I just installed Windows 7 over my VISTA OS on my new Toshiba Notebook. Since I have only 3 GB of RAM I installed the 32 Bit Version of Windows 7...
VERY DISAPPOINTED immediately as I encountered 2 issues
1. McAfee Security Center is alerting me that software is Not Compatible....
2. Internet Explorer barely runs... and when I exit IE, there is no less than 30 second delay before the window closes... even if I have just opened IE and immediately close (meaning nothing has cached to be cleared)..
I Windows 7 Home Premium. My windows is getting the updates but when it says configuring windows it doesn't do it and says it failure to config and is reverting back.I also cannot turn on Windows Security Center.I appears something happened 8/15. I tried microsoft's fixes and system restore which hasn't fixed the problems.[CODE]
I started the Windows 7 upgrade and ran into a snag. When it was doing the compatibility check, I got the following message and could not procede any further.

I don't even have McAfee on this computer anymore. I originally ran the McAfee removal tool. I also checked the remove programs and I could not find any reference to McAfee anywhere. I also searched the entire computer and found nothing. What gives?
I ran Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and followed all of the instructions to make sure my computer was ready for the upgrade. Now the installation won't run because it says I still need to delete Trend Micro Antivirus and Google Toolbar, both of which I have already deleted. I have searched my computer and deleted anything and everything that had Google or Trend Micro on it. It still won't finish. When I deleted everything, I used Control Panel> Uninstall Programs.
My computer is an HP Pavillion Media Center m8100n TV PC, Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, 3072MB System Memory, 500GB Hard drive, 3.0 GB RAM, and an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ 2.80 GHz.
Is there anywhere else I need to look for these files, or do you have any general suggestions on the upgrade?
I found a cheap card and my question is if it would play decently windows media center in my desktop pc, so I can turn it into something like a dvr. The card is a nvidia geforce 6200 512 mb
I got a virus (winupgro.exe). Afterwards, that program showed up in my task manager, but I was unable to end the process. I also got a notification that I would need to restart my computer in order to turn off UAC. Since I did not want to turn off UAC, I went back in, and turned the UAC back on. I then ran a virus scan with Norton. It didnt seem to find my virus, so I just shut down the computer.Winupgro.exe no longer shows up in task manager, but I cannot turn on Windows Security Center - getting the dialog box "The Windows Security Center service can't be started".Malwarebytes was able to find and remove it, but I still cannot open windows security center (after a restart).I used FreeCommander to run create md5 checksums. After searching the output file, I did not find any references to winupgro or its checksum string.
im running windows 7 64bit. i cant get it started. its not under services. or in the control panel. i did a full anti virus scan. and a malware scan. PC is clean. i went in the action center. and tried to turn it on but i get this popup
friend had one of the 2011 viri variants that i removed with rkill/malwarebytes BUT afterwards he kept getting a security center warning that automatic updates was turned off:if i try to turn it on i get an error saying it cant be done [URL]...
Windows Security Center will not start, regardless of whether I'm in my regular account, or admin. I have tried fixing it based off some info I "researched" on-line, but it claims that my user account isn't the same as others using the same process....All of the others I have looked at in Services all say "Network Service", just like I tried setting the WSC to.
will I loss some functionality if I disable this service? I'm using 3rd party firewall and MSE as AV so I don't care too much about builtin firewall and DAP. I need however to connect another computer at home via ethernet cable. If I turn this off, stops something to work?
after i managed to remove a virus on my computer (system defender) i get this message to turn on the windows security center service, but when i try to do that i get the message "the windows security center service can't be started".. the security center properties is on automatic... but the message is still on.. i tried to do a system restore but it doesn't give me an option date before the virus attack. i have windows 7 home edition..
I did a normal registry scan and there were some errors and I clicked to fix them. Now Action Center doesn't show in the task bar...So I search for it and click on it and it tells me that Windows Security Center service is turned off...I click on the button to turn it on and it tell me that it cannot start...I've been searching online for a solution to my problem and I have seen other posts about people having a similar problem...Going to services doesn't work for me...I'm assuming that since Winutilities removes random HKEYs, that might be my problem...Now, how do i get these HKEYS back?
Yesterday I noticed the red flag stating that the Windows Security Services Center was off. When I tried ti turn it on I got an error message saying that it can't be started. I searched some posts that said to access the services.msc file but when I tried that I get another message saying that "One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either..
I downloaded Superantispyware.com on my netbook with Windows 7 starter. The security center notes that windows defender real time is turned off which is correct. There is a button to scan for other antivirus programs. However, windows 7 will not recognize my antivirus software. How do I correct this?
I get a red flag from the little ACTION CENTER icon at bottom once a week saying that my anti-virus, firewall, anti spyware is off. But my Norton 360 isn't off, just the ACTION CENTER on the Control Center SECURITY SETTINGS shows OFF.I have to turn my 360 off and on to reset it.Never happened before.
Recently I got a Antivirus Antispyware virus on my computer, I ran Rkill and then Malwarebytes and it found the virus and I removed it. However now my Windows 7 Security Center firewall and my McAfee firewall will not turn on. With my Windows 7 Security center, when I try and turn it on it prompts me with a message that says 'Action center cannot turn firewall on, turn windows firewall on manually' so I click on that and I click the recommended settings and it gives me a message saying 'Windows firewall can't change some of your settings. Error code 0x80070422'. My McAfee fire wall will turn on for a second and then automatically turn off. I have tried many things and seeked for many solutions but so far none of them have worked.
A flag is appearing in the bottom right corner on my laptop running windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version. On opening the action center by clicking on flag the message appears "Windows Security Center Service (Important) - The windows Security Center service is turned off" Next to this message is a button "Turn on now". When I click on the button gets an error message "windows security service can't be started". no details. checked my laptop for any virus, torjan, malware etc. using 3 different tools: McAfee, Windows malicious software removal tool, Malwarebytes No virus or suspecious programs try to start the security services manually using services.
I am running Win 7 on a Dell Inspiron 1525, and have noticed recently that the Security Center Service is not running, when I click the button to turn it on, I get a 'Cannot be started' message.

I can't get get my Security Center, OR my firewall to work correctly. When I attempt to turn my firewall on, it just quits responding. When I go into my services.msc to see if any of them are there.
The security centre service and the Windows Firewall are always on disabled status after each boot. The start-up type is Automatic for both of them but it won't stick after a boot has been placed.

When I click "Turn on Now" button I get an error box "The Windows Security Center service can't be started." I am running McAfee & Malwarebytes. How to turn on security center service for windows7 on my laptop I have tried running all the possible anti virus but still my problem is not getting fixed,
Why does the Windows 7 compatibility center list this program as compatible with Windows 7 when it CLEARLY does not work with Windows 7 without serious effort? Then, Microsoft doesn't even post workarounds for how to make it work with Windows 7! I know this game is really really old but it is a Microsoft game so they should put some effort into keeping it alive, particularly since it is better than AOE III.I have successfully installed AOEII: Age of Kings and the expansion (conqueror's) and updated to patch 1.0C or whatever it is called. When I go to run conqueror's the splash screen comes up saying that it is loading, I hear the CD spin, and then 3-4 seconds later the CD spins down and the splash screen just hangs there for eternity. The game never runs. I've tried running in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode and as an administrator.
