I am running Windows Ultimate 32 bit. I have 2 SATA Hard Drives (one with OS), 2 SATA DVD and Blu-Ray Drives and 1 IDE Hard Drive which is configured as a slave.Second - I needed to do some hard drive trouble shooting for another computer that had a (possibly) dead IDE Hard Drive. To do this I shut down my computer, and attached the (supposedly) dead IDE Hard Drive in its place. Now - all the trouble began. After booting into the Bios, I noticed the supposedly dead hard drive did not register even though it was spinning. I kept booting into the OS to see if it would be recognized in any case - it was not.I put my working IDE Hard Drive back in - after shutting down and removing the dead IDE Hard Drive.I booted back into the BIOS and noticed my good IDE Hard Drive wasn't being recognized either. I then went into advanced Bios settings and walla - it saw my hard drive but said I needed to reboot. After rebooting I noticed the same thing with the Bios, but this time proceeded to boot into the OS.After signing on, I noticed my Good Hard Drive was no longer recognized in Explorer. I went into Administrator and Computer Management and then into Disk Management.

My 5130M HP laptop needs a re installation and I cant find the OS recovery disk. The OS is Windows 7 professional 32bit. Is it legal to download an ISO and use it? If yes, where can I download one with the latest service pack?
I'm currently in India and cannot get the disk shipped here for obvious reasons. HP India does not have the recovery disks and suggested I contact HP USA. HP USA said that they cannot ship to India.
I know how to burn an iso and install the OS but the greater issue is how do I validate my windows my key mentioned on the windows coa sticker?
I have a Hp pavilion g6, I've lost my recovery partition and I need to format my computer, when i start it, I have windows 7 on DVD but when I insert it and I click on F11 this message appears :
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer 2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next." 3. Click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. File: BootBCD Status: 0xc0000225 Info: An error occurred when attempting to read the boot configuration data
Last night I was using my samsung series 7 laptop but it was freezing up frequently so I after reading around some forums I decided I needed to format my HHD to solve my problems. After using the cd "system recovery media" I turned on my laptop to find only the trash bin in the desktop. I cant connect to wireless internet and I cant configure cable internet altough the icon still appears. Also my usb drives dont work either.
I am trying to delete the recovery drive and use all the c and recovery drive with windows 7. I do however want the Toshiba extras that come with it, well some of them. I also would like to use the windows experiance ratings.
I just partitioned my C drive and now have an I: drive that I use for data, music and movies and such. My question is this: if I have to do a system recovery. Will I lose that partition? Or will Windows 7 re-install on the C: drive without touching that partition?
I was trying to restore my Toshiba Sattelite L645-S4056 to factory default and reinstall windows 7 by inbuilt recovery system. While i was formatting the computer swtiched off itself. Then i couldnot access inbuilt recovery during booting. The computer wont boot with any windwos cd. It said something like "Cannot boot.Enter a bootable disc". I then installed a linux distero by booting with a USB device. The linux system works fine but i need windows 7. It shows that my hardisk is totally empty. There is no reserved part previously occupied by recovery system.I didn't get a recovery disc with my laptop. Any other dvd wont boot. How can i install back my Windows 7? What is wrong with the system? Is there any way to get windows 7 back?
My 160 GB Win7 drive on my laptop failed (single partition), but thankfully I had a backup that I created on a 750 GB drive using EASUS Partition Master COPY. The backup drive is FULLY BOOTABLE, I've been booting into Windows 7 from an eSata external interface with no issues. It has a partition with my backed up Win7 installation and the rest is just unallocated space.
I have recently installed windows 7 RC on my pc but after installation my D drive has been missing. It has all my final year college projects and other important information which i totally hate to loose.
This is my disk management screenshot where it has not assigned any letter to my missing 20 gb drive and it is taken as system type.
I just recently tried to install Windows 7 ultimate x86 it was fine untill it was finalizing the installation, suddenly it gave me the blue screen. i tried installing it again and it cant find the drive anymore. i tried using dos to make another partition but it cant find any drives or partition. the bios can read the drive. what did i do wrong?
Ive been buisy lately, but now i hav some time to fix a problem. ever since ive reinstalled windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, i havnt been able to see my external HDD in "my computer". ive looked in device manager and its there, and when i first plugged it in, it installed drivers perfectly. but nothing happened after that. Ive tried another HDD and that also dont work, but both are preforming normally on my other pc, so im lost. it seems that flash drives work perfectly on laptop, but not hard drives.

I have my laptop partitioned into 2 drives. One for system and one for everything else.On my system drive i have 60Gb and the D drive is 300ish. I have started to get the "Low resources" message on the C drive. I have looked around everywhere for the 60gb's and it gone. Vanished into thin air.I navigate to C:users and check the properties. it says there is 35gigs being used. Inside there userskcameron - thats me - it says used 34gigs.When i check through all of the libary folders inside i cannot find more then a few megs of stuff. so 34gigs is being used, but i cannot find it.anyone have any ideas, or tools i could use to check this out? Its to the point where i cannot open many things without the system getting angry. I could always re-format, but other then this problem everything else is find.
I just reinstalled and it seems my D drive that has all my data, and i use for my docs. Has lost ownership i guess. First noticed because FF wouldnt download to it, to my downloads folder. Next tried to extract something and it wouldnt work.
I can delete but have to hit continue, on the prompt that says it needs administrator access.
I figure the permissions got messed up somehow, this has never happen before though...
I use a Drobo and I used to have it map on My host PC using letter I: but since it was causing drive letter conflicts I changed the drive letter to Z:. Ever since I did that my Drobo will lose its drive share every time restart. I can share it back out and it retains the individual folder shares I set up. But this was never and issue before. Is there a way to make a drive letter a permanent share or make a startup script to share the drive letter?
It occured when i tried to open internet explorer while google chrome was downloading a file. However, I have always been able to do this when I attempted it previously, so I am not sure what made this time different, but after i clicked on internet explorer, everything i had open got immediately closed, my screen flashed black, and when it was back at my desktop, all my icons were gone aside from Recycling bin, Microsoft Word, and Powerpoint, and like 50 little message windows opened one after the other saying that files may have been lost because of damage done to the C drive. I cannot preform a system restore because it says there are no previous restore points, and all of my files (documents, pictures, downloads, music, programs) are no longer on my computer for some reason? Is this just a problem with my C drive that can be fixed and restored? Or are all of my files gone for good? Also, my PCtools Spy Doctor ran a scan and said: Adware.BHO.GEN (20 Infections) - High Threat.
I was on the permissions for drive C, because I didn't want standard user changing setting on there and when I clicked OK windows came up with an error and then when I tried to go back on to the permission change window it said " access denied" and I Now can't Change it back, I Can't do anything with admin features and I can't system restore.
