Configure Laptop's Lid Angle To Turn Off The Monitor, Viable?

I just bought a new laptop; ASUS N55SF-S1070V, and I have to completely close the lid to turn off the monitor. My former one turns its monitor off when I close the lid for, say 45deg, and I The built-in hotkey to turn off the monitor first appeared to work, but when I looked closely, it just turn off the backlight or something. I can still see the screen's content!I'm now using some apps to force turn off the monitor, but it's a bit inconvenient.I've been wondering: is there a way to configure the angle in which the monitor will turn off automatically? I've read a post elsewhere saying there's a built-in hardware based switch that detects this action, and it can't be configured otherwise. Is this true?

I had to change the batteries on my Logitech wifi keyboard. In doing so I rested the keyboard face down on the desk.Immediately the picture on my monitor moved 25 degrees to the right. The top of the picture is now on the right and the bottom on the left. The whole picture is sideways.how I can change the picture back to its original?

I have a Dell laptop on a docking station running Windows 7. Everyday I place it on the docking station and use my 20 inch monitor. Is it possible to activate the dual monitor feature and use the 20 inch as the primary and use the open laptop as the secondary monitor?

I recently purchased a Lenovo and figured that I should obviously get the Windows updates for it. I went to download the updates and all went well, that was until it tried to configure them with my computer. Everytime I turn on my computer now, I have to wait for it to try to configure updates. It gets to 15% completed, and then it suddenly says that the updates failed to configure, so the computer restarts, and then I have to wait for it to start up AGAIN. I've tried this at least 8-9 times and get the same result.

On my wife's new lap-top I installed a windows update. One of two. One failed, one installed. I clicked restart now and the computer started to shut down. The screen then showed "preparing to configure windows. Do not turn off your computer". After two hours I assumed there was something wrong so I tried to turn off but it wouldn't, even if I unplugged it,so I removed the battery. Now when I switch on and try to boot-up I see the same message and cannot get any further.

I am a Mac owner of two Macs. I use my 1.8GHz Powermac G5 for web development, video editing and graphic design. I use my iBook G4 for surfing internet in coffee shops and for showing my work to clients once it's uploaded to a web server. My iBook G4 is not really usable for any serious work as I use Adobe CS4 Design Premium Suite for all my work and CS4 version demands at least a G5 processor or better.I want to upgrade to Adobe CS5 Design Premium, but I can't because CS5 version doesn't support PPC platform any longer. What should I do? My Powermac G5 is not worth much anymore and the brand new or even refurbished Mac Pro desktop tower is too expensive for me. I am exploring the possibility of switching to PC and having a local PC shop build a decent custom Windows 7 Professional 64-bit based machine for me, for around $800.Is switching to PC a viable option or should I get a used Mac Pro? I want stability and reliability above all and I don't want crashes or viruses. Is this possible with a PC? I really need some objective analysis and opinions.

I am a college student and looking forward to building a gaming desktop over the summer but have not been able to figure out if this is possible:
My school offers free windows 7 professional and ultimate to all of its students through download (awesome right?) but it brings me to a snag.I am currently on a macbook (my only computer) and was wondering if it was in any way possible to download the files to an external hard drive and install from that?From what i have looked though this is possible, but every place i have seen has the annoying detail of having to be running a previous version of windows in order to do this...
As much as possible i would like to avoid having to get the full disks just because i do not get nearly the same discount.

my Laptop monitor can't turn off even i had change the power plan setting "when to turn of the LCD" and also download software to turn of my Laptop screen manually, the screen just turn off and it on again. I have tried many way and this problem never occur when i am using Windows Vista Home Premium.

A week ago a friend gave me a generic tower with: [code] Power supply says made in 2002, so I'll have to guess the computer was made around that time and has windows XP installed.When I got it, it would not turn on (power connections to all drives were disconnected), now she turns on (all drives, fans (2) and mouse light up) but it won't turn on the monitor (monitor works on my other tower). I hear a few beeps when powered up (three I believe), could the graphics card be bad or do you think it's something else. Just want to use it to surf the net maybe burn cd/dvd's unless what's in there is useless, then I'll gut it out and use it for something else. but for now I would like to see it turn on the monitor and show the set up screen.

i have a acer aspire running windows 7 with 500gb hdd and 4 gigs of ram on board graphics card. The computer turns on everything initiates like normal but the monitor wont turn on, im not getting any signal. There are no beep codes etc, also ive tried removing the little lithium battery to reset the bios and still nothing. Ive tried using a different monitor and its saying no signal. I have another computer which is having the same problem its a acer something 1 gig of ram 250 hdd and a readeon graphics card...cant remember the exact name. With this computer i was attempting to add more ram to the extra ram slots and the computer booted up and worked but i only had 2.50 gigs of ram rather than 5? So i turned it off and repositioned theram.which now i wished i hadnt, i now get no signal from either of the computers.

i have problem with my laptop screen can't turn off automatically even how i change the setting or even download program to turn it off manually, the screen just turn off and on again, i have found that this problem is due to my graphic driver, i downloaded the latest driver correctly from nvidia site and can't install because of the driver can't found my graphic card which is the problem that face by alot of people, and with some days of searching,
i hav successfully installed the latest driver but without the control panel and all other software in the driver package, till now even with latest driver yet my screeen still cant auto turn off automatically by changing the power plan or other method. Anyone have anyway to solve this problem ?
My Laptop model is NEV Versa P9110, Graphic Card is 8400M GS, using Ver186.81 driver from Nvidia and without any feature from the driver package and also control panel, my installation is follow the explain of torrenttg which update driver by browsing the .inf file.

I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my MSI PR200 (MS-1221). Intel (R) 965 Express Chipset Family . Current Latest Bios Version 1.5 It works perfectly.However, I want to program my screen to shut down after 2 minutes (either plugged to AC or battery mode). But it does not work. I've installed the drivers available online, at the MSI web site. Yet, the problem is not gone.

my monitor won't turn on after it turns off automactially (I set this to 5 minutes in windows). I've disabled sleep mode and all that jazz. I suspect it might be an ssd problem because when it won't turn on there is minimal activity with the hard disc LED light.I've also disabled sleep, hybrid sleep and the page file thingie. I've been having this problem for a long time now and have found various, unreliable solutions each time. The basic problem is that my computer will turn on, the fans will turn on, the mouse and keyboard turn on, the CD drive turns on, the disk access light blinks, and everything seems to be working fine, but the monitor won't turn on. I'm using dual LG monitors, connected to one of my two NVIDIA 8600 GT graphics cards which are SLI'd together.I have about a 1 in 100 chance of the monitor actually turning on (which is to say that out of about 100 tries just turning on and off the computer, the monitor will turn on). In the event that the monitor does turn on, I get the "windows did not start up correctly" error, at which point I try to run startup repair, with varying degrees of success.
About 1 in every 5 times, a system restore back to before I installed the updates on my computer will work. For the other 4 times, system restore will either fail, or when restarting the computer, the monitor again fails to turn on. However, when this does work, the updates which I had installed end up not installed, and the next time I shut down my computer, I have to repeat the same process again.I've also confirmed that it must have something to do with the system updates. If I force shut-down my computer without installing updates, I have no problems turning it back on. I'll get the start-up message that windows did not shut down correctly, and I'll be asked if I want to start in safe mode, etc. However, picking "start windows normally" works just fine. Additionally, if instead of shutting down the computer I hibernate the computer, it also starts up just fine. The problem only arises when I click "shut down" and updates are installed. Any other form of shutting down or stand-by works just fine.

I assume something is polling the web or keeping my monitors alive but I can't figure it out.nothing has changed in my setup other than a possible windows update but in the last few weeks my screensaver stays on 24/7.I played with it today and got it to shut off but i set the screen off time at 2 minutes, just 1 minute after the screen saver.I am using ultramon on a dual monitor setup. and for a screensaver I am using gPhotoShow. (allows separate/distinct slideshows for each monitor) as I have been for several years.my assumption is something is now polling the net or doing some activity that is preventing the monitor from sleeping. So I'm wondering if there is a logging program that I can use to track this down. i did hijack this but that isn't helping (as far as I can tell)

My Monitor won't at all turn on, I have no clue to what it is, or how it happened, it was working perfectly fine about 11 hours ago from when I was last on it. I try turn on the button on the screen and it won't turn on, the computer itself is fine, it turns on smoothly, and you can hear the start-up process in the computer but the screen is black, (won't turn on).

When I set the power management to turn off the monitor after x minutes, the monitor is off for 1 second and it turned on automatically. I am using msi ex600 laptop.
I have tried the following:
* Unplugged the mouse
* Exit from all application's running
* Disable the network card
My bios and graphic card are updated. The hibernate option is working fine. Is there a way to find what turns on the monitor?

Why does my screen sometimes goes blank after a period of inactivity ( like 8 hours )? And sometimes not!. My monitor screen just turns off ( yellow light ). Then i just turn my mouse and screen goes back to normal. ITS TOTALLY RANDOM!
I disabled the screen saver and I disabled the option of the OS turning off the screen. Yet, the screen will still turn itself off after a period of inactivity. I'm currently using a Asus Monitor 19'

so the Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit install is fresh, and all the drivers are the latest available. I have updated my mobo's bios to the latest version through Asus' "AI Suite II" which makes things very simple. I want my PC to be able to go into sleep mode but I don't want to have to force shutdown every time it goes into sleep mode after a time span. For some reason if I wake my PC after its been in sleep mode for a short period everything turns back on just fine... I know there might be a solution through the configuration panel

Earlier today my dad turned on our computer to a blue screen. It told him to restart the computer if he had never seen it before, and he did. However, we cannot get it to start back up. When we press the power button, the fan runs (harder than usual), but the monitor stays asleep.

my monitor exhibited signs of flickering during start-up, but only minor ones and would just stop at the 'Welcome' screen of windows so I didn't give it much thought. Iv'e been using it with the cpu the same time I bought the monitor.But after some time, the flickering got worse. It went from 1-2 second interval flickers to a whole 10 seconds of blackness before it showed anything.Now,Iv'e got a new cpu but still using the old monitor. After a day or so, the monitor exhibited the first symptoms of my first cpu, so I just dismissed it. But after a week, It got a hell worse, before I even start-up my computer, the monitor doesn't show Analog/Digital at the top-left corner of the screen. PLUS my cpu keeps restarting after I pushed the ON button after 10 seconds or so. Is the monitor responsible for the restart and what could be the reason for the flickering?

I just upgraded (via Customer Install) my Vista laptop to 64-bit Windows 7 HP.
Under Vista, I was able to set Power Options so that the computer would go to sleep/hibernate when I close the lid. That works in Windows 7.
However, I was also able to set the Power Options so that the laptop would wake up and restore Windows when I opened the lid. So far, I have been unable to set that behavior in Windows 7.
