Where is the network card connect & disconnect information please? In XP it was in the System Event log, but not in 7. I can get this information when I use a mobile as a tethered modem but I need to know when the LAN network card is detected.
View 7 RepliesBasically my laptop has been having very high temperatures for a long time (usually ~60C for CPU and often 100-110 for GPU...insanely high, in other words) For example, see how hot the machine gets just by resuming from a sleep (this is all within a minute or so):I have been seeing the following error in event viewer each time I start Windows (4 entries) for some time:So today I bit the bullet and had the back cover off the laptop and noticed what a bad state the thermal compound was in, for both the CPU and the chipset chip, so wiped it off using TIM Cleaner, and then applied new thermal compound and put the laptop back together. I was actually shocked because for the first time since I can remember, I could feel cold air blowing from the vents of my laptop! I logged into Windows and noticed that my temperatures had fallen and were staying at around the below:Not as low as I'd like but a massive improvement. Trouble is, I am still getting the WHEA-Logger event errors in Windows Event Viewer ('processor core') and wondered if this was not in regards to overheating after all?The plus side is my laptop is now almost totally silent - the way it must have been when I bought it new 3 years ago! But I was wondering how to investigate these WHEA-Logger errors?PS - I think I accidentally got some TIM Cleaner spilt on the carpet. Clean install from Microsoft image and valid key from Microsoft.
This BSOD only started happening when we started streaming videos from our PC to our Roku 2 using PMS(Plex Media Server).Sometimes, not all the time, we will be 5 minutes into a video and it'll BSOD. The 3 most recent were caused during that time. The first 4 BSOD's in my attachment I believe were from driver issues. Maybe you can verify that as well.I've posted in the PLEX forums about it but didn't have any more info other than what bluescreenview provides. I'm guessing it's a conflict with avast AV or other third party software. I searched for an update for the NIC driver since tcpip.sys is mentioned, but there are none since 2009.

Problem:
Computer rarely restarts during the time I am using it. It restarts if I leave stuff downloading overnight or if I leave on during the day. I then have to re-install any software I installed the previous time because it says it was shutdown improperly ( CRASHED).
I then check the Event logger and see it has multiple crash reports.

Windows did not show any network connections in the network connections window. I tried everything that I could find online but nothing worked. As a last resort I decided to reinstall the driver for my Intel 82566DC-2 Gigabit network connection. I uninstalled the old driver and then installed the latest drivers but now I get code 31 (cannot find the driver software) in device manager and the connection doesn't work.

I'm running retail 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium on a custom-built computer I made in summer of '09, the same install the whole time. Lately (last couple of weeks) I've been getting a BSOD after running a while, usually while gaming but sometimes when I've only been playing music. I tried finding out the cause myself, to no avail; a BSOD interpreter told me that only ntoskrnl.exe and tcpip.sys were on the stack, but I'm not familiar enough with Windows's workings to really know what that means. Some more googling found a likely culprit, an outdated version of Asus's ACPI driver, but I was unable to find an updated version to download

So far no other programs have caused a BSOD. I have tried fully uninstalling FS9 and reinstalling it and the BSOD returns after the reinstall. At present FS9 is not installed. After i type in my password at the login screen windows hangs for about 15 - 20 seconds on welcome with the moving circle. Total boot time is about 40 - 50 seconds. I've checked the event log and an event 100 and event 200 show up at every boot and shut down but it does not tell me what process is causing this. Not only won't it connect, but I can't even find any wireless networks, the icon in the bottom right just has a red cross. I'm currently using another laptop which can detect the network and next doors too so it is not a problem with the router. My PS3, phone, iPod etc also all connect fine. I've checked the fn f2 thing and that is definately on and working. Also when i click on "change adapter settings" in "network and sharing centre", it is there and is enabled and has the full green symbol icon but also has a red cross.

I've also done a system restore from before the incident and that hasn't helped. I've been running Windows 7 and connecting to my wireless router for a few months with absolutely no problems at all. Suddenly a couple of days ago the wireless stopped working and it can't see any connections. There used to be a few it could see, but now not even one! I know the router is ok because I can access it wirelessly with my iPhone. I also know the hardware is ok on the laptop because I swapped the hard drive with an old XP one and the wireless worked perfectly.

I've had a problem for the past few months trying to get my Internet to work. The wireless works fine with my phone, other computers, installed Ubuntu on my comp, etc. The only place it seems to not be working is in my windows. I'be checked out a few videos and can't seem to find the exact solution. I'm thinking it may be a virus, but the avast antivirus "quick check" didn't find anything of that sort. In the device manager under Network Adapters, there are two links that each have a yellow 'i' symbol. When I troubleshoot with windows it says there are no issues. When I go to 'Change adapter settings' there are no adapters available such as the LAN, etc.

All of sudden today i cannot connect to the internet. I have a red X over the wifi icon. it says "not connected - No connections available". i have done all i know to do and sat on hold with dell tech support for over an hour. I have Windows 7 Home Premium. I can connect to and browse the internet using Google Chrome. Internet Explorer times out. I noticed the problem because my AVG update is not updating. The wireless shows a limited connection and the wired shows a cable connected by no network connection.
As soon as I restart or shut down/reboot both or either connection restarts automatically and the Internet works.
This is really inconvenient when using a laptop on the move. Any one got any ideas?
i have a USB Internet Connection and a WI-FI connection. i want to use both of them simultaneously. i know i can't stack their download and upload speed, but atleast i can download 2 files at the same time without having one internet connection doing all the burden. i think it's called load balancing or whatsoever. and it's built into windows 7? but whenever i try to connect the USB internet connection, my WI-FI suddenly goes "No internet connection". but it is still connected.
