My Monitor won't at all turn on, I have no clue to what it is, or how it happened, it was working perfectly fine about 11 hours ago from when I was last on it. I try turn on the button on the screen and it won't turn on, the computer itself is fine, it turns on smoothly, and you can hear the start-up process in the computer but the screen is black, (won't turn on).

The computer turns on everything initiates like normal but the monitor wont turn on, im not getting any signal. There are no beep codes etc, also ive tried removing the little lithium battery to reset the bios and still nothing. Ive tried using a different monitor and its saying no signal. I have another computer which is having the same problem its a acer something 1 gig of ram 250 hdd and a readeon graphics card...cant remember the exact name. With this computer i was attempting to add more ram to the extra ram slots and the computer booted up and worked but i only had 2.50 gigs of ram rather than 5? So i turned it off and repositioned theram.which now i wished i hadnt, i now get no signal from either of the computers.
View 12 Replies View Relatedmy monitor exhibited signs of flickering during start-up, but only minor ones and would just stop at the 'Welcome' screen of windows so I didn't give it much thought. Iv'e been using it with the cpu the same time I bought the monitor.But after some time, the flickering got worse. It went from 1-2 second interval flickers to a whole 10 seconds of blackness before it showed anything.Now,Iv'e got a new cpu but still using the old monitor. After a day or so, the monitor exhibited the first symptoms of my first cpu, so I just dismissed it. But after a week, It got a hell worse, before I even start-up my computer, the monitor doesn't show Analog/Digital at the top-left corner of the screen. PLUS my cpu keeps restarting after I pushed the ON button after 10 seconds or so. Is the monitor responsible for the restart and what could be the reason for the flickering?
View 3 Replies View Relatedso i finally decided to install Windows 7 x86 - everything went well - put all the standard stuff on there etc - i rebooted many times because of installations and updates
on my last reboot it just got stock in the bios screen (verifying dmi pool data..success! etc)
so i rebooted, same thing, took the disc out, same thing - turned off boot devices same thing
tried to use window's useless repair tools (whatever happened to repair install?) which didn't help - so i decided to format and reinstall - then it says it was unable to do that (partition error or something)
the annoying this is...is that this EXACT..i mean EXACT same thing happened when i installed vista sp1 from scratch - this happened - and to fix it i had to leave my pc open overnight with the hard drive cables all unplugged..in the morning with my fingers crossed i tried the installation again - and it worked.
my d: always disappears (single hard disk sata 233gig (250)) - sometimes it'll vanish from my computer and stuff - but this can't be the problem because the d: is a single drive on its own - my c: is a25gig partition from my e: - so it's completely unrelated.
does it matter how i replug the sata cables (2 of them) into the mother board? - they're both being recognised anyway
this is really annoying though - mostly because there isn't really an explanation - and because this random stuff always happens to my pc! - is it my hard drive because that's the only thing that would half- make sense
my Laptop monitor can't turn off even i had change the power plan setting "when to turn of the LCD" and also download software to turn of my Laptop screen manually, the screen just turn off and it on again. A week ago a friend gave me a generic tower with: [code] Power supply says made in 2002, so I'll have to guess the computer was made around that time and has windows XP installed.When I got it, it would not turn on (power connections to all drives were disconnected), now she turns on (all drives, fans (2) and mouse light up) but it won't turn on the monitor (monitor works on my other tower). I hear a few beeps when powered up (three I believe), could the graphics card be bad or do you think it's something else. Just want to use it to surf the net maybe burn cd/dvd's unless what's in there is useless, then I'll gut it out and use it for something else. but for now I would like to see it turn on the monitor and show the set up screen.

I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my MSI PR200 (MS-1221). Intel (R) 965 Express Chipset Family . Current Latest Bios Version 1.5 It works perfectly.However, I want to program my screen to shut down after 2 minutes (either plugged to AC or battery mode). But it does not work. I've installed the drivers available online, at the MSI web site. Yet, the problem is not gone.

I suspect it might be an ssd problem because when it won't turn on there is minimal activity with the hard disc LED light.I've also disabled sleep, hybrid sleep and the page file thingie. View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem for a long time now and have found various, unreliable solutions each time. The basic problem is that my computer will turn on, the fans will turn on, the mouse and keyboard turn on, the CD drive turns on, the disk access light blinks, and everything seems to be working fine, but the monitor won't turn on. I'm using dual LG monitors, connected to one of my two NVIDIA 8600 GT graphics cards which are SLI'd together.I have about a 1 in 100 chance of the monitor actually turning on (which is to say that out of about 100 tries just turning on and off the computer, the monitor will turn on). In the event that the monitor does turn on, I get the "windows did not start up correctly" error, at which point I try to run startup repair, with varying degrees of success.
About 1 in every 5 times, a system restore back to before I installed the updates on my computer will work. For the other 4 times, system restore will either fail, or when restarting the computer, the monitor again fails to turn on. However, when this does work, the updates which I had installed end up not installed, and the next time I shut down my computer, I have to repeat the same process again.I've also confirmed that it must have something to do with the system updates. If I force shut-down my computer without installing updates, I have no problems turning it back on. I'll get the start-up message that windows did not shut down correctly, and I'll be asked if I want to start in safe mode, etc. However, picking "start windows normally" works just fine. Additionally, if instead of shutting down the computer I hibernate the computer, it also starts up just fine. The problem only arises when I click "shut down" and updates are installed. Any other form of shutting down or stand-by works just fine.
I assume something is polling the web or keeping my monitors alive but I can't figure it out.nothing has changed in my setup other than a possible windows update but in the last few weeks my screensaver stays on 24/7.I played with it today and got it to shut off but i set the screen off time at 2 minutes, just 1 minute after the screen saver.I am using ultramon on a dual monitor setup. and for a screensaver I am using gPhotoShow. (allows separate/distinct slideshows for each monitor) as I have been for several years.my assumption is something is now polling the net or doing some activity that is preventing the monitor from sleeping. So I'm wondering if there is a logging program that I can use to track this down. i did hijack this but that isn't helping (as far as I can tell)

Why does my screen sometimes goes blank after a period of inactivity ( like 8 hours )? And sometimes not!. My monitor screen just turns off ( yellow light ). Then i just turn my mouse and screen goes back to normal. ITS TOTALLY RANDOM!

so the Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit install is fresh, and all the drivers are the latest available. I have updated my mobo's bios to the latest version through Asus' "AI Suite II" which makes things very simple. I want my PC to be able to go into sleep mode but I don't want to have to force shutdown every time it goes into sleep mode after a time span. For some reason if I wake my PC after its been in sleep mode for a short period everything turns back on just fine... I know there might be a solution through the configuration panel

My former one turns its monitor off when I close the lid for, say 45deg, and I The built-in hotkey to turn off the monitor first appeared to work, but when I looked closely, it just turn off the backlight or something. I can still see the screen's content!I'm now using some apps to force turn off the monitor, but it's a bit inconvenient.I've been wondering: is there a way to configure the angle in which the monitor will turn off automatically? I've read a post elsewhere saying there's a built-in hardware based switch that detects this action, and it can't be configured otherwise. Is this true?

View 10 Replies View RelatedSo on Friday installed a new video card (7850) and this morning I had opened up the case as I have been experiencing some freezing with the new card (reason why I replaced the old card) however I have never had sound issues.I did the following prior to leaving today:Rebooted system a few times, had removed video card a few times, inserted monitor cable into the motherboard, booted that up, disabled the vga adapter, then rebooted and turned it on again (figured it might help with the freezing) I also pressed the reset button that is ON this motherboard (Asus P8z68-V Pro)So in any event long story short, When I came home today i didnt hear sound. I have tried just about everything, the Windows 7 seems to reflect sound is "fine" all the drivers are fine, I see the volume going up, I know the right speaker is "default" nothing is muted. I remove the speakers plug them into the other computer and they work fine. Also the head phones don't work in any slot either (i have several jacks on the computer for headphones)I am thinking during the reboot I have fried something on the MB preventing me from using the analog cables for sound. Should I try the HDMI on the video card to avoid having to replace the MB if this was the case? Windows 7 does not tell me anything is wrong with any hardware.I even updated the drivers for sound etc but remember this is a sudden issue, thats why I dont think its a "setting" problem.

My laptop was hooked up by broadband cable to the faceplate and was working fine, but now both cabled and wireless internet don't work, however I can connect to wifi on mobile. The troubleshooter does not run, it just reads error. I bought a brand new cable but still no luck, have tried undoing system updates but it has merely made it worse

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running a homemade rig, which worked fine on my 42" TV as a "HTPC/Gamer." Moved it from its spot in the entertainment center to my desk and BAM! Locks up or hangs during gaming. Zero activity, temps on my Strike-X drop to ambient, no Ctrl+Alt+Deletes, power button press resets, or power button hold resets. Only option is to flip the power switch on the PSU. Now, here's the kicker, when I lay the case horizontally, it works without a hitch.

Now, I've ran a compliment of stress tests with the PC laying flat, no problems or spikes or anything. Furmark, Prime95, Unigine Heaven DX11, even CustomPC (a UK magazines') benchmarking suite for hours, no problems.
I've already updated BIOS for the Mobo and Video. Up to date drivers all around (as of 1/28/2012).
My computer boots up fine. All programs work fine. While I'm not using it (at least it hasn't happened while I'm using it) I hear it beep once and when I go to check the computer the screen wont show any picture, it's like the monitor is on but the PC is off.PC light is still on, hard drive still spinning and the fans are still on.I have to reset the PC and I get the "Windows was not properly shut down" message upon reboot.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIt started out of nowhere last week - computer restarted itself twice, then BSOD. When starting Windows normally, it would appear as soon as I logged in. However, computer ran fine in Safe Mode and also ran fine under normal conditions if the internet was unplugged. I eventually diagnosed that the issue was caused by an AVG module when it connected to the internet. So, I uninstalled AVG and verified that the computer ran fine while connected to the internet. I then reinstalled AVG, thinking I had solved the problem.
Now the BSOD appears as soon as I log into Windows (same as last time). Except this time, it appears even though I have again uninstalled AVG and disconnected the computer from the internet. It works fine in Safe Mode.
I purchased a new laptop, and have been having numerous issues with windows 7, including the wireless internet being insanely slow. I've tried other wireless adapters to no avail, and every other computer in the house, be it wireless, or not runs perfectly, with the speed tests all running about the same, while this laptop runs at about 1/4 of the speed. I can only assume it's some sort windows settings, and not anything to do with the ISP or the router because of such.To add, and I don't know if this will be of any use, but while doing regular browsing, the speeds are fine, you can't really notice a slowdown. But when viewing videos or downloads, it tanks. I've noticed my download speeds start out, and stay at their max speed (about 1.1MBps) for say 5 seconds, only to sink to about 250-300KBps for the remainder.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had only used it for a day and then the next day it wouldn't even turn on. I have tried everything that I can think of to fix it. From unplugging it and plugging it back in, changing out the power cord with a different one, trying to plug it into a different location in the house, turning the surge protector on and off, etc. I opened the side up and everything seemed to be in place and nothing was obviously unplugged. We do have a warranty but when we called we got put on hold for an hour + and gave up. We will probably call them again Monday I just wondered if there was something else that I should try before calling it quits and switching the computer out completely.

And after a few second, maybe 2 to 3 or 4, it turn off itself again. When i press the power button myself, there is no more power. I cant turn it on.So, i do the same thing again. This time I switch off the main switch and turn it back on and the same thing happen again, the computer turn on and off again, and i also cannot switch on the computer after that.The same thing happen the next few time, so i assume there is something wrong with the hardware, or something loose
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday when I got home I could not get my headset working on my PC. It's a USB headset (Tritton AX720) but it works perfectly on my Xbox 360. There is sound coming from the headset but it is really quiet. My speakers to my computer work fine, it's just when I plug the headset in I'm not getting sound. I was working on it for about an hour last night and I can't figure out what is wrong with it. So far I've tried to make it my default audio device, I did a system restore to a few days ago, and messed with the setting a little bit. This headset has worked on my PC for about 6-8 months up until yesterday. By the way my audio for my computer is still working perfectly. It is only when I plug my headset in that it isn't working properly. I'm completely lost on what is wrong.

When I start normally gets to the multi-colored flag (windows loading screen) and sits there for about 30 seconds to a minute than it either restarts or goes to a black screen and than it has yellow letters surrounded by a small blue rectangle saying "Out of range" I don't know what to do, but what I do know is that I can boot my computer into safe mode which I'm in right now (safe mode with networking)

I have been unable to turn off my computer for the last 2 days as it has been asking me to save changes to the "global template Normal.dot" whenever I try to turn it off. After I close out that window, it gives me a "normal.dot was being edited by another Word session" error.
