All of a sudden, when I open a previously opened Word document, many of the sentences and paragraphs all get compressed together, in a black mass. A whole paragraph gets jammed into the space of two characters.
So I have 42gb of priceless tv shows that are taking up too much space on my comp... What I want to do is compress these files. The only issue is that in order compress I need the room for the uncompressed AND compressed files. Is there a way I can tell Winrar to delete complete files as it is done rarring them? (Assuming winrar compresses files one at a time) That way if it were to stop suddenly like in a power outage or something the files wouldn't get deleted unless there were fully compressed... So yea I need to compress files but don't have the room to compress them...
I normally use Word 2003 for documents, although I use Outlook 2010. This morning I opened a Word 2010 document and after quite a while of some sort of an installation, I was able to open the Word 2010 document. I did not think too much of it, except that later I was sending an e-mail and attached a Word 2003 document and when I went to check it (i.e. open it up) it opened in Word 2010. How do I disable Word 2010 as my default program to open Word documents. I do not want to uninstall the program, but at this point I am not ready to learn how to use Word 2010.
Have been using WORD 2007.But, I just downloaded and installed Open Office. But I only want to use it for its Spreadsheet. However, it looks like its word processing component has taken over. Now, my WORD documents are being opened by Open Office which I do not want. How can I make WORD the Default word processing program (again)?
I am from Sri Lanka, and hence I use Sinhala and Tamil fonts from time to time. I have discovered that certain fonts appear fully on the Fonts Panel in the CP. However, other do not (that is, those others appear faded on the CP Fonts panel). WHen I change my font type to a Sinhala font that appeared fully on the panel, it types well on MS Word. But when I try to type in a Sinhala font that appear faded in the CP Fonts Panel, it types in English. how this can be, and what steps I can use to remedy it? to prevent it?
Looking for a nice little (and free) download to convert Microsoft Word Works documents into a PDF format. Right now I have a deskPDF download installed. It works when I select my printer. It then converts and saves the document into a PDF format. However, I get a "Your Free Trial Has Expired!" pop up prior to saving. My options are Activate (which I can't), Continue (which I do) and Buy Now (which I don't). My question is, how long can I continue bypassing this free trial expiration? I'm surprised I'm still allowed to convert to PDF for this long.
Anyway, I checked Programs and it appears I installed the deskPDF 2.5 Professional Edition back in June of 2011, so it's already been six months. Funny thing though, is I distinctly remember where I got the download from and that was at CNET Downloads. So that's what they give away? A trial edition for a paid upgraded version? I guess I don't mind the Buy Now pop up and if it lasts indefinitely, all the better. But aren't there other, more permanent alternatives that aren't trial editions of premium versions?
When I was using Word 2007 under XP I never had a problem with it not opening, or closing while in use. Now that I am using WIndow7 64-bit, I regularly have the problem that:
A. If I try to open Word directly, I often get a message that "There is a problem with Word. Windows is searching for a solution." (Paraphrased.) Invariably the result is that Word shuts down. The only recourse I have found is to restart the computer. Happens several times a day.
B. Sometimes even while working with a document, I get the same message and result. The error occurs more often if I have a document open and then try to open another one.
I don't recall the same problem with Excel 2007, and have only used Power Point 2007 once (no problem at that time). Is there a way to "repair" word 2007? Must I reinstall it? HP Pavilion p6247, Athlon CPU, 2.3 GHz, Windows 7 64-bit; Microsoft Office 2007 Pro.
Anyone know how to make dot leaders in Word? I can do it so long as I use spaces instead of the tab to indent T of C entries, but that's inaccurate and inconvenient. When I use the tab indent, the dots pop over to the left of the entry instead of between the entry and page number. Same thing happens in Word 03. Yes, I can use Word's T of C feature, but can't make it do what I want. MS stuff is impossible, and I have spent hours with their so-called "help" feature and online searching for an answer. Everything is so easy in WP, and I read one post to enter the info there, and copy/paste to Word, but it did not work for me -- the dot leaders all disappeared.
I got done after writing this document for three weeks...Suddenly (today), my document appears to be blank. I didn't download anything..Didn't go on any porn sites (surprisingly), or anything. In fact I didn't go on anything after I finally finished my document, which was finished yesterday.[URL]When I highlight the document, it appears to be words there, it's just nothing shows up. It's as if all my text is white. However, the text is clearly black.
When I want to copy a text from a web page into Word , it will not copy the FULL page. From left to righ,t it will cut off about 10-15% of the document on the right side of the page.. I tried moving the arrows on the top of the page and it doesn't seem to help.
Currently Word Pad is set as my default. When items are opened in word pad it is like jibberish. I would like to make microsoft word my default, but word pad is not listed on my programs to uninstall I have Windows 7
My fiance uses a word document to store all of her user accounts and passwords for them. I finally had her put a password on her word document file. BUT, I know this is easy to crack and want to know the most secure way to keep her accounts and passwords safe from snooping nerds like me, Does any have a very secure way to encrypt a word file? OR any other software to use to add the accounts in to encrypt?
On a new HP computer with Windows7, I installed Microsoft Office. Everything installed correctly, including the icons. When I did a windows update shortly after, the WORD icon disappeared and was raplaced by the one you see on my attached picture. I cannot change it in the properties area. How can I get the regular icon back?
I don't understand, okay yesterday I went to download fonts from dafont.com and 1001freefonts.com and I then I downloaded them and it asks me to download to default (Word Pad, windows explorer) and I don't know how to open/save it under the right app; which I have no clue what to do to fix this. but I thought things you download is suppose to be set up automatically.
I send in cricket match reports to our local paper. Last season I had an XP machine and I used to copy and paste the scoresheets from our website into Word. Here's a typical scoresheetI used to copy the scoresheet and paste it into Word, edit it and send it off as part of the report. The newspaper could also copy and paste it at their end. Fine. Now I have a Win 7 machine and, I may be incorrectly blaming this on the OS, I can copy the scoresheet into Word but I get an uneditable block, looking only vaguely like the scoresheet I copied.I imagine that there is just some "tick" I haven't put in a box somewhere but it would make a massive difference if I could find that box.
I have been unable to turn off my computer for the last 2 days as it has been asking me to save changes to the "global template Normal.dot" whenever I try to turn it off. After I close out that window, it gives me a "normal.dot was being edited by another Word session" error.
using windows 7 home premium 64bit with office xp, while typing a letter, halfway through I noticed that caps lock was on but the caps lock light indicator was not, whether I have the caps lock button pressed or not I just write in capital letters and as this is a business letter I don't want that so I must have pressed some button
I'm currently running Windows 7 Home Premium and whenever I try to click on a setup exe file, it would open in ms word. I've searched this forum and tried the MS Fix it patch but it didn't work. I can't even upgrade registry optimizer since it opens in word.
Ok, I don't know why this happens....I have word documents saved on my computer on a few back up drives. I recently went to go into them and they are now .cts files.
I found that if I download and run Crazy Talk software, I can access them, well, from what I read on the internet. I am trying it out now.
I have Windows 7 64bit. I use google chrome as my browser. I just got Office 2010 and downloaded it off Microsoft's website. Now when I download and try to open a word document from my professor it does this, Windows is not responding, windows is checking for solutions, and then shut down. I then haft to open it in safe mode enable editing and then I can work with it.I tried changing the trust center options and it saves my changes to the trust center when I open word from my computer, but when I open it from a website it does not save it.
I opened a word 2010 document from an email in windows live mail desktop version and made some lengthy changes. Now I cannot find the document on my windows 7 system anywhere.
I have 2 identical windows 7 pc's that I just setup. They are both running windows 7 pro x64. I installed office 2000 small business with sp1. One one machine word and excel will launch just fine. On the other machine, excel will launch but word hangs.I tried starting word in compatibility mode and as an administrator. That didn't work. I lauched it from the run command using the /a and it would start. I looked and there are no startup macros that run
I am trying to add a public digital signature in word but am unable to do so. when I try to protect the document and go into 'protect document' --- 'add a digital signature' and selct change to change the signature it only displays my local signature (myemail@company.com) I would like to use a different signature like a public or trusted signature.
Using Windows 7 Home Premium. I have some MS Word 97-2003 .doc files that I cannot Delete, Move, nor Rename. I get this message: The action can't be completed because the file is open in Microsoft Word
If I edit them and do Save As... I cannot delete the new file either. It only hapens on some of my old files - not all.
I have a ASUS EeePC netbook (windows 7) and I cannot print my documents in wordpad. The printer goes through the motions of printing but the paper comes out blank. The printer and cartridges are brand new and it will print emails and anything off the internet okay, but not wordpad docs.
