Maintaining Format Of Certain Folders Windows
Oct 12, 2012
I know that opening a folder displays the content in the format of the last window I opened. Most of the time, this is fine. But there are certain windows that I would like to maintain a specific view. For example: Showing List, or displaying all Medium Icons, and set to a specific size.

I'm having a problem maintaining an Internet connection. My Internet co told me they were not seeing my linksys router and advised me to call linksys support for configuration. Linksys would not help me because the router is no longer under warranty. However, it appears to be working fine. All lights are on. When I lose the connection , if I disable and then enable my wireless network connection it immediately reconnects. It may hold for a minute or for several hours but eventually I have to repeat that action. I haven't changed the configuration of the router.

1. Two Windows 7 computers.
2. Each computer has a user account with the same name, but different passwords.
3. This is necessary because other users can log on remotely to one machine with this user account, but should be locked out of the other.
4. A local user who has access to both accounts tries to access a mapped drive on one machine. The user names are the same, but the passwords are different. Windows gives an error; the local user enters the credentials correctly (same username, but remote machine password) and says "Remember these credentials."
5. Credentials are remembered throughout the duration of the computer session.
6. When the computer is rebooted, the computer forgets the credentials for the mapped drive, and Step 4 starts all over again.
How can the local user save the remote credentials permanently? And is it possible without using Group Policy Preferences, as he is not on a domain?

If I use a commercial software like Drive Scrubber to clean my HD, will a Win 7 Upgrade Discboot ? I want to eliminate any possible virus/malware. Is there any advantage to using commercial software to format, or is the reinstall format listed in the tutorials as effective? My concern is that Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 (KIS) had corrupted data bases and after removal and reinstallation did not perform well. I could not download anything, e.g. CCleaner and received Certificate Error questions on certain websites. Also, I would like a fresh registry to insure previous programs like Chrome, Firefox, KIS, remnants are eliminated.

I have a few questions and one of them is, what is the difference between an unconditional format and a diskpart's Clean All in the command prompt. When I read their definitions online I don't know what they differ in.

I am giving Fedora (Ext4) the boot from my 150G VelociRaptor and replacing it with Windows 7.What is the difference between a 'Quick' format and a 'Full' format. Does a quick format simply rewrite the FAT and a full format write 0's to the sectors? The reason I ask, is that I am concerned that the Linux Ext4 formatting may leave artifacts which I can do without. So, bite the bullet and go the long route, have lunch and a nap or take the quick way out?

I have just done a clean install of Win 7 Pro 64. I have set up four accounts and for each one I have moved the user folders to a separate hard drive by using the Right Click Properties > Location > Move. I have done this for the following folders:
- Desktop
- Downloads
- My Documents
- Favorites
- Links
- My Music
- My Pictures
- Videos
I have done it exactly the same way on each account (and more than once! I've been imaging the disk and have restored backwards a few times.)
The problem is, on three of the accounts, when I move the My Music, My Pictures, and Videos then they do move correctly but three rogue folders appear named Music, Pictures and Videos. And I can't delete then since they are system folders.
But the weird thing is that this does not happen on one of the accounts!
how to get rid of the extra folders as they're cluttering up the users home folder and causing confusion.

In Windows 7 how can I change "Folders View" for individual folders without changing them system wide. For example if I select "always show icons" all my folders are set this way, and that's fine. But there are a few folders I have containing jpeg images, and I want to view those as "thumbnails" without effecting the others which are set to always show icons.
This was very easy to do in Windows XP but I can't figure out how to do it in Windows 7.

I've got a 1gb Pendrive, used to work.. but it spewed up 'Corrupt files' errors, and then finally gave up completely. It won't open, and asks to format it, I've tried every option it gives me but it won't format.. Supposedly, it's got 0 bytes of space, but on Disk management, it's 969MB RAW format, but it's a healthy primary partition. Formatting isn't doing anything, so.. It's pretty important! I need the USB to flash my BIOS, which will then unlock my CPU settings (It's a modded BIOS Btw.) so I can Overclock my E6300. So.
