Monitor Screen Turned Red - Normal Again After Restart
Sep 15, 2012
My monitor is an HP S2031. The computer is a Compac Presario CQ5814 PC, Processor is an AMD Dual Core Processor E-350. Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit. Bought in 2011. Running Chrome Browser most of the time. Shockwave crashes on me quite often but seems to "fix" itself. This had happened shortly before the monitor turned red. I had turned off the computer and when it was turned back on the screen was red. I restarted it a couple of times and it finally returned to normal.
I am using Windows 7. I use external monitor connected to my notebook. When ever i connect the laptop to external monitor through VGA cable, It gives display on external monitor but not full screen. I have to reboot everytime to get full screen display which is annoying a lot.
Well i thought that turning off the option for auto restart when a system failure occurs would be a good idea so i could see a blue screen of death so i could determine the problem with my computer but it did nothing. My computer still restarts whenever.
i just received my sony vaio yesterday installed with windows 7 pro and was charging the laptop and transferring music from my external hard drive. during this time i fell asleep and then woke up with the power to my house out. my laptop started to go through recovery mode and then ran out of battery life. today i charged and turned it on and all it said was bootmgr missing ctrl alt del to restart
how do I restart my laptop pc windows 7 in normal mode now that it is stuck in safe mode? Putting this in the top of page did nothing Start > MSConfig > Boot > Uncheck Safe Boot > Restart.

(My first PCIExpress card - be gentle ;-) Here's what I've been doing
for what seems like the best part of two days -
1 Boot in safe mode, disable 8500. Reboot. 2 Drivesweeper'd nVidia display drivers in safe mode. Reboot. 3 Restart in safe mode to verify drivers gone, but 7 just goes ahead
and renistalls 195.62 anyway (A moderator on the nVidia boards says
that these latest drivers should NOT be installed in safe mode.) & asks
for a reboot.
4 Reboot as instructed, then screen blanks after entering password;
pretty much what I've gotten from day 1.
> Now, just today I tried something I saw somewhere here (?) where
A I reboot the PC (after 1,2,3 above) with my monitor OFF B Enter my password 'blind' C I finally get to a proper desktop which appears to be using the
correct drivers (Refresh rate looks much better) but I can't verify
graphics card changes, as this causes a blank screen again.
Monitor is the only device plugged into the GF card.
i have problem with my laptop. it always restart when i on it in the normal windows. but if i on in safe mode, the restart will not happen...
if i on it in normal windows, it can be stand only 2 or 3 minutes. one thing that i notice that in my problem is when i turn on my laptop in normal windows and i not use it like i open my browser or open folder, it will not be restart and we will look it like no problem.
but if i start use it like open browser or open folder, my laptop will restart. for your information, my laptop has a little heat but not very strong.

I have two monitors on my system (win 7) and from time to time the main monitor gets turned down in brightness. The other monitor is just find but something ( a virus, malware or program) is turning the brightness down for no reason. I have run malware and virus protection and found nothing.. Sometime is will be in the middle of a session and other times it will be on boot. It's not the monitor I'm sure (turning it on and off does not work) and it's always the same monitor that is effected.

When I switch on the computer, on the monitor, I just see the start window and green dots running, then the monitor screen went black and say 'no signal', I can't even switch off the computer unless holding the switch button for a while.
i recently reinstalled win 7, and I have a 7600GT, Pentium D 950 @ 3.5GHZ, 4GIGs of RAM, and a normal HDD, (my motherboard is just a generic Acer mobo that I found in a garage sale). Im having this problem where windows is detecting my monitor as widescreen, and is only showing widescreen resolutions like 1024 x 728. My monitors max res is 1280 x 1024. Which is what im used to. Currently, everything looks like crap. Ive tried new and old drivers for the GPU, and windows update is on. I even tried to force the res, it just wont force it though, it cuts off every part of it expect the top left corner.
Its my own configured desktop with 2GB RAM, core2duo processor, 2TB HDD . Earlier I used to get BSOD error but it has been stopped now.. but started giving new error. Monitor turns black showing no signal msg on display, PC get restarted 2-3 times and then only get started. After staring it'll show message that, "Windows has been recovered from an unexpected shutdown" and shows problem details as
Problem signature: Problem Event Name:BlueScreen OS Version:6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID:16393
I have a three monitor set up. Whenever I open up a browser, either internet explorer or google chrome on monitors 2 and 3, after a few seconds it automatically drags my browser into my main monitor(monitor 1, where my start button and status bar is located)
I was attempting to edit authui.dll, when I restarted my computer I got a totally black screen. Now everyone seems to have a hard time understanding this. When I start my computer up I get a black screen, no matter if it's a normal started up or in safe mode. I'm totally unable to login or do anything, the screen turns black before anything comes up.
I have made sure that the power settings in control panel have been set to "never" under advanced settings. About 4 months ago, windows decided to set my monitor shut off time to 20 minutes. The first time it happened, I figured it was a one-off thing, and set the monitor off setting back to "never". Fast forward 4 months, and I have to turn the setting to "never" every time I start my computer. I've even made custom power profiles, and every time I restart, the monitor off setting keeps going back to 20 minutes.
My screen has been turned sideways on laptop and I cannot get it to go back the correct way around my niece was playing her games and cannot remember what she pressed
Since my new comp has been built, about a month ago, every now and then when I power up the computer it fails to display anything on my monitor. I look into the case and see that the red VGA LED is lit up on the motherboard. Whenever this happens, I take my GPU out and reinsert it, close up the case, power up and it works again.

I have been experiencing some freezes with my windows 7 ultimate, basically the mouse and the keyboard freeze and I have to manually shut down the PC, it only happen when I'm at windows or when the screen is automatically turned off, the strange thing is that when I'm gaming it never freeze, actually I played BF3 yesterday around 3 hours with max settings and it didn't happen. I don't know if this is related but I've noticed that firefox is been running slow compared to the past (after I moved to the 280.26 driver and now to the 285.62) and there was a java application opened when the freezes occurred (jdownloader). The hardware is all brand new except by the D hd drive (windows is installed in the other one) which had some kind of problem, here are my specs:
Windows 7 64 bit ultimate Gigabyte 990fxa ud3 AMF Phenom ii 955 (amd cool and quiet disabled) Gskill ripjaws 2 x 4 gbs 1600 Mhz Hitachi Sata 1TB x1 Hitachi Sata 500 gb x1 Gigabyte gtx 460 1gb EVGA gtx 460 1gb (sli) Thermaltake TR 2 RX 750w.
My toshiba satellite l655 was being updated then turned off i turned it back on but the screen is just black i tried shining a light to see if i could see the picture but there was no picture then i tried to hook up the hdmi to a tv to see if i can try to use it on a tv to see the screen and nothing pops up.
i recently got an update from microsoft on win 7, and immediately after it had finished updating i had no sound in any application (aim, skype, chrome, firefox, Internet, etc.). this has happened before, and i ran microsoft's sound problems wizard and it always said that an option had been clicked off and that it had restored it.this time when i ran the wizard it says it detects no problems. i am sure it is the software, as it happens a lot with ms updates. will downloadi can't go back to a previous configuration, i don't have one to go to
I have just attached another screen to my Vaio.i used the Dual monitor setup windows 7 offers change the appearance of your displays.I chose the "extended these displays" my problem happened after applying the new settings my laptop screen went up side down while my new monitor went blue screen.how can i get my laptop screen back to normal?
I've got a problem with my laptop - it won't sleep. Specifically, when I try and make it sleep, the screen turns off and I cannot interact with it at all - but the computer just keeps going. All the activity lights stay on, and while I can't see or do anything, the computer stays on and will not sleep, leaving me with no choice but to manually force shutdown. Sometimes if I leave it like this for a while, it will simply crash and shut down incorrectly. I have gone into the power-plan settings and checked my advanced settings, but that hasn't worked. It's just come on in the last few days, but I haven't installed anything new in that time. I'm going to try a system restore now, but I don't hold much hope for it.
(I'm using a Samsung R530, 32-bit Windows 7, Intel Pentium.)
Ok windows stucks on welcome, it will not boot so i am doing a startup repait but its stuckIt asked meif i want to do system recovery and i clicked no cancel , (only repair) but the blue bar that moves while its repairing it doesnt move its frozen and it says attempting repairs... nothing moves
I am using Windows 7 Pro on a Dell Inspiron 1520. Today, when I attempted to start the unit, I heard a rapid beeping that was uncontrollable until I clicked the Control Key. There are no error messages. I have done 2 cold boots and a memory diagnostic (which found no errors) with no positive results. It begins right when the screen indicates it is Starting Windows. Once I get past that, it seems to operate normally, but I am concerned there is a root problem that will surface with disastrous results at a later time.
I turned on my PC earlier on today and there was a white bars/lines on the screen throughout the bootup process. I'm unable to boot into windows as it hangs and goes into black screen after loading past the windows logo, however I'm able to boot into safe mode but still having the screen filled with white lines. I've tried system restore to no avail. I'm thinking its either the graphics card or the monitor.
