View 2 Replies View RelatedA few days ago my computer was infected with the trojan HEUR:Backdoor.Win64.Generic (consrv.dll). Kaspersky caught it and removed it but not before it disabled my windows security service, "base filtering engine". I restored the service in the register but it won't start even though it is set to automatic. I think it won't start because the file bfe.dll was corrupted by the virus. I have another copy of the file obtained from a working computer with the same operating system but I cannot replace it because "I don't have permission".

Having received a report from Norton error 5013,3, I have now identified that I have lost Windows Base Filtering Engine from my Windows 7 Home X64 system. Can anyone tell me how I can get this back. With previous versions of Windows, you could simply re-install Windows over the top but my install DVD telle me that it is not compatible with what I now have (probably due to all the various updates etc. Is there not a download which could simply restore the lost feature?

I set up a limited windows 7 account for them, browser of choice is IE9, and I need software where I can make list of safe sites they can visit. all other sites should be blocked until added to that list. As I said before they aren't very computer savvy so I don't need something that is hack proof or anything. There is microsoft Family Safety in windows live essentials is that any good for this purpose? Is there any alternatives?

And wondering if it is making the web page not display properly. On a few sites I was able to allow some things to make the pages display correct but then it has to be run with "choose which content to block" which seems basically the same as not running it at all. I couldn't find a lot of info about it. Only how to turn it on or off.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried re-adding the appropriate reg files. I've tried fixing permissions in the registry. I've tried all the cmd line commands. I have no idea how to get this service to run. Because of this the firewall doesn't work. And also i can't open any ports on my router I'm thinking.I've used ccleaner to fix the errors in my registry, as well as sfc /scannow. I was getting some error when trying to use the Windows 7 installation disc to repair windows so I couldn't do that.I'm also not infected with zero acess rootkit becaue these aren't found on my computer.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I have with a laptop not booting into Windows 7. The booting process hangs at the point where the mouse pointer appears, just before the welcome and logon screen. I am able to get the machine to boot by using the Last Known Good boot option, but on the next boot, it reverts back to its bad behaviour.
I can boot into safe mode. But disabling all services and startup items in msconfig does not make the problem go away. I've run a Malwarebytes scan, which detected a pup called iLivid which I removed and uninstalled. I also did a Dr. Web scan, which found and removed 1 additional problem file.
I exported the same registry control set before and after rebooting like this: I looked at HKLM/Select to find the "current" set and exported it to current.reg. Then restarted, let the boot fail, restarted using Last Known Good, then exported the "failed" set to current2.reg, which was the same set (002) as the previous "current". These files are about 15k each, so I have not pasted or attached them. I'm using Windiff to compare them, but can't find a way to export a "change" file to post here. What is interesting to me is that the failed file is smaller by 4%, so stuff has been deleted.

I'm using the Netgear wndr3400 right now, it seems to be pretty good but I've noticed my laptop disconnects randomly and reconnects quickly. Its not a major problem but when I'm reviewing my cameras motion recordings for the day through my network it starts to drop as low as 2mbps when I look at my Network device. I cannot find one that fully fits my needs. I've tried expensive routers and mid range but it seems like my old $50 router is all that continues to work. I keep getting routers that have the wireless drop out completely until I go reset it, or the NAT settings for the 360's will be moderate. I cannot fix the NAT for all 360's, just one (or havent found a way to fix it for all) If anyone knows of a good router that can handle this type of use please suggest one, I'm willing to spend some money if its going to work.

However smaller games such as Payday the Heist, CSS and Magicka have increased a lot.What im asking is if I upgrade to a decent intel i3 or i5, will I see a big fps different.Also to mention in BF3, no matter how low the graphics are the resolution, i still remain with the same fps. I can play on high settings and low settings and see no fps difference. View 8 Replies View Relatedjust bought GTA4, installed it, just to find out the max FPS i can get is 15, i can play many other games, COD4, MW2, on highest settings and have 50+ FPS, but on this i have to set it to the very very lowest settings, to get 30FPS.Ive reinstalled it a few times, updated drivers, even OC'd my CPU and RAM halfway through, to see no difference whatsoever. Also updated it with the latest patch, and still only hits 10-15 FPS.
