Interupt Exception Not Handled - Caused By Driver Tcpip.sys
Nov 11, 2011
On random occasions (not that often), I get a BSOD - 'Interrupt Not Handled'. Initially I thought it only happened when I was using my Marvell Controller as opposed to Intel but the dump check seems to suggest otherwise

Some background info: I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. It is 64-bit. I am running it on a laptop. I have no idea why I got the BSOD, but I did get it today. Restarted the computer in safe mode, then restarted again in "regular" mode and everything was fine. I'm typing on the same computer now (it's the only one I have, okay?). Can't think of anything that would be wrong with the computer, except the charger broke (I'm pretty sure this is a charger issue, and a new one is in the mail) so the battery doesn't charge: I have to have the computer plugged in when I use it.

FS9 (Flight Simulation 2004) used to run OK, no problems. After installing REX2004 patches and Overdrive, a few seconds after starting FS9 a BSOD occurs. So far no other programs have caused a BSOD. I have tried fully uninstalling FS9 and reinstalling it and the BSOD returns after the reinstall. At present FS9 is not installed. Have now created the file folder you requested to support this thread, see attached. I can again run FS9?

So I've gotten a BSOD twice and decided to use a diagnosing program to see why it was happening. It picked up that ntoskrnl.exe is causing the BSOD. Why is it happening? What do I do from here?
I attached the .dmp file.

I just built my girlfriend's PC a few days ago, all was well but now a BSOD appears randomly, so after using BlueScreenView on the dump files it all originates from one driver. The PC in questions specs are almost identical to my own (minus the 1TB HDD and her MOBO is the Rev 3.1 version of the same MOBO).

I then got a BSOD and my boot disk (an SSD) disappeared from the BIOS. I thought I was in big trouble. I have another controller so I plugged the SSD into the other one and booted to it and rolled back to the MS driver (just for the SATA controller). I then put everything back together.
Everything seems to work now. Do I need to take any further steps to prevent this from happening again? What happened?

The HP laptop I have was designed for Win XP and someone upgraded it to Win 7 Ultimate before I obtained it. Everything ran fine until recently it started blue screening. The message says "a clock interupt was not received on a second processor". It appears updating the BIOS would work but HP does not offer a BIOS upgrade for Win 7, only for Vista and before. It appears you can use some drivers from XP though I am not sure BIOS would be one of those drivers.

This BSOD only started happening when we started streaming videos from our PC to our Roku 2 using PMS(Plex Media Server).Sometimes, not all the time, we will be 5 minutes into a video and it'll BSOD. The 3 most recent were caused during that time. The first 4 BSOD's in my attachment I believe were from driver issues. Maybe you can verify that as well.I've posted in the PLEX forums about it but didn't have any more info other than what bluescreenview provides. I'm guessing it's a conflict with avast AV or other third party software. I searched for an update for the NIC driver since tcpip.sys is mentioned, but there are none since 2009.

Asus P5Q Pro

I'm running retail 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium on a custom-built computer I made in summer of '09, the same install the whole time. Lately (last couple of weeks) I've been getting a BSOD after running a while, usually while gaming but sometimes when I've only been playing music. I tried finding out the cause myself, to no avail; a BSOD interpreter told me that only ntoskrnl.exe and tcpip.sys were on the stack, but I'm not familiar enough with Windows's workings to really know what that means. Some more googling found a likely culprit, an outdated version of Asus's ACPI driver, but I was unable to find an updated version to download

Computer Stats: 2009 Macbook Pro running Windows 7 Ultimate x32 via boot camp, all drivers up to date as of last night, no non-factory parts or tampering with any system files. Issue: Around a month ago, I noticed my laptop freeze up whenever I left it unattended for more than half an hour. Sometimes it would lag for 30 seconds or so and then be fine, sometimes I would have to reboot entirely. This happened again two days ago and upon rebooting it became stuck during the animation at the "windows loading" screen. I restarted and used F8 to pull up the advanced boot menu, chose "system repair", and it went through two loading screens before presenting a black screen of death that never seems to change. Booting in safe mode works, which I've used to scour the internet for fixes and ways to get incredibly drunk. Attempted Fixes: A full system virus scan (duration: 13 hours) with Kaspersky, Malware Bytes, and Panda. Nothing was returned save a few false-positives from torrents (only trusted trackers, nothing dodgy file-wise). Used the "repair my computer" option at F8'd start-up multiple times to no avail. Used "sfc/scannow" twice, which downloaded some windows updates but didn't fix anything. Yelled really loudly at computer and raised my hand as if to smack it, intimidating it into submission but not fixing core issue.
Here is the result of my bootlog, but before that I'll note that it hangs on "Loaded driver SystemRootsystem32DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS" for about thirty seconds when loading in safe mode. I thought that might have been the root and downloaded another copy of classpnp.sys, but again it didn't change anything:
Quote: Loaded driver SystemRootsystem32DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS
Did not load driver @hal.inf,%acpiapic.devicedesc%;ACPI x86-based PC
Did not load driver @battery.inf,%*compbatt.devicedesc%;Microsoft Composite Battery
Did not load driver @battery.inf,%*compbatt.devicedesc%;Microsoft Composite Battery
[Code].....
edit: I made a system recovery disk and attempted to use both its automatic fix feature and its "detect memory problems" feature. Both came back completely fine. Nothing has changed.
edit: Startup Repair has verified that the root cause is a driver. However, I've no idea which one. Surely that's contained somewhere in the bootlog.

my config:
Processor: AMD Phenom II x4 945 AM3
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5 AM3, BIOS F2
RAM: DDR3 Mushkin 996776 4x4 GB (16GB)
graphics: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 GV-R795WF3-3GD
[code]....
SSD, Radeon HD 7950 and Mushkin ddr3 are the newest parts. But I'm experiencing random BSODs (ntoskrnl.exe). There were also BSODs related to dwm.exe, but they disapeared when I installed Catalyst 12.8. Sometimes there are hardlocks without BSODs - ctrs+alt+del doesn't work here so I have to do a hard reset.First I thought it might be related to Radeon 7950 and compatibility problems - F2 (2009) is the latest BIOS for my motherboard (there is also F3J but still beta). Now it seems to be ok after I installed Catalyst 12.8.Then I thought that the SSD connected to Marvell controller is the problem. Well, there is a problem cause BIOS sometimes cannot see this SSD. Now Im thinking of buying a newest motherboard... unfortunately. I updated Marvell Controller drivers, still the same.Next thing - I ran memtest86+ ver. 4.20 to check memory. Pass 0 (Modulo 20, Random pattern) - there's only one error:
Test 8, Pass 0, Failing address 00080073468 - 2048.4mb
Good: e17e40c8
Bad: e17e00c8
Err-Bits: 00004000
Count 1
Next pass - no error. I let Memtest complete 6 passes. I got only this one error.BIOS settings:
tCL: 9
tRCD: 9
tRP: 9
tRAS: 24
Ram voltage - 1.635v set memory voltage to 1.650V. First MemTest pass - no errors. Second pass also completed. I think that all four sticks are ok. I can't say it's overheating. I'd say the memory is getting warm (even not so warm), but not hot. Third MemTest pass also was completed. No lock ups. Probably too low voltage could generate errors.Today I got another BSOD:

So I finally get everything installed and running. I updated my gfx drivers to the latest at the time(a couple weeks ago) and things worked.
The computer had been shut off for probably a week maybe longer. Turn the computer on, right after I login, bam, BSOD. system_service_exception.
So I do some searching on another computer. Most of the things come up talking about gfx drivers being the problem, but nothing definite.
I rolled back the drivers. Things work fine. ATI released a new driver catalyst 9.11. I install that, everything is fine. computer was shut down and restarted and still worked fine.
I fire up the computer tonight, bam, BSOD. Same message as before. So I rolled back the gfx driver and now it's working normal again.
Does it make sense for the computer to be working fine with the newer drivers, be shut down for a while, and then not work? Cause that doesn't make sense to me.
There's also not much information out there regarding this system_service_exception BSOD that comes up. It would be nice to have some better concrete info on it.

Yesterday I wanted to use my HP laptop with my TV so I connected it using an hdmi cable. Everything connected fine and I opened up my cyberlink youcam software to adjust the camera settings. I got up for a minute to do something and when I came back the computer had gone to the blue screen of death (displayed right on the tv screen). The error was SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. This is the first time this happened so im not sure what to think. According to the HP website all of my drivers are up to date so I don't think that would be the problem.
I attached the dmp file and screenshots of my system specifications.

Since building a new computer a few months back, I have been having issues with BSOD's while playing certain games like Battlefield 3 or Wow. But Skyrim and others are fine. I've tried many different drivers for ati and I'm currently using 11.12, but crashes still happen. I don't believe its a overheating problem as the temps are all low. WhoCrashed suggests a driver issue and has singled out ati as the possible issue a few times.
