Homegroup Password Lost Re-enter New Password And Program States Its The Wrong Password?
Mar 21, 2011I am attempting to setup Homegroup for first time on new computer, I was asked to set a password. The first pw was only 7 letters. It was rejected as requiring 8 letters. Attempted to re-enter new password and program states its the wrong password.When I go to the homegroup page there is no link to see and change password.

Aug 5, 2012It is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit application. June 2012 it crashed. Since I am a teacher, I needed my laptop to recover quickly. The system would not recognize my recovery disks so I had to order disks from HP. The disks arrived but when I began to rebuild the tablet I killed the process at 12 hours because it seemed ridiculously long. ( My prior career I was a system project manager...so I am no strager to computers and software installations.) My quick solution was installing Windows 7 Home premium and then downloading the custom installtions for my HP tablet off the HP site. This was required to finish the school year. July 2012 I began attempting to rebuild my laptop correctly. I found, through HP forums, their installtions take 16 hours before you get to the windows setup screens. In the midst of this process my battery also seems to have completely died.I have tested that it is the battery: AC Power glows steady white when battery is removed and system boots.
Put the battery back in and the light blinks orange the whole time. Battery test shows it cannot recognize a battery. So....when I tried to install the first time with battery still in, 16 hours later HP recovey processed, and Windows setup began. It made it through preparing software installation, installing software, customizing software, and stopped at "Checking AC Power." The second time.....I tried to install I removed the dead battery.This allowed the power led to stop blinking orange and be steady white glow. For this test the system made it through preparing, and installing, but hung at customizing software.Third try now....battery back in hangs again at Checking AC Power. It has been here for 8 hours. The HP site also indicates that the WIFI radio needs to be on for installation. Mine is and glows white.
Any remedies for how to complete the installation, through checking ac power where it is hanging, and then initate and complete the installtion verification would be great! Jun 18, 2011I have forgotten my Administrator password. I have tried a couple of the free password crackers, but no luck. Also tried the command net user, with no luck; I get the "Access Denied" message whenever I try this. I've looked at a lot of the threads here, but they all seem to be just a little bit different. All I have access to is this other user profile, and I can't install anything on it without the Admin password. I have the Windows DVD, and have tried a boot repair, but it tells me that the OS is booting correctly (which it is). Where to from here ? It's wasted a helluva lot of time, and I just seem to be going round in circles. How can I give this profile I am using Admin rights ? Don't seem to be able to do anything without the Admin password.

I had an issue with an outdated driver. When Windows Update had their most up-to-date drivers installed, it installed an older version instead of the latest one.
This cleared up all of my problems and I'm sure it will help you with yours.
Just as a precaution, I'd check to see if you have this folder before updating though (just incase!)

Lost Login Password, Fingerscan Works?
Aug 7, 2011I have a Toshiba laptop with Win 7 Pro. I set up the fingerprint utility early in the setup of the new system, and now I do not have a valid login ID for Window 7. The one I thought was correct doesn't work. So I can login in with my fingerscan, but I cannot login with a password. I would like to be able to login with the password, or to give it to someone who hasn't enrolled fingerprints.
Is there any way for me to remove or change or find a working Win 7 login password?

I used to select my account, and when the "Enter Network Password" box popped up it had the focus, so I would just immediately type in my password. Jul 15, 2012I have a HP Touchsmart 300-1060a (Home Premium Windows 7 64 BIT) which I bought few years back. Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again.At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found.One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn't 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn't came up at all. So then I took my machine to a Computer repair shop (a friend of mine) and we detected it could be due to the regulator which supplies power to the CPU and motherboard.So we replaced that part and now my HP Touchsmart is running fin since then.But I have lost my HP Startup logo with options such as below: [code]

Two laptops / home premium / windows 7.Now when I try to access it I am prompted for a Network user name and password, the same promt giving details of my domain. This is not my homegroup password, I know where and how to find / use it. I have renamed pc's tried setting up homegroup again etc etc. Incidently I cant change the share options on any of my folders now, they are all locked to 'Nobody'.Can anyone help as it appears to have support from Microsoft for their product I'll have to pay pardon my igronance but if I sold a product with constant updates I wont charge for the support.
