Monitor,Keyboard And Mouse Not Waking From Sleep?
Feb 8, 2013
Over the past week, my monitor, keyboard, and mouse become unresponsive after waking from sleep. I haven't installed any new software in the past couple weeks and all my drivers are current. It doesn't happen every time, its random. About 3-4 times in the past week I come home and hit the keyboard to wake it up, the computer wakes up, but the monitor, keyboard, and mouse never come on. I've tried unplugging both the keyboard and mouse and it still won't work. I have to hard reset the comp for them to come back on. Unfortunately, since its random, I can't duplicate it, I just have to try some things out and wait to see if it happens anymore.

Whenever my laptop is in a sleep state and I accidently press any key on the keyboard, it automatically wakes the computer and I dont want this to happen. I simply just want the power button to wake the laptopI have tried disabling every item within the device manager that has the option, 'Allow this device to wake the computer' but still it is happening.

I'm not blindly posting the issue. I have done research and followed other threads in order to troubleshoot the problem but to no avail.I built my computer back in January of this year. Not up until a few days ago did I start having this issue. I can't think of any major changes I made in order to cause this. I can use my Logitech Mouse and Keyboard the wake the computer up from the sleep mode... but once it's up, neither of them are responding.Things I checked for: Latest update on the USB drivers, Logitech Software update (including the PS/2 Driver) Windows update. I checked if the option is checked ON for 'Allow this device to wake up the computer' (and it is on). When other things are plugged in the same USB port, they work just fine after sleep mode, e.g. my drawin

I have a laptop that is now running Win7 32 Home Premium(I upgraded from Win xp). I am using an external keyboard and mouse, as I am using it as a HTPC hooked up to a TV and want the laptop display closed and laptop tucked away. I have all the power options in Win7 set to put it to sleep, but there is no option I can find to have it wake up from sleep other than the power button on the laptop which is not accessible if lid is closed.
Some have said you need to go to the mouse/keyboard driver itself(HID Device) in device manager, and there should be a power management tab on the driver/device options, but my usb options do not have this tab. I also went to the Bios to configure power options and there are not options to configure power states(such as S3 S5 etc). I can get the laptop to go to sleep with the sleep button on a usb keyboard, but once it is asleep, it will not wake up from any command from the mouse/keyboard. I believe its because the USB ports are not being powered while in sleep mode, so it will not see a wake command - As I said before my USB port options do not have any power management settings. I also plugged in an MCE remote which has a sleep button, and same thing- it puts it to sleep, but will not wake it up. My goal is to just use an MCE remote for all commands -as I am running Windows Media Center.

I have read many threads on this, but I cant seem to get my laptop to wake using the wireless kboard/mouse. I have a HP pavilion dv4 with windows 7 x32, and a logitech LX710 Kboard/mouse. I am beginning to think that I will not be able to wake on this laptopAllow this device to turn on computer is greyed out in device manager. I have accessed the bios, but did not see anything that looked like it pertained to this issue. I am far from a computer expert

I have a really strange problem, after a while (1-2 minutes) Windows just seems to freeze, the monitor signal dies and so does the keyboard and mouse. This seems to be pretty much random and does not occur at a specific time. Safe mode works well without the problem. This problem occurs both during the installation and on the installed OS. I managed to install Windows using safe mode (multiple times). I have been running XP and Linux on the same machine for a long time without any problems.
I have tried to install it multiple (allot) times, using different CDs and USB memory, same result. Even different isos. The iso I'm using is from MSDNAA and it's CRC checked. I have removed all "extra" hardware, disabled BIOS integrated hardware and usb stuff. No luck. I only have 1 monitor connected so it's not a multiple monitor problem, even tried booth DVI connectors. Have installed all the latest updates and tried different nvidia drivers.

When I put my computer in Sleep mode, using the start button / shutdow / sleep it "sleeps" for about 10 minutes and wakes up on its own! Could it be programs trying to run in the background that wakse it up; Carbonite Backup or Norton? I can't get the computer to remain in sleep mode!

I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I just recently decided to start trying to put my PC to sleep rather than just let it run constantly when I'm not using it, and found that when I resume it, even if it's IMMEDIATELY after putting it to sleep, there is no sound. The only "fix" I've found is to either reboot, or (the quicker method) is to disable and enable the sound card in device manager. Sound then immediately returns.Obviously this is far from ideal and I'd love for it to just function properly. Any ideas? My sound is onboard Realtek HD audio on a Biostar A770E3 motherboard.

I've tried removing AVG using their removal tools and instructions. I've tried fully removing my video and mobo drivers with driver sweeper and installing the latest GPU and Motherboard drivers and flashed the latest Motherboard BIOS. I've scoured forum after forum and seen similar issues and tried countless solutions. I haven't seen someone with my -exact- problem and -exact- spec/error reports so I'm caving lol. I build and maintain PC's as a hobby and I like to solve problems on my own know-how but I am at wits end with this BSOD.
Quick specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
8 gigs DDR3 Gskil
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Denab
Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 (x2 SLI)
Asus M4N75TD nForce 740a Malwarebytes Antimalware

We have about 500 laptops with win 7 pro x64. We have had a few complaints that on occation, after a computer wakes up from sleep mode, the user sees the welcome screen, but no text or logon box - i.e. they can't se any text or textboxes, only the background image of the welcome screen. The only way to end this state is to poweroff/reset the machine.

I have just built a PC in the aim of using it as a Home Theather. I have a Media Center remote control and TV card, when I use the remote to put the computer to sleep it seems to work fine However when I use the remote to wake the PC, I get a reboot and unexpected shutdown message. This is also the case when I use the Start -> Shut down options -> sleep or hibernate. I have tried using microsoft debugger and the message I have been seeing is that, AverBas.sys does not have a timestamp and that its symbols can not be loaded. I got this far on my own but I have no idea what to do from here! I have attached the required zip file.

BSOD on an Acer Aspire 5750. It is pretty much brand new, but I have been trouble shooting this for about 3 weeks and have just now learned about the dmp files but am not yet good at reading them.
BlueScreenView seems to point to some kernel exe that is at the very core of Windows 7, but from what I have read it is most surely a driver as it only happens when waking up from sleep.

When attempting to wake up my wife's PC from sleep, the computer will hang for a few seconds at a black screen and then reboot. This is followed by the standard Windows has not shut down properly message asking if I want to launch into safe mode. This has been happening the past few weeks. It's Windows 7 64-bit. I've attached the results of the SF Diagnostic tool.
Stuff I've tried:
- Turning off hybrid sleep
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek USB WiFi adapter (network adapter problems came up on some google searches)
- Toggling USB suspend in power settings

I have a homebuilt system that I have had for a little over a year now. I am currently having an issue when waking my computer from sleep. When I wake the computer, I can see the machine turn on and start up (LED fans light up) but the monitor stays black. It stays like that and my only option is to do a hard reset.
After resetting the computer, it says its resuming windows and lets me login, but it runs very slow for a while. On my next restart, the computer "checks the disk for consistency", and then after that everything is normal again.
This doesn't happen every time I put it to sleep, but it has been happening a lot lately. I had this issue last year, but it just stopped, and i can't remember if I had done anything to fix it. I did not have this problem again until sometime last week. The only thing I did last week was I installed the new drivers for my video card and uninstalled/reinstalled MSI afterburner.

Recently I built a computer for my friend. After running it through some typical diagnostics, I concluded that it was fine. Two days later he called me and told me that the PSU was making weird noises. That's when his first BSOD happened. It was pretty obvious that the PSU was done, and he RMA'd it back. When the new one came back it was working fine, but after a few days he called me again and said that it was BSOD'ing a lot. I checked it out and it seemed to happen a few minutes after waking up from sleep mode. It happened every time. At first I thought it could have been a hard drive problem so he RMA'd that. When the new one came back it was the same story.

I don't know if it's Microsoft's bad OS or this crumby Korean computer - but it sucks to be back with Windows after a decade of Macintosh! This computer randomly fails to wake up. The mouse icon moves, but my screens are all black. I can control-alt-delete to raise the task manager screen. But then clicking does NOTHING.Windows is a **** OS. I hate it. It's always pissed me off since Bill Gates "created" it. Click click click - are you sure you want to click? Why don't you click some more? click click click. Would you like to click again? Are you sure you'd like to click again? And how about all those REALLY helpful popup windows. So thoughtful and caring.Oh yeah, windows. That's why. Such vision.Bill Gates has NO TASTE! I wish Steve Jobs was still alive!here are so many stupid bugs in this system. It reminds me of Millennium Edition. DOes anyone remember that BS? If I didn't need this shite for work I'd burn it. Or enjoy hacking it to bits with an axe.Can anyone help me sort this out? Or am I doomed to continually click stupidly until my tendons freeze up with carpal tunnel and my eyes fall out from staring at the ugly designs everywhere?Lastly, there's an infuriating naming bug - sometimes Windows 7, so intelligently designed, believes a file is open when it is not. Windows won't let you change the name of a file or folder if it believes a file in that folder is open. Brilliant. So, guess what? Yeah, I can't change the effing file name and have to shut down the computer. Since I work in a firm with a high volume of files changing names frequently, I can't tell you how much this pisses me off.Somebody get Windows to hire someone with creative vision who understands how to streamline operations! Someone teach Bill Gates how to paint a picture! In the meantime, I'm going to work on convincing my entire office to move to Mac.
