A relative is having a problem with their laptop. When I try to boot normally, I get to the login screen and it locks up and I can't move the mouse and select a user, it just freezes. When I boot in safe mode everything works properly and I'm able to login without any problems. So i was wondering if it could be a bad driver that is causing this?

This happens when the error occurs:
BIOS shows up normally
Window 7 logo is shown for a brief second
black screen
With boot details enabled, I see that drivers are getting loaded until classpnp.sys. After that the screen goes black as well and the system hangs.
Now when I turn on the machine, I get a text screen asking me whether to start normally or run a recovery attempt. Usually starting normally is all it takes and Windows boots up fine. Once Windows is up and running, it's rock solid. No lockups, no BSODs or whatsoever.
Unfortunately I have no idea how to get debug details of this part of the boot process (os loader phase?).
I already switched the SATA Ports, switched to a different brand and even switched to mSATA. So I'm pretty sure it's not the SSD. Using Windows SATA drivers or Intel RST doesn't make a difference either btw.

i was playing minecraft when suddenly y computer freezes and it begins to restart. at that point i thought maybe: "oh, minecraft crashed my computer". but little to my knowledge it was worse than that.I have an ASUS G50vt, and it has always run pretty good and i have the rare problem, but nothing this bad.i can boot in safe mode so i deduced that is might not be the hadware then i thought that it could be java, so i uninstalled minecraft and all files related, then i went to uninstall java but i realized that i cant when in SAFE MODE.ive tried the javara thing and still nothing and i even made it to where my computer wont restart when it crashes.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have compaq presario sr1630nx and I have an issue that started after I opened the case and used my compressor to blow the dust out of it its not the first time ive done this like 4 times to be exact. My machines issue starts when I turn it on the fans go on but the cpu fan runs the loudest and it displays nothing other attempts it turns on normal but still nothing on the display. After idk the twentieth attempt of turning on and off it finally boots up normally, but I cant do nothing major like go on the web to long because it freezes right away. i could listen to music but it will eventually freeze after fifteen minutes or the display will turn to an orange or blue screen. The pc does have some upgrades like a graphics card for two dvi inputs and power supply which were done about a year ago.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to do a clean start up and still freezes. I've tried to restore it to previous settings and still having problems. Sometimes it freezes when i'm logging on and if i make it past that then it usually freezes within the next 1-3 minutes.

Two PCs here, one with Windows Business other with Ultimate have the same problem.They don't crash or completely stop, nor go slow along the day. They just give me several small halts during the entire operation.Everything is up to date, during stress test no problems are noticeable but (one PC is overclocked by 40%, other is stock).Full virus check, nothing found.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy PC since a week has started freezing randomly one or twice a day. All the windows stay open, the mouse does not move,. Even Ctrl+Alt+Delete does not work; CAPS Lock light does not get toggled. Sometimes it happens after just 10 mins of startup, sometimes after a few hours. It has always happened under normal usage, ie. no games/Photoshop/3ds Max running. Just Firefox running or sometimes even while no app running. Once it happened while I was scanning a picture, and the scanning head (the light-tube) of the scanner also froze midway.

I ran memtest86 for 3 passes (1 hour +) and it showed 0 errors. My installation is 1 year old. I've ran disk cleanup to clear temp files and stuff, and I've got 20 out of 90 GB free in my C: Drive (Win 7 partition) and 200 out of ~850GB on my secondary partition. The last program I had installed is LogMeIn Hamachi which I have uninstalled, but the PC froze once again after the uninstallation! I also got my PC case internals and especially the CPU heatsink fan (without detaching the fan/heatsink) cleaned.. but I'm not getting any CPU overtemp error anyways.

Tried bootrec commands and did nothing.. .
Tried chkdsk /f /r and still nothing. . .
Tried start up repair like 30+ times and it didn't fix it and said no root cause.
I installed a new motherboard, ram and graphics card yesterday. Installed all the drivers and everything was working fine. Got up today turned pc on freezes just after I enter my login password (i had not touched with the PC in between). I run it in safe mode, runs for 2-5 minutes then freezes. I flashed the CMOS to see if resetting the bios would work, it works to let me log in and then 2 mins later freezes just the same. Hard restart after this then turn the PC back on freezes at the login screen again. It has on occasion frozen before the login screen, ie when it shows the motherboard company logo.

I have run virus scan, malwarebytes, all of it and its showing nothing found. I saw a thread from december last year on here with a similar issue were it was suggested the person post the results from a HijackThis System scan i will do the same in my next post. I looked at it but its all jibberish to me. The only thing i can do on my PC is safe mode.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe recently built some CAD workstation desktops and seemed to be running fine but as of two days ago one of them started freezing at seemingly random times. it froze while logged in (after working a few hours) a couple times but now consistently freezes just after the login screen (it lets me log in) when it says "welcome". The processing circle stops moving, mouse wont move etc. I have to manually restart.
It does run fine in safe mode so i ran a sweep for spyware with malwarebytes but im still having the same issue. it gave a blue screen at one point at the login screen, only time i got a blue error screen.

Custom built computer, ran on a sailor version of ultimate for a long time and had no problems. I recently double installed ultimate x64 with an upgrade dvd, and installing all the driver updates the computer would freeze constantly, sometimes even right after the login window. I installed sp1 successfully but still crashes constantly.
i had skype for a long time but a week ago, i tried to log on and i found my laptop frozen, i have hp pavilion 32 bit operating system. i dont know what the problem is :/ i tried re-installing it but that didn't solve the problem, i also checked the firewall in case its blocked but again no nothing.

when I first reported this on the Windows 7 forum about a month ago the freeze was 7-8 minutes, last time I rebooted and logged in it froze for 20 minutes.
I'm having a problem with this laptop after changing out the ram. It's a Lenovo 3000n100, running Windows 7 32bit. ( I upgraded from Vista.)
It originally came with 1GB ram, I increased it to 2 GB. It shows in the bios as 2 and also in belarc.
After changing out the ram, about every other time I start it up, when it gets to the logon screen, the pointer is frozen. I can log in, and on the desktop it's also frozen, so I have to use the win key and arrows to restart then it starts up normally. Once in a while, when it get to the logon screen, it's just black and then I have to do a hard shut down.
I changed the ram sticks around, made sure they are seated properly and I still have this problem.
Before buying the ram, I ran the crucial advisor and bought [URL] Crucial 2GB Set(2x1GB) 200-Pin PC2 5300 667Mhz SODIMM DDR2 RAM: Electronics IRC, I didn't have this problem with the original ram 512x2. Not even sure if it's a ram problem or not, but I haven't been able to figure out what's going on.
I have also checked the intel drivers and they are up to date.

My computer had been running slowly and freezing a lot, so a few days ago I went through and deleted temporary files, changed it so fewer programs would run at start-up, uninstalled Adaware because I had read that it could conflict with antivirus software, ran a scan in avast, and then restarted. After restarting, the computer got to the blue welcome screen, and then stopped before it finished loading. Since then, I've only been able to boot in safe mode.I thought I might have a virus, so I ran some scans over the weekend at the advice of somebody on a different website's forums, but I haven't gotten anywhere.

If i move my mouse cursor to the bottom taskbar to click start it has the loading circle. If i click anything on my desktop that wont work either. i tried several things but i dont want to fresh install as i have tons of data and files that i need to keep otherwise i would have just went ahead with the fresh install. I called dell but my protection ran out 2 weeks ago and they want 270 for software help i really dont have that type of money as the mortgage gets taken out and im a little behind if not i would have went that option. If you need more infor write in the thread and ill try as i cant really access anything on the pc.

If I wait too long (maybe 1-2min) to login on the startup screen, the windows freezes! This never happens if I login right away and almost 100% if I wait.

As soon as I noticed, I turned off the computer manually, and booted back up in safe mode. I ran Avast, Ad-Aware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. All 3 found a couple of threats, which I deleted. I tried restarting my computer, and then running these 3 again in safe mode (with network). I did it as long as threats were found. Once the computer felt safe, I tried booting in normal mode.
Here's the problem : I get to the "Welcome" page, and then everything goes black but my cursor. What's strange about the problem : For some reason, I did succeed to get it to open normally 2 or 3 times, but every single time it would be crazy laggy. Internet Explorer wouldn't work either. It freezes as soon as I try to access anything. And now it's back to a black screen after the "Welcome" page when I try booting in normal mode. Only my cursor appears (I can move the cursor). Safe Mode works just fine too, only Normal mode has a problem.
