InPrivate Browsing Is Not Appearing On Ie9 Jump List?
Jul 19, 2012
There used to be a section on my internet explorer jumplist called "Tasks", I didn't put it there it was there since I upgraded to ie9. And under this section were two options "InPrivate Browsing" and "Open a new tab". They are now both gone and I don't know how to get them back.
I recently performed a clean install of Windows 7 x64 on a laptop. However, Application tasks are not appearing in the Jump List. Certain features such as closing an application's windows or unpinning a program from the Start Menu/Taskbar works, however. I've tried various solutions, such as clearing the %APPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsRecentAutomaticDestinations folder and pinning/unpinning programs from the Start Menu/Taskbar. I also tried the solution posted here: Jump List tasks not working. Nothing works.
where the quick launch icons are. instead of the icons being separate. they have something called a jump list. how do i get rid of the jump list. specifically, this is for notepad documents.
i have 2 notepad docs on my quick launch list. one is just the blank notepad doc & the other is a saved notepad document with info on it. instead of having separate icons for each, they are grouped together in a list like you see here... Jump Lists - Reset and Clear All Items its called a taskbar jump list. how do i make it so that each document has its own separate icon?
I am using 64-bit Windows 7 and 32-bit Microsoft Office. For a long time I had noticed that the jump list for Excel was not updating in the Start menu. After a lot of research I have made sure that the settings have been made for the lists to actually show, and set the number of documents to show. Jump lists update fine for Word. The internal recent documents in Excel update fine too. However, "Recent documents" in the Start menu doesn't update for Excel files. I have also gone to the various locations recommended and deleted the files to clear the jump lists. That did the job of clearing the lists, but whereas Word, for example, has built up its list again, Excel is still showing nothing. I am opening Excel from the Start menu usually, and it makes no difference whether I open a file from a shortcut, double-click in Explorer or from within Excel, the file never appears in the jump list.
I know, in the Start Menu/taskbar customization area, there's a place to set how many items show in the jump list....my question is, why does the jump list stop taking new items after about 35? (Even though my "number of recent items to display in jump lists" is set to 60?) I know it's probably a PEBKAC (Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair)
The Jump Lists for all other programs display recent items correctly. It's only IE 8 that isn't emembering/displaying recently browsed sites - History/Frequent.
I have used RealVNC on several computers in our network. In the past, even when the VNC Viewer is pinned to the start menu, I have never gotten a jumplist of recently connected to computers.I recently installed it on another machine and it DOES have a jumplist of recently connected to computers. This is a great help and I would like to have it on other machines. how to make a program (vncviewer.exe) show a jumplist?
I am having a small problem with my explorer jumplisits. I haven't really used them before but just decided to start using them and I love them. The only problem is when the last explorer window closes all of the pinned folders are gone. I found a thread on here and it had a link to a microsoft update download but the genunine windows tool won't work, it says its outdated but I can't find a new version. So my question is does anybody have any other advice an how I can fix this problem. After I reboot I wont see any recent flies either. I really like this function but it is disappointing that I can't use it.
how to disable those jump lists, now we all know about the Right-Click ones, but there is other type witch i want to disable completely - the Left mouse click jump lists - it happen when you left clicking more then 1 second and sort of drag it up without the purpose to it. im using 7 Taskber Tweaker witch doing the job for the right click only but not the left (left just for Grouped button - but its not what i talking about here) there is no just left option.
P.S. - ive seen that those lists that im talking about often called "Lists Mode" i think, and presist also in any theme and are left click & drag based. there is got to be a solution for that.
Whenever I right click on the Windows Explorer superbar icon I only get options to open Windows Explorer or unpin it from the superbar. Options to allow recent items to be displayed in taskbar is still checked and the animation for dragging stuff to the superbar still shows the "Pin to Windows Explorer" option. Restart = no change, and the option works correctly for other users on the same machine.
I mistakenly drag the MS Word file from all program list to desktop and laterdelete that shortcut permanently.Later, when I try to open MS Word fromthe folder from MS Office from 'All Program List' of start menu;it was not thereat all. Now I don't understand how to open MS Word and how it would again appearin All Program List
Is there a way to control a single program from appearing on the recent programs list? I use Keepass for password management and have the program set to not remember the path of the database or key file. However, whenever I run the program, it gets populated on the recent programs list pointing straight to the location of the key file and database. Pinning the program to the taskbar does the same thing as well. I really do not want to disable the recent programs display, but I don't want anyone to be able to just have access to my passwords because the icon is right there for them to click on.
I've had IE shortcuts on my desktop that I've used without problem for years. Since about 3 days ago whenever I double click one of these links the page opens in InPrivate viewing. If I close the page and retry, the page opens normally without InPrivate.I get the same problem when opening links from emails but closing the webpage and retrying results in me still getting InPrivate viewing. The only option with links in emails is to copy & paste the link
In IE8, do people use it? I find it blocks something on every web page I visit so I'm always seeing the exclamation point. And wondering if it is making the web page not display properly. On a few sites I was able to allow some things to make the pages display correct but then it has to be run with "choose which content to block" which seems basically the same as not running it at all. I couldn't find a lot of info about it. Only how to turn it on or off.
When I am installing Windows (XP or 7), I first set the computer's CMOS to "Boot from CD ROM" first. Then I put the factory CD or DVD into the drive. Then I turn the machine on. After POST, I see the message "Press any key to boot from CD" and it continues. OK - that's normal
Now - let's do this: I copy the image of the bootable CD onto a flash drive. I then set the computer to "Boot from USB Flash drive" first. I install the flash drive. I turn the machine on. I never see the message "Press any key to boot from CD".
The computer's BIOS has several choices of "boot from flash drive" Which one do I choose? Question: Do I have to format the flash as a bootable? Is a simple "copy all" from a factory installation disk sufficient? Should I use a "clone' program to prepare the flash drive?
know of a way to tweak jump lists, so that instead of disabling them system wide, you can just disable them for specific programs? For example, I would like to turn off jump lists for IE and Notepad, but leave the jump lists for RDC and VPC enabled.
I have Win 7 64 and I have created a vbscript file to launch Windows Media Centre - the script tweaks the registry settings for WMC window size and position (so it always opens in the same position and size on my second montor) before shelling to WMC (which also includes command line swtches to open in the TV Guide). The trouble is that I have created a shortcut to the vbscript file and put it into the start menu - but when I right click on it, it doesn't give me the option to pin it to the task bar. If, however, I edit target for the original WMC shortcut to point to the vbscript then I can pin it. Interestingly, when I do it this way, the Jump List on the pinned shortcut on the taskbar still retains the WMC Jump List which is great(although the Jump List doesn't appear to work on the Start Menu shortcut). So the question is - is there any detailed information that someone can point me at to help me understand how the shortcuts, pinning and jump lists work? Specific questions are:- How does Win 7 tell the difference between the short cut I created for the vbscript file and the "standard" shortcut for WMC?- Why does the pin-to option not appear on the vbscript shortcut?- Can I programmatically, or manually, add shortcuts to the "pinned" area on the task bar?- What controls the Jump List and can it be customised?
If you remove a folder feom the Windows Explorer taskbar jump list, the folder never appears in the list again. That indicates there must be a file that remembers the names of the folders removed. I want to permit folders I previously removed to appear in the jump list again.
Is there anyway to make a bootable jump drive with all windows os on it? I need one for work. Everything I have found will only let me do one OS. I need Vista 32 and 64bit, 7 32 and 64 bit, and XP Pro.
In this tutorial, it's time to explore the new Windows 7 Taskbar further. We'll look at jump lists on the Taskbar and take a look at some customization options. Want to go back to the old style Taskbar with labels as well as icons? Want to add toolbars to your Taskbar? We'll show you how to do all that and more in this video.
I have just upgraded to Windows 7 and have discovered an annoyance with Windows Explorer. When I expand a folder's contents (tree) by clicking on the arrow icon, the entire contents of the left panel jump to the bottom of the visible screen (rather than just the subfolders expanding). The annoyance is that every time I expand a tree in the Explorer, I also have to scroll the contents of the left panel back up (because it jumped down). For example, in Vista, if I expanded a folder tree, only the sub folders would expand and move downward.
I have Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9 on my computer. How would I get the arrow on my mouse to jump to the default link when I turn on my computer or go to a new page.
