Lost Network Trust On 2003 Windows Domain?

Nov 2, 2009

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate on a network w/ 2003 Windows domain. When I first added this computer to the domain, everything worked fine for about a month. Then one morning I came into the office, tried logging in and received a message that the computer has lost it's trust connect with the domain.I logged into the server w/ the DC, reestablished the trust connection from the server side but the comp is still giving me the "Can't establish trust connection" error message when I logged in. My current workaround is unplug the network cable, log into the comp then replug the network cable.

But after we created the individual users like john@domainname.local to all users. this is i believe the cause of problem. When we acess the server via the software it freezed for 5 seconds and then repeat to normal state. And after some time it hangs for 2 minutes.

Changed Domain Lost All Files/Access?

May 3, 2012

you will have to bare with me as my technical knowledge of computers is very limted!Whilst trying to join the local homegroup network, I found out the issue was that my WORK laptop was connected to a domain & unable to share files because of being connected to this EX company domain/network.Naively, without first checking consquences, disconnected from the WORK domain & made the computer use for home & renamed it. Upon doing so, was asked to re-boot.On re-booting, the adminstator login password had resorted back to the one when setup originally?? As my normal password was not being accepted. I must add - I NO LONGER WORK FOR SAID COMPANY AND HAVE NO WAY OF ACCQUIRING PASSWORD/NETWORK/DOMAIN ACCESS DETAILS ANYMORE!I then used the windows password unlocker tool (20 paid) to gain access back to my laptop. Obviously now realising a lot of very important information, emails, all desktop icons & file locations were no longer where they were supposed to be I spent an hour searching everywhere... The hard drive is still saying it has 150gigabyte of use & certain files display more data in 'properties' than is actually displayed in the folder itself. After doing a little research it looks like all my files, emails etc are in this imaginery 'domain' that I am now unable to access at all & no longer have the details to re-join again! A few files are still dotted around where they are supposed to be but a lot no longer accessable. With no access details to re-join this domain, is there any way AT ALL of re-claiming these files? Any 3rd party software, hard drive recovery software? Easiest way,

Changing An XP Network To Windows 7 With SBS 2003

Apr 13, 2012

We have 30 computers all running XP, we are now due to replace them as they are 10 years old. Would I need to update my Server OS from SBS 2003 before installing Windows 7 on the clients ?

I know the proper procedure is to upgrade all tech together, back end through to front end, but would SBS 2003 handle and function at 100% ? If I go for an upgrade on the Server OS I would need to upgrade the server hardware to 64bit.

Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter - Update Lost The Network

Nov 1, 2009

Installed Windows 7 on two home-network computers. Everything appeared to be good, including networking, but I could not access printers (linked through each computer) with the opposite computer. Windows update offered an update for the Broadcom 802.11n network adapter, but when I installed the update I completely lost the network.

I had to revert to the old driver in order to reastablish the network. But the printers still are not recognized. The network adapter on the secondary computer is a Linksys WMP300N. I did try turning the router off for ten seconds with the updated driver but that had no effect.

Anyone had this problem?

Installing Over Corrupted Windows 7 Starter, Can Trust Windows.old To Be Created

Jan 1, 2013

I don't have a hard drive large enough to backup the data on my daughter's netbook with a corrupted W7 starter install. When I attempt to re-install W7 starter, it does tell me that if it detects a previous Windows install, it will move the files over into a Windows.old folder. I'm familiar with the process, but can I really trust that the installation won't just format and install over my previous files? Does it mostly find your old install and move it with little fail rate?Looking at the drive through a liveCD, I can see all my files are indeed still there. Although I will have to delete some files to make room for a new install since I apparently don't have enough room for it. Would it be safe to delete everything in my Programs folder (I don't mind losing this)? Or would that make the Windows installer unable to recognize my previous install?

Can't Get Online; Windows 7 Pro Setup A Public Network & Lost LAN

Apr 9, 2012

I cant get online. Icon in taskbar says I dont have a network connection. Upon exploring, I find that Windows 7 Pro has me setup for a public networkwhich has a yellow exclamation mark on the left side between my PC and the network, and a red X on the right side between the network and the Internet.

DETAILS:Dell desktop PC. Was running Windows 7 Home, now running Windows 7 Pro (full install; not upgrade). I had a malware problem (images on webpages and links, etc. were not visible to me) with W7Home; cleaned it and went to W7Pro. However, now I have this whole new and far worse problem with W7Pro. (See problem above.) NOTE: I am the only person in my house and the only person using the computer. So I never had it set up for a network. I only own the desktop PC and dont need a network. The network that is now set up on my computer was set up by W7Pro by itself as part of the problem. My IP is not static so I cant input my IP manuallyits set to automatically detect. Called cable modem service provider; they made the assumption my operating system came with my PC and told me to call Dell for support. When I explained my OS didnt come with the PC, they then said You need to talk to Microsoft. Uh---no. The cable modem service provider said their server is talking to my PCmy PC is unable to get to them. (Makes sense, as that matches the pictures Im seeing with the exclamation mark and red X.)

Mapped Network Drives Are Lost

Nov 17, 2009

I have a problem with mapped network drives disconnecting.

I run Windows 7 Pro connecting to Win Server 2003. Reboot and the drives are there. After a while a red cross appears against them in Explorer. I can usually see the contents, but running a program that requires those resources fails.

The only way I can reconnect is to reboot, but then the red cross appears again after a while.

I've updated the LAN driver and even tried setting the registry key MaxNonpagedMemoryUsage to 0xFFFFFFFF as recommended in the only comment on the subject I've been able to find.

I'd really appreciate some help here as I don't want to go back to XP!

Lost Wired Network Connection Overnight

Aug 19, 2012

I have two PCs cabled directly to a Netgear WNDR4500 router. This morning, my Windows 7 PC had no network connection when I turned it on. These computers don't get moved, I wasn't messing with the cables beforehand. Everything was fine yesterday. The Troubleshooter suggested I had a broken cable. I tried another cable, but it still would not work. I connected the Windows 7 machine to the same router connection my XP machine uses, but it still did not work.Device Manager reports the Network Adapter is working properly. The system tray network icon reports "Not connected/No connections are available." The Troubleshooter reports, "A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken." I tried disabling/enabling the Local Area Connection, but it still reports "Network cable unplugged." My gut feeling is that the Ethernet jack on the motherboard is physically broken. But it blows my mind that it would break for no reason.Could an automatic update of some sort disabled networking in a way that it only appears the cable is bad? Could the physical connection at the back of the machine spontaneously break? I suppose I could go buy a network card, which would be cheaper than replacing the motherboard. I'm gonna get cleaned up and head to the store now.

Internet Connection Lost, Cannot Find Network.

Nov 25, 2009

My desktop has recently been upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate from XP. I set up a home group at another location, then returned the desktop to my normal connection. The wireless card I used was a D-Link that is XP compatible only, and I found this out after attempting to install, then I checked on it later. I deleted the driver, and tried a Netgear WT111G USB wireless card. Install failed, and I went online to look for a compatible driver.

I downloaded a driver, installed it, and the wireless card was detected, but could not connect to the internet. Uninstalled the driver, and tried plugging into Ethernet, and cannot find my home connection. Can only get into network settings (home, work, public).

Has any one here heard about this problem after creating a homegroup? Trying to troubleshoot, but it's a specific problem I'm not familiar with as of yet.

The faulty drivers are no longer on the PC, but it's still unable to find a direct wired connection.

Unidentified Public Network And Internet Connection Lost

Jul 22, 2011

I had problems with my computer not connecting to the network sometimes after restarting my computer. That was usually fixed by simply unplugging and replugging into my outlet. I have a hard wire connection and my ethernet cable gets plugged into the wall and connects to the modem/router (whichever it is) from there. After I reset my computer this morning though, my computer has absolutely refused to connect to the network. I've tried resetting the router/modem and unplugging and replugging in my Ethernet cable. I noticed however in the network center it showed me connected to Network 8 (my standard home connection) for a few seconds but then it changes to unidentified public network and breaks connection to the Internet. Wireless is working fine and I'm infact typing all this on my iPhone 4.

Samba As PDC: "The Trust Relationship ... Failed"

Jan 15, 2013

When I try a net logon from Windows 7 64-bit Business (don't have any other Windows machines), I get "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed". The discussion I've found around the Web regarding this error message seems to be only in the context of the 30 day password expiry issue, where the solution is to simply rejoin the domain.I have this problem *always*, and rejoining does not help. I have not been able to do a net login at all, from the first time I tried. At the same time, there's no problem accessing the Samba shares by going to \SMB in Windows Explorer and logging in with the same user accounts. Code: # smbstatus Samba version 3.6.7-48.12.1-2831-SUSE-SL12.2-x86_64 The LAN is on 172.16. and the Samba machine is also the LAN's DNS server; not using LDAP. We had been using Samba for simple file sharing, with no domain functionality enabled, and with the Windows machines on the network configured as members of the workgroup. We recently decided to set Samba as a PDC and support roaming profiles, and have been blocked by this trust error.

The profiles directory was chmod 2775 and its group changed from root to users. The netlogon directory is 755. Initially, in smb.conf the name resolve order was starting with dns, but Windows 7 kept giving me an error about not finding the domain when I tried to change from workgroup to domain, so I took that out and set wins as the first item in the list.

Code: # cat /etc/samba/smbusers:
root = administrator Administrator admin
nobody = guest pcguest smbguest I added root to smbpasswd.

I also executed the following:

Code: net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=root rid=512 type=d
net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain Users" unixgroup=users rid=513 type=d
net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain Guests" unixgroup=nobody rid=514 type=d

[code]....

Brought in a new Windows 7 64-bit machine and that one works... So it seems to be a Windows configuration issue, but what other settings could possibly cause this authentication failure? The new machine is a recent clean install and uses MSE as antivirus, whereas the older workstations use AVG and Ad-Aware. But I doubt the antivirus could cause the difference. And I don't see any difference in the network configuration of the machines.
