View 0 Replies View RelatedIn IE8, do people use it? I find it blocks something on every web page I visit so I'm always seeing the exclamation point. And wondering if it is making the web page not display properly. On a few sites I was able to allow some things to make the pages display correct but then it has to be run with "choose which content to block" which seems basically the same as not running it at all. I couldn't find a lot of info about it. Only how to turn it on or off.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had IE shortcuts on my desktop that I've used without problem for years. Since about 3 days ago whenever I double click one of these links the page opens in InPrivate viewing. If I close the page and retry, the page opens normally without InPrivate.I get the same problem when opening links from emails but closing the webpage and retrying results in me still getting InPrivate viewing. The only option with links in emails is to copy & paste the link

View 10 Replies View RelatedThere used to be a section on my internet explorer jumplist called "Tasks", I didn't put it there it was there since I upgraded to ie9. View 7 Replies View RelatedAbout 3 weeks ago I deleted two .avi files from the video folder on my PC, and for a few days afterwards they continued to reappear there. They still turn up occasionally in Explorer Resources, but when I try to delete them again, I am told that they cannot be found, so they actually have been deleted. Is there any way to get rid of these entries completely? I cannot use standard removal tools since I cannot eliminate a file that 'no longer exists' (!) on the computer.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can turn on a pc from another machine on the same home network, but can not from the Internet.I am doing this Wake-On-WAN experiment at home by using two machines each connected to the Internet through different ISP.The problem must be somewhere in the BIOS or the router setting for the machine to be turned on.I reviewed the BIOS and found the relevant option was enabled by default. As for the router(D-Link DIR 655), I set the portforwarding for the machine with a arbitrary port number(I picked 9) assigned. I did not see anything else relevant but I might have missed something. To send the magic packet, I am using depicus GUI. I also tried one at dslreports website. So far no luck yet. By using packet analysis utility of Wireshark, I could confirmed that the magic packet is hitting the router for the target PC but for some reason, the router does not forward the packet to the target PC's NIC. Instead, it broadcasts ARP to get the MACID of the NIC. Note that the magic packet contains the MAC ID and this is confirmed by intercepting this packet at the sending end PC.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA few days ago my computer was infected with the trojan HEUR:Backdoor.Win64.Generic (consrv.dll). Kaspersky caught it and removed it but not before it disabled my windows security service, "base filtering engine". I restored the service in the register but it won't start even though it is set to automatic. I think it won't start because the file bfe.dll was corrupted by the virus. I have another copy of the file obtained from a working computer with the same operating system but I cannot replace it because "I don't have permission".
how to replace this protected file or how to get BFE to start?
My BFE service Base Filtering Engine has been deleted by a nasty installer or whatever...how can i manually reinstall the BFE service without a full reinstall ?i don't have any system restore point available (never need this sh##ty feature in the past)Windows 7 x64 BFE service does not appear anymore in the "local service" service has been deleted!

Having received a report from Norton error 5013,3, I have now identified that I have lost Windows Base Filtering Engine from my Windows 7 Home X64 system. Can anyone tell me how I can get this back. With previous versions of Windows, you could simply re-install Windows over the top but my install DVD telle me that it is not compatible with what I now have (probably due to all the various updates etc. Is there not a download which could simply restore the lost feature?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have family members who aren't very computer savvy but somehow get to the sites they shouldn't have, like to click on links they don't even understand (thus gets infected with viruses etc). I set up a limited windows 7 account for them, browser of choice is IE9, and I need software where I can make list of safe sites they can visit. all other sites should be blocked until added to that list. As I said before they aren't very computer savvy so I don't need something that is hack proof or anything. There is microsoft Family Safety in windows live essentials is that any good for this purpose? Is there any alternatives?
