Windows 7 Security Center - Specified Service Does Not Exist As Installed
Apr 20, 2011
I was trying to remove some malware "Win 7 Home Security 2011 - Unregistered Version" and I noticed that I cannot turn on Windows Security Center Service. When I click "Turn on Now" button I get an error box "The Windows Security Center service can't be started." I am running McAfee & Malwarebytes. When I execute "sc qc wscsvc" from the command prompt I get "The specified service does not exist as an installed service" .OpenService Failed 1060. Can I reinstall Windows Security Center?
I booted up my Win 7 (32 bit) PC this morning and noticed that it was not connecting to my wireless network. I went to check the network settings in device manager and I got the message "The specified service does not exist as an installed service". I can see the file devmgmt.msc in the C:WindowsSystem32 folder, but when I run it from there I get the same message "The specified service does not exist as an installed service". I am also seeing this same message when I insert my Windows 7 CD and try and re-run the setup. Even if I try to run anything as an administrator, I get this message "The specified service does not exist as an installed service". Is this some sort of Malware? Is there any way of recovering from this?
after i managed to remove a virus on my computer (system defender) i get this message to turn on the windows security center service, but when i try to do that i get the message "the windows security center service can't be started".. the security center properties is on automatic... but the message is still on.. i tried to do a system restore but it doesn't give me an option date before the virus attack. i have windows 7 home edition..
Yesterday I noticed the red flag stating that the Windows Security Services Center was off. When I tried ti turn it on I got an error message saying that it can't be started. I searched some posts that said to access the services.msc file but when I tried that I get another message saying that "One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either..
A flag is appearing in the bottom right corner on my laptop running windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version. On opening the action center by clicking on flag the message appears "Windows Security Center Service (Important) - The windows Security Center service is turned off" Next to this message is a button "Turn on now". When I click on the button gets an error message "windows security service can't be started". no details. checked my laptop for any virus, torjan, malware etc. using 3 different tools: McAfee, Windows malicious software removal tool, Malwarebytes No virus or suspecious programs try to start the security services manually using services.
I am running Win 7 on a Dell Inspiron 1525, and have noticed recently that the Security Center Service is not running, when I click the button to turn it on, I get a 'Cannot be started' message.
my windows security center will not work properly.then i followed the following steps. when i am open the service.msc then it shows your current security systems prohibit running active x control in this page or you have blocked a publisher of one of the controls. it causes my windows gadjet does not work properly and i can't restore my system to an earlier point.
How to turn on security center service for windows7 on my laptop I have tried running all the possible anti virus but still my problem is not getting fixed,
I Windows 7 Home Premium. My windows is getting the updates but when it says configuring windows it doesn't do it and says it failure to config and is reverting back.I also cannot turn on Windows Security Center.I appears something happened 8/15. I tried microsoft's fixes and system restore which hasn't fixed the problems.[CODE]
I just built my computer 2 days ago. It runs, but I am having trouble installing Windows 7.
1. When I successfully make a partition and start installing, the "Expanding files" section stays at 2% before eventually reading an error saying Windows cannot be installed because the files do not exist.
2. After 2 tries, a new problem arose: Windows can't get past the "Starting Windows" screen. However, when I detach the single internal hard drive, it can. I don't know what the boot combo in Bios is that will fix this or if its something else.

Last week I hit an issue whereby I was unable to access the Internet wirelessly even though my laptop could see the router and had a good signal. I tried connecting up via an ethernet cable to no avail.
The issue seems to have started right after a Windows Update but I can't be 100% certain. If I do ipconfig /all I can see that DHCP is not enabled. I know the router is fine because my vista laptop can access wirelessly via the router fine. I tried doing some things I seen in the forum such as ipconfig /renew etc. but it said it couldn't contact the RPC server. I followed this up and was recommended to check the DHCP client service was started. It isn't even there. I was wondering if the update could have removed it.
Someone else who had reported the same issue on this forum was asked to do a system restore. I did this and the service is still not there. I am assuming that the non-existence of the DHCP client is the cause of my issues accessing the Internet.
I have a bit of a problem on my hands. I'm using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, and every time I try and compile and run the code that I wrote, MVS complains about not being able to write over the .exe file. This has been documented before, and there are fixes, but everything I've tried simply doesn't work. The primary fix is enabling the "Application Experience" service, but the problem is that for some reason that service isn't even listed among the others. I've tried to use that "regsvcr32" thing with the corresponding .dll, but that doesn't work either (it just keeps throwing these error messages in my face)
I have network sharing issues and I believe the problem is that I cannot turn on file/printer sharing. When I click the button under advance sharing settings for file/printer and hit save (as an admin) it just goes back to off. Under Services, the Server option which is on automatic does not start. When I try to start it, it says:Windows could not start the Server service on Local Computer. Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion.
When I try to install java because my browser says it's not installed it says it IS installed. So it asks me if I want to reinstall that's fine too. Then it gives me an error message saying that you can only do that if it's already installed.I can't find folders of it it's not in the add/remove programs list either.
I'm currently trying to find a solution to a situation with my PC. I am able to install programs (ex: Skype, etc), but when I reboot my machine or turn it off and back again, the program I just installed does not appear on my hard drive at all. Any files I save (Word Document, Excel, favorites from Internet Explorer) doesn't appear or retain when I reboot my machine. I suspected a virus attack so I ran a virus scan with AVG but it doesn't find any viruses or errors.
I got a virus (winupgro.exe). Afterwards, that program showed up in my task manager, but I was unable to end the process. I also got a notification that I would need to restart my computer in order to turn off UAC. Since I did not want to turn off UAC, I went back in, and turned the UAC back on. I then ran a virus scan with Norton. It didnt seem to find my virus, so I just shut down the computer.Winupgro.exe no longer shows up in task manager, but I cannot turn on Windows Security Center - getting the dialog box "The Windows Security Center service can't be started".Malwarebytes was able to find and remove it, but I still cannot open windows security center (after a restart).I used FreeCommander to run create md5 checksums. After searching the output file, I did not find any references to winupgro or its checksum string.
im running windows 7 64bit. i cant get it started. its not under services. or in the control panel. i did a full anti virus scan. and a malware scan. PC is clean. i went in the action center. and tried to turn it on but i get this popup
friend had one of the 2011 viri variants that i removed with rkill/malwarebytes BUT afterwards he kept getting a security center warning that automatic updates was turned off:if i try to turn it on i get an error saying it cant be done [URL]...
Windows Security Center will not start, regardless of whether I'm in my regular account, or admin. I have tried fixing it based off some info I "researched" on-line, but it claims that my user account isn't the same as others using the same process....All of the others I have looked at in Services all say "Network Service", just like I tried setting the WSC to.
I did a normal registry scan and there were some errors and I clicked to fix them. Now Action Center doesn't show in the task bar...So I search for it and click on it and it tells me that Windows Security Center service is turned off...I click on the button to turn it on and it tell me that it cannot start...I've been searching online for a solution to my problem and I have seen other posts about people having a similar problem...Going to services doesn't work for me...I'm assuming that since Winutilities removes random HKEYs, that might be my problem...Now, how do i get these HKEYS back?
Recently I got a Antivirus Antispyware virus on my computer, I ran Rkill and then Malwarebytes and it found the virus and I removed it. However now my Windows 7 Security Center firewall and my McAfee firewall will not turn on. With my Windows 7 Security center, when I try and turn it on it prompts me with a message that says 'Action center cannot turn firewall on, turn windows firewall on manually' so I click on that and I click the recommended settings and it gives me a message saying 'Windows firewall can't change some of your settings. Error code 0x80070422'. My McAfee fire wall will turn on for a second and then automatically turn off. I have tried many things and seeked for many solutions but so far none of them have worked.
I can't get get my Security Center, OR my firewall to work correctly. When I attempt to turn my firewall on, it just quits responding. When I go into my services.msc to see if any of them are there.
I am trying to get my XBox 360 to find my PC, or get my Windows Media Center PC to find my 360 as an extender.
For some reason every time Media Center searches(put in the 8 digit code on the PC) I get:
"Media Center Extender Setup failed as the Extender was detected on the network but the UPnP search for the Extender failed (timed out after 20000ms)."
in the event log.
It shuts off my "Media Player Extender" service(stops it and changes it to "disabled"), and unchecks the Windows Firewall box allowing Media Center Extenders through my home network.
I've tried disabling my router's firewall (Linksys WRT54GS) and Windows Firewall, then restarting the Media Center Service and still get the same message and results.
I've enabled uPnP, and disabled "filter multicast". I've tried messing with the Xbox's IP settings, but that wouldn't cause my PC to shut off the services.
I've done just about everything I can find on the internet to fix it and nothing has worked so far, have only seen a couple of threads talking about the service shutting off by itself.
I'm about to the point where I'm going to re-install Windows 7, but I haven't had it for very long at all so I doubt a "fresh" copy will make any difference. Read more at the forums...
