for laptop security. Since I was blissfully working for hours and this just started up, I do not think that has anything to do with it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've only noticed this on Windows 7, I have NO idea what's going on.
I know sometimes when your computer is badly frozen that the keyboard won't respond and the lights won't even respond when you press numlock and capslock.
Well my keyboard works just fine (I'm typing from it now) but the LIGHTS do not! The numlock light is on, the capslock and scroll lock lights are off. They won't change no matter what I do. Same with numlock. The lights stays on even when it's off.
If I press capslock I still get capslock SEE. But the lights won't change. O.o
Obviously it's not a major issue that's inhibiting my experience but it is a little confusing because I can't tell what locks are on or off.
just noticed my cd drive light flashing on/off constantly during playback and the HD light is flashing in exactly the same rythym. totally wierd, never noticed anything like that before! is that unusual or just...something new? using windows 7.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI remember seeing in a thread a long time ago on here that there was a way to get network activity lights in the system tray using a 3rd party application.
Does anyone know of one that works in Windows 7 and doesn't have much of an overhead? I have found some that add a new icon to the system tray, but it would be better if it could replace the existing network connection icon if possible.

I am planning on holding a LAN Party in a month or 2 and requier a bit of help because it is my first. About 6 - 10 people will be coming.
I need help on a few things and any imput people could put in would be greatly appreciated because I am very lost!
I was planning on purchasing a switch (Still not sure what to purchase yet. I am looking for something around 10 ports) and connecting it directly by a network cable to my Belkin Wireless G Universal Range Extender Router. Then connecting all the computers to the switch. All the computers connected to the switch will be running either XP, Vista or 7.
Is this going to work? What kind of settings am I going to need to change on the OS's to make them all be able to interact with each other in the games. Are their easier ways to do this?
I have no previous networking experience and am only 14, so go easy.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI built a new computer at the start of last month based on a core i7 930. I loaded Windows 7 64bit with no problems and left the system running overnight doing some stress tests. In the morning things were still fine so I loaded up some app's and used the computer for about 3 hours without trouble. The problem came when I tried a restart where the PC got as far as the starting windows screen then switched off. No BSOD no errors just off. At first I thought I had a hardware fault but after reloading windows the problem went away.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst off, I'm using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.6Ghz, a 2-year old Powercolor Ati Radeon HD4870, an 8-year old Philips 107T CRT monitor, 4GB RAM, 600W power supply. I'm using a VGA-DVI adaptor to connect the monitor to the 4870 DVI port. Now, what's been happening is that sometimes my monitor would go off randomly. Can't reproduce the problem if I try.Another problem which I'm not sure if it's related is that sometimes when I boot up the computer, 8 beeps are heard, and nothing displays on the monitor. I'm able to get it to display by switching off and on the system, sometimes a few times. I just re-installed Windows, got the latest updates for the graphics drivers, and I thought everything would be fine. But my monitor froze when I was surfing, and when I reset the system, the problem happened again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHave an MSI laptop that runs Windows 7 32 bit version. Recently it has a tendency to reboot when I come back to use it after the screen has switched off. When I get back, there is the blue screen and then it asks whether I want to reboot as normal. Upon restart it says that Windows closed down unexpectadly etc.I have tried to look at the crash dump files, but I must admit I am not that much closer to understand what the problem is. It happens a few times a day. Could it be related to the HDMI cable that I have recently purchased and occasionally plug in/out during the day in order to watch movies over the TV? However, it crashes also when the cable is not in.

So ive run out of ports on my router (D-Link DIR-825) and my 8 port switch (ASUS GX-D1081). I recently went out and bought an identical 8 port switch. When I try and plug this new switch into my router any device connected to the switch does not receive and IP address. Am I doing anything wrong or forgetting to enable some setting.
