When I am using Windows Explorer, recently I've noticed that MPG files are showing inaccurate length of time and resolution.As an example, I have a 1 hour MPG [720 * 480 resolution] and Windows Explorer says the length is 173 hours, 37 minutes and 16 seconds! If I go into the Details tab from the Properties of the file, it claims the bit rate is 40kbps.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was using my desktop like normal then an error came up saying that there was a hdd failure, and that i needed to scan for errors. all my files disappeared and only this error would come up. There would be hundreds of the same msg spamed on my screen. I scaned my hdd for errors using my Bios/Advanced options and no errors came up. I decided to take out the hdd and put it into my External Hdd bay to hook up to my laptop to extract the data off it.When i hooked it up to my laptop it showed up empty. I went into folder options and clicked on show hidden files and folders. Everything came up but it was grey/transparent. I then copied the files to another hdd for backup.
Then i formatted the hdd and put on a fresh new OS. Id like to mention i have a second internal drive that i use for backups but it wasnt backed up recently when this issue happen so i had to take out the main drive and use it as an external to back up onto another external drive.so then when i click on my second internal drive after the reinstall of the new OS it shows empty i have to go in and show hidden files and folders.. now they show again transparent. also i plug in my external to get the recent back up and all those files are still transparent when i move them to my desktop that is freshly OS installed they are still grey/transparent and i have to keep the show hidden files and folders to view them.. so its all my music, pics, documents etc they are all greyed out..i tried to copy my backup IE favs into my new IE browser and they wont show up because they are hiden it shows it copied to the favs folder but in ie i cannot view them if that makes any sense.
ever since I got a new Graphics Card I've been experiencing newer and newer problems. Whenever I boot up, it shows a blue HP sign (normal) but then when it gets to the "Starting Windows" screen, I can't see it. My monitor says "Change Resolution to 1280x1024" on a tiny white board. Same with Windows Error Recovery, I had to restart my PC a few times when I got a blackout during Sandy due to me accidently choosing Safe Mode. It hasn't been such a nuisance until now and I will get a new monitor soon, I just want to know if I can cure this before I get it. The monitor is HPvs17c (17 inch LCD), running Windows 7
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter setting up a new install of Windows 7 Professional 64bit on a Samsung laptop (previously had home premium installed). I am having these issues that I am not sure of how to resolve:
1) when clicking on the start button the programs screen pops open but NO recent programs or pinned programs show up in the list without going to ALL Programs.
2) Laptop monitor and 20" LCD Desktop monitor both are running and the neither one will go above 1366 x 768 resolution setting. I have reinstall the latest Nvidia Gforce drivers with no change.
A little problem regarding hooking an Asus EEE netbook up to a Haier HDTV/monitor via VGA. Last night, I hooked it up and all went well. My control panel showed me a wide range of resolutions that allowed me to view my entire screen and use the monitor without any problem.oday, I turned the computer back on, and upon switching over to the monitor, my control panel only shows the recommended resolution, which is nowhere near high enough for the monitor. Everything is huge and I can't see most of the screen.I've already tried the following:-Restarting both monitor and computer-Unplugging and plugging back in the VGA cable-Looked at the "show all modes" under advanced options in the display settings. The appropriate resolution was not there, either.

I assume either my ISP/router is the issue or something else strange is going on. I tried changing my DNS server to the google ones as well as adding a server to my hosts file but it still returns the same error. Just curious what exactly the message means if it really is DNS related as hard-coding the IP into the internet time requester returns the same error.
When I reboot my computer the screen resolution changes from 1366x768 to 640x480.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know I should just go to manufacter site and check or just let windows update get them.Well here is what driver max show me,just now went through a scan.I tried to add the html code,but it will not show correctly.I select the # symbol for html code wrap.pasted the code between code wraps.And all it shows is broken links.Still have the page incase anyone can help.But,maybe this is readable.He sitating weither I should do anything.What is making me want to try is sometimes I do get a hang on logoff and shutdown,not everytime but often.I have avast and advanced system care pro that run on startup,no other extra programs. Both installed correctly and I did a sucessfull restart after installing each one.

All his folders, file and shortcuts show as LNK file in Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I tried scanning his PC with avast!, MalwareBytes, Hitman Pro 3.5 and SAS, but the result was the same. How did it come up? My friend was chatting with his uncle in Skype, he asked him to download 3 pictures, the pictures where names as LNK file, my friend opened the file and after that all his programs, files and shortcut was defaulted to (file name).LNK. He wasted $35 to renew his windows, and he doesn't wants to format either. So is there any way to revert to normal state rather than formatting or system restoring?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been downloading many Videos and I watch them on WMP (I'm running Windows 7 64Bit) and I have variety of files. But for some reason files like .Mp4 would show thumbnails/an image of the video while my MKV files just show an Icon. I have installed K-Lite codec pack 5.2.0 (64Bit) to enable my WMP to watch several files. Also I have try installing the Divx preview thing (Forgot what's it called) and it does make the Mkv show the thumbnail but it lags incredibly when I play it. Is there any alternate way to make my MKV videos show thumbnails?

View 0 Replies View RelatedI backed up all of my data files over to a CD/ROM before restoring my Windows 7 PC due to a hard drive failure.
After successfully restoring the Windows 7 PC, I also restored my backed up files from the CD/ROM using HP RecoveryMgr, which was included as part of the backup process. Then I see all folders show "This folder is empty", even though the folder "Properties" show that the folder is not empty and contains files being backed up during the restore.
How can I make the files in the restored folders visible/accessible again?
Is there any way to make the details of a FLV file, especially resolution and runtime, show up in the details view of Windows explorer? I have the Shark007 codec pack, and can see thumbnails just fine, but no information about the FLV files, other than their file size, shows up in the details view, or the file properties.I need to clean out some of my older saved videos, rather than buy a new hard drive, and I would like to start by getting rid of the low res and short runtime stuff.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just noticed today that my video and music files in explorer no longer show the album art or the video instead of the standard Icon when viewing large icons in folders. I think it is because I recently installed and uninstalled winamp. (thats the only thing I can think of) I cant do system restore because I had it disabled. I've tried reseting the search index, reseting folder options, going under performance and checking the settings there, nothing has changed. I really dont want to have to wipe and reinstall...
Here is a picture if you dont get what Im saying, as you can see in the folders it still displays the album art of the files but the actual mp3 files dont show it. The album art works fine in WMP.
