After Rebooting Computer No Sound Everything Looks Fine In Drivers?

Dec 3, 2012

So on Friday installed a new video card (7850) and this morning I had opened up the case as I have been experiencing some freezing with the new card (reason why I replaced the old card) however I have never had sound issues.I did the following prior to leaving today:Rebooted system a few times, had removed video card a few times, inserted monitor cable into the motherboard, booted that up, disabled the vga adapter, then rebooted and turned it on again (figured it might help with the freezing) I also pressed the reset button that is ON this motherboard (Asus P8z68-V Pro)So in any event long story short, When I came home today i didnt hear sound. I have tried just about everything, the Windows 7 seems to reflect sound is "fine" all the drivers are fine, I see the volume going up, I know the right speaker is "default" nothing is muted. I remove the speakers plug them into the other computer and they work fine. Also the head phones don't work in any slot either (i have several jacks on the computer for headphones)I am thinking during the reboot I have fried something on the MB preventing me from using the analog cables for sound. Should I try the HDMI on the video card to avoid having to replace the MB if this was the case? Windows 7 does not tell me anything is wrong with any hardware.I even updated the drivers for sound etc but remember this is a sudden issue, thats why I dont think its a "setting" problem.

Windows 7 Starts Fine Unless Restarting / Rebooting?

Dec 12, 2011

I've recently installed a copy of Win7 on a build. The oddest thing has occurred ever since the installation. From a cold start the PC boots up perfectly and Windows runs smoothly. But if you try to restart or the system does a reboot, the system never comes back..

It just turns black, no bios screen, nothing. I've tried installing and reinstalling the video card driver, but I can't think of anything else.

No Sound At All - All Drivers Updated / Speakers Fine

Apr 3, 2012

A few days ago, after a restart of my PC, I didn't get any sound at all, and still don't get it. All my drivers are updated, realtek, motherboard drivers, graphic driver... I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling realtek driver and software. Windows media player is playing a song. In the "sound" menu (top left), the speakers (defined for realtek hd audio) are also working, the green bars go up and down.

In the device manager (down left) I have realtek driver, updated. and all nvidia drivers (as it always been, and also i checked another pc and has it too). Realtek manager works fine, recognize when I plug into the front or the rear jack (using the green one at the rear), everything seems ok. but (!) the "volume" menu (down right) doesn't have a green bar that goes up and down, and - I don't hear any sound at all...
tried connecting speakers to iphone - the speakers are fine, works well.

Installs Fine, Runs Fine, Reboots..not Fine

May 20, 2009

so i finally decided to install Windows 7 x86 - everything went well - put all the standard stuff on there etc - i rebooted many times because of installations and updates

on my last reboot it just got stock in the bios screen (verifying dmi pool data..success! etc)

so i rebooted, same thing, took the disc out, same thing - turned off boot devices same thing

tried to use window's useless repair tools (whatever happened to repair install?) which didn't help - so i decided to format and reinstall - then it says it was unable to do that (partition error or something)

the annoying this is...is that this EXACT..i mean EXACT same thing happened when i installed vista sp1 from scratch - this happened - and to fix it i had to leave my pc open overnight with the hard drive cables all unplugged..in the morning with my fingers crossed i tried the installation again - and it worked.

my d: always disappears (single hard disk sata 233gig (250)) - sometimes it'll vanish from my computer and stuff - but this can't be the problem because the d: is a single drive on its own - my c: is a25gig partition from my e: - so it's completely unrelated.

does it matter how i replug the sata cables (2 of them) into the mother board? - they're both being recognised anyway

this is really annoying though - mostly because there isn't really an explanation - and because this random stuff always happens to my pc! - is it my hard drive because that's the only thing that would half- make sense

Computer Is Rebooting Itself Over And Over?

Aug 18, 2012

So I was on the internet when my computer close out of everything, and just shuts down. I my head I was saying, oh is it rebooting, android sdk unpacked fast(its a program that lets me play games and apps on windows). So as the computer restarted it went to a black screen with a blinking course And after 10-15seconds it restarts, just to starts the whole process over again. So I used my phone to get on the internet to check how to fix it, saying "oh man what is wrong, a virus maybe?" I seen some threads on different site with answers saying to to reboot in safemode using f8 and ... so and so. So I did it. nothing happened. So i held it, nothing. ( it just doesn't work) so now im stuck. With a rebooting computer. what to do now? I also heard a bout a error r something. It just reboots it there is a error, I don't know.

I have forced shut down my laptop a lot of times, bit this the first time this ever happened.

Computer Is Constantly Rebooting?

Jun 11, 2011

I have a dell optiplex 360 that is running windows 7. I added a video card geforce 7950 gt, at the time when I added this the computer was running fine for months. Then I upgraded the power supply to a raidmax rx730ss because the video card needed the 6 pin power supply that the old psu didn't have. After I installed the new PSU the computer would start running the post (dell logo screen) finish the load bar, go to a black screen then reboot and start running post again. the computer does this indefinitely as far as I can tell.I installed the old power supply and it did the exact same thing.

MSE Virus Keeps Rebooting Computer

Aug 15, 2012

I recently downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials and now I think I have some sort of virus. Within minutes of logging onto my computer, a message keeps popping up that there is a critical error and that the computer will restart within one minute. I have tried to do anything I possibly can to get rid of this issue! It does the same thing while booting up in safemode as well. I also tried to restore my computer to a previous date before this occurred, and it still keeps happening. I figured i'd try to restore it to factory settings also, but it does not give me the option while booting up (f11), or on my control panel. I also tried using the TDSSkiller but my computer reboots before the scanning/fixing finishes.

i had some dodgy memory, but running memtest (which i needed too do to RMA) really buggered up my system, as i was getting instant BSOD just trying to get into memtest. Anyway manged it and duff memory sent off, i insert my working memory and get loads of windows errors and issues. Cut my losses and format and start a fresh. New Build...So everything is installed and working, however i seem to get some input lag and stutter when windows loads, but apart from that it seemed ok for the entire day. When i tried to play Battlefield3 i would get in to the game between 1 and 5mins my gcard fans go mental and the pc shuts down.temps are fine, but wondering if i have somehow borked my gcard or mobo using the dodgy memory? At a loss knowing what is at fault.all hardware has been working fine for about 8 weeks before i added the new duff memory. memtest says current memory is fine and i was able to stress test using prime for 45mins (all overclocks removed)

Lockup / Hang When Computer Is Vertical, Fine When Horizontal

Jan 30, 2012

I'm running a homemade rig, which worked fine on my 42" TV as a "HTPC/Gamer." Moved it from its spot in the entertainment center to my desk and BAM! Locks up or hangs during gaming. Zero activity, temps on my Strike-X drop to ambient, no Ctrl+Alt+Deletes, power button press resets, or power button hold resets. Only option is to flip the power switch on the PSU. Now, here's the kicker, when I lay the case horizontally, it works without a hitch.

ASUS M4A79T Deluxe
AMD Phenom II X4 955BE
G.Skill Ripjaw Series 8GB (4x2GB) @ 1600
XFX Radeon 5970HD
Liteon DVD Burner
LG Blu-Ray Burner
Aerocool Strike-X Fan/Temp Controller
6x120mm fans, 4 on the Strike-X, other 2 straight to mobo headers (fans are not LED or anything fancy)
Rosewill 600W PSU
All stuffed in a Cooler Master Centurion 590.

Now, I've ran a compliment of stress tests with the PC laying flat, no problems or spikes or anything. Furmark, Prime95, Unigine Heaven DX11, even CustomPC (a UK magazines') benchmarking suite for hours, no problems.

I've already updated BIOS for the Mobo and Video. Up to date drivers all around (as of 1/28/2012).

BSOD When Windows Boots Up - Computer Fine In Safe Mode

Oct 12, 2012

It started out of nowhere last week - computer restarted itself twice, then BSOD. When starting Windows normally, it would appear as soon as I logged in. However, computer ran fine in Safe Mode and also ran fine under normal conditions if the internet was unplugged. I eventually diagnosed that the issue was caused by an AVG module when it connected to the internet. So, I uninstalled AVG and verified that the computer ran fine while connected to the internet. I then reinstalled AVG, thinking I had solved the problem.

Now the BSOD appears as soon as I log into Windows (same as last time). Except this time, it appears even though I have again uninstalled AVG and disconnected the computer from the internet. It works fine in Safe Mode.

New Laptops Wireless Inexplicably Slow, Every-other Computer Runs Fine?

Sep 13, 2012

I purchased a new laptop, and have been having numerous issues with windows 7, including the wireless internet being insanely slow. I've tried other wireless adapters to no avail, and every other computer in the house, be it wireless, or not runs perfectly, with the speed tests all running about the same, while this laptop runs at about 1/4 of the speed. I can only assume it's some sort windows settings, and not anything to do with the ISP or the router because of such.To add, and I don't know if this will be of any use, but while doing regular browsing, the speeds are fine, you can't really notice a slowdown. But when viewing videos or downloads, it tanks. I've noticed my download speeds start out, and stay at their max speed (about 1.1MBps) for say 5 seconds, only to sink to about 250-300KBps for the remainder.
