Network Location Cannot Be Reached When Attempting To Join Domain?

I just made a custom Windows 7 computer image for my company with all the bells and whistles that I've learned from this site and the Microsoft security forums.However, I went to join it to the domain and I get the following message:"the following error occured when attempting to join the domain.....; the network location cannot be reached"-I am trying to add it to a server 2k3 domain-I can ping IP and FQDN of DC-can add other windows 7 machines to domain-can add XP machines with similar security settingsI firmly believe that it is a registry edit I have made or a gpedit that I made, I'm just really not sure which one and it seems like I tried changing all the major ones back

I have done this all before. In addition to

I am using Samba 3.5.8 and I am trying to join a Windows 7 64Bit laptop to my domain.
HP Pavillion dv6
Intel core i5 CPU M 520 @ 2.40GHz 2.40Ghz
4.00 GB RAM
However when I try join the domain i get the following message:"The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "MYDOMAIN"The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.If I do a nslookup it resolves the domain controller, as well if i watch the traffic I can only see UDP traffic on that IP, however i can still browse the web from it?

I'm helping a Dental Office get their current workstations upgraded. All workstations are complete and ready to swap out the old hardware, except i am worried that when the users go to log back into the domain from the new pc's, they won't be able to.
The previous IT guy said they are local profiles, located on each individual PC and not on the server? I thought setting up a Domain was so people could log in from any computer on the network?

I think windows 7 is a total waste of time and money.More problems in windows 7 than even vista. windows 7 home premium can't be joined to a domain ,windows 7 professional can't keep domain profiles , etc.

First of all i am running windows server 2008 R2 ( AC DC , DNS , DHCP ) and i am running another windows server 2008 r2 as a router ok .. so my other router server messed up so i had to reinstall it and i ddi btu whenever i try to join it to the domain i got error message >>>The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate an Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for domain "Anything.local":The error was: "DNS name does not exist."(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.Anything.local Common causes of this error include the following:- The DNS SRV records required to locate a AD DC for the domain are not registered in DNS. So I recently installed Windows 7 x64, and suddenly my wireless connection is no longer working. It worked fine with the previous Vista 64-bit OS. I'm able to connect to a different router, and the internet works fine. However, I cannot connect to my Home router. Other laptops are able to connect to it just fine (running the Windows 7 OS).
I updated the network adapter drivers, reset the router and modem, don't have the Bonjour service at all, updated everything Microsoft had for me, and tried that spoofing Network Address solution. When I try to ipconfig /renew, it freezes and eventually says "DHCP could not be reached" or something along those lines.
After all this it still doesn't work, and I still get the "169" IP address when I ipconfig.
The router is Linksys WRT54GS. My wireless network adapter is Atheros AR9281.

I have desktop with windows 7 professional installed. It is connected thru ethernet. the other computer is laptop with windows 7 ultimate connected wireless. Now I can create a home group on one computer. but I cannot able to join home group from other computer. I have already changed sharing option on advanced sharing tab. I have the same homegroup name, too. Can you please tell me what am I doing wrong?

I am trying to setup a home group. I have created a Home Group on the main computer which has the printer hooked up directly. The printer is a Brother MFC-425CN. When i try to join the home group from my laptop, it says there is no home group to join on the network.

Recently this few days after an MS update I think, I've been getting popups regarding a process mscorsvw.exe attempting to connect to the internet from my firewall s/w. It happens often when the pc is idle - I see the alert when I get back.
Some checking on my side said that mscorsvw.exe is a .NET process but I've never had any security alerts from this process at all before. The method given to disable it aren't relevant now.
I find it annoying and I don't like any background processes accessing the internet in general. Is there any way to shut it down or cut down the number of times it spins up on its own?

5 month old Dell XPS 8500 Win 7 64 bit Pro as main computer connected by Wired Adapter, Upgraded Gateway 5632E also running Win 7 64 bit pro as second connected by Wireless. Both running Kapersky successfully. no network problems for 5 mo.
Both were successfully linked using homegroup. Had to take Gateway to a remote location to do a business demo. While there had to link to a local public WiFi. While connecting made mistake and left homegroup.
When Gateway returned to homebase a few days later it was fine, had no problems finding wireless but could not see or rejoin Dell machine homegroup. It would let me set up a new homegroup.
Went to Dell box and found 1) homegroup no longer existed, 2) router and network and wireless printing no longer found - Red X on the taskbar) even though internet was still working fine.
Took nearly a week of trying differernt fixes, on adapter- off adapter- different adapter reboot network, router, even updated router firmware (Yes I went through every ipconfig reset, renew, redecorate etc. I've used netsh functions to try to get evrything to reset. Changes services.msc settings per other posts. Finally in desperation, deleted every sub key in the registry related to network locational awareness and got the Dell to find the network, let me set it up as a "home" network and then even see the invitation to join the Gateway's homegroup.
Then I hit a wall- when I try to join- Win 7 says I can't join the homegroup because the network is not a "home network". Of course troubleshooting is useless and goes into an endless loop. Have searched in desperation for any way to make Win 7 return to a clean slate so it can sense that it really is on a home network without success. Applied the fix-it and hotpatch for when Win 7 gets stuck in public mode. No joy. Deleted the hide wizard subkey as suggested elsewhere. No Joy. Gut feeling says problem must lie in the NLA or peer networking somewhere but where?
Does anyone know of a method or set of steps (short of a clean reinstall of Win 7) to completely clear every thing the OS knows about my network and force it to acknowlege my network is a home network? Is there a registry hack that will clear the problem?
I know I could abandon the homegroup and do conventional file/print share but I am concerned that using that solution won't last as whatever is screwing up the homegroup could eventually screw regular sharing and then I'm back to reformating/reinstalling. I'm just about ready to join the Apple folks so I never have to work on Windows again.

I'm connected to my college network via VPN and would like to map a network drive. When I try to access the share on the network form 'RUN', it sure does ask me the username/password credentials, but I understand the domain is the problem here.The domain it's trying to use is apparently wrong and I'm not able to change it. Any ideas? The domain it's giving is Domain : <Windows 7 system username>-PC Which is not what I want. I'm not able to change it as well EDIT:I just gave the domain name as part of the username and it worked! For example : username : Campususerid

"Instead of having her do a remote connection to one of our desktops, its seems to me it would be more convenient for her for us to setup a workstation with direct access to our domain network in her office. She will also need a laser printer and a scanner on her end, and be able to send to ours on our end." what steps need to be taken to get her computer set up and running with direct access to their domain. when i log on to a employes PC, and run an elevated CMD(admin) and type my admin logons. on the same doamin we both are belong to.
then i dont get allow to change from disk C: to disk V:.
but if i rin a normal CMD then i can change disk. but then i dont get the rights to install a script. i change disk by typing V: dont work
i have seen that some type cd /D V: - <-- what does the /D stands for?

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate on a network w/ 2003 Windows domain. When I first added this computer to the domain, everything worked fine for about a month. Then one morning I came into the office, tried logging in and received a message that the computer has lost it's trust connect with the domain.I logged into the server w/ the DC, reestablished the trust connection from the server side but the comp is still giving me the "Can't establish trust connection" error message when I logged in. My current workaround is unplug the network cable, log into the comp then replug the network cable.

I accidentally took my laptop off the domain while installing a printer from a workgroup network, and placed the laptop on the workgroup, once restarted I cannot log in anymore, I am trying the password recovery tools to log into the administrator account.Is there a way for me to roll back the settings and have it back on the domain the way it was without being connected to the domain?And to get the user account back the way it was (basically just the network settings) so that I do not have to setup a new profile and migrate all the settings and programs?

I currently have my Xbox 360 connected up to my Laptop via Ethernet and I am having a problem with streaming videos and music. Everything else works fine, it connects to Xbox Live etc, and connects to the Laptop and finds the video files, it just won't play them. It gives the error:
'The connection to your computer was lost. Make sure your computer is turned on, connected to the network, and running media sharing software.
Status Code: 53-C00DF238'
I can't find much information about this error apart from one person stating that the ethernet connection to their Xbox had made itself public rather than private and could fix it by changing it to private again.
This is where I'm having a problem. The connection is showing up as an unidentified network with no internet access and as a public network. I can't figure out how to change it to a private network, there just doesn't seem to be an option.
Everything else on the laptop is working fine, my firewall is configured correctly, media player 12 is sharing correctly, the homegroup is set up etc. It just won't stream the video and the only thing I can think of now is that it needs to be a private network in order to allow streaming. I just can't change it.
I have attached a screenshot of my network & sharing centre to show you how it won't let me change the network location type.

I have a desktop PC with a Broadcomm Gigabit ethernet onboard. I live in a rural area and do not have cable internet and I have to use wireless. I have a UM175 wireless USB device. I use the USB to connect to the internet and use "Internet Connection Sharing" to share with my local connection (Broadcomm).
I set the Broadcomm to 192.168.0.1 and all the other PC's on my home network can get to the Internet through it.
My problem is I cannot get the Broadcomm network location to get set to Home. It keeps defaulting to Public, and because it is Public, I cannot use Homegroups with it because it is being seen as a Public network.
I tried removing the wireless card and, using Device manager, I disabled the Broadcomm and re-enabled it but when it came back online it automatically reverted to "Public".

I'm trying to establish a home network between my 2 computers both running win 7 7100 (main is x64, secondary is x86). they are connected directly with an Ethernet cable. my main computer shares its Internet connection with the secondary computer (thus mains ip address for that connection is static, secondary is dynamic, assigned by dhcp).
my main computer does not recognize the network connection between the 2 computers - it shows up as an unidentified network and i cannot change its name or location (it's stuck at public).
is there any way to get my main computer to recognize the network without adding any hardware?
