i've tried to install Windows 7 but installation keeps stopping, i can't even reach to where you choose to install.
I get a error then in storport.sys, i've tried the x86, and x64, of the 7600, and from the RC's, without success in none... And i tried all these with only 1 gb of ram.
I've got a P5N32-E SLI PLUS, a intel e8500, 4 gb ram, and i'm installing win 7 in a 80gb empty disc.
I have a Toshiba A300-18A laptop, bought in Portugal in 2008. It came pre-installed with Vista and I always left it in place because I couldn't find a proper time to backup everything properly. These holidays, I finally had the time to do that and 2 or 3 weeks ago I installed Win7. I didn't do an upgrade and did the custom install over the previous Vista version. Right after installation, during the first uses, my keyboard froze during an internet session. Simply, no key would work, but I had full control of the computer otherwise. Over the next days I found it happened quite frequently, and it didn't even need to be on internet. The most often place to freeze is in text editors (ConText, TexnicCenter), Excel (I'm using Office 2007), an online MMO and even the login screen, before I can actually access my computer. A restart usually solves the problem temporarily, sometimes I need two restarts in a row.Due to this, I did a reinstall of Win7, this time formatting the C: partition where I was making the installation. So this was a real clean install and I still had the same problems. I thought it would be drivers, so I installed some drivers I downloaded from Toshiba support center and THEN I found out about Toshiba's Win7 installation.Still the same problems. There are more curious things about the keyboard: it usually seems to think ctrl is pressed. I have opened the on-screen keyboard and noticed the ctrl-key depressed. Unpressing this key, thought, does not rehabilitate the keyboard. This ctrl-press must not always be on, thought, because sometimes I notice parallel behaviours and other times I don't. For example, I don't get 'save file' dialogs if I press 'S', but I do see the screen zooming in and out in a web browser if I roll my mouse-wheel. Also, I have some defects in Office (namely Excel) that I think may be related, and this since my first install: sometimes I'm going to Open Excel or Word and it says I have the ctrl key pressed and asks if I want to go through. More commonly I don't get this warning, but inside Excel, the usual shortcuts ctrl-c ctrl-v, ctrl-o (new book, portuguese version) offer me the insert/delete rows dialog. Sometimes ctrl-ins has this behaviour too, other times it works fine while ctrl-c does not. It's all very random.Finally, to complete the problems described in the subject. I've also noticed a behavious I NEVER had before installing Win7. Most often while playing the MMO (but not exclusively there) my screen goes white with some activity going up and down (sort of a mis-tuned TV from the analogical days) and I can only bring it to place changing windows to get my normal desktop. The MMO runs in dedicated full-screen mode and I guess it must be changing resolution. Also frequently (about 40% of the times), when I boot my computer it shows up the wrong resolution (1024x768) and, in the login screen, the little button on the bottom-right that allows one to shut down and restart shows up only these two options when ordinarily it shows 4 to 6 options. During normal use, I often get the video-going-white problem when I tilt the laptop display up and down.In 3 years I never had one single of the symptoms with Vista, now I get them everyday. Problem is that I quite enjoyed Win7 (and I don't like Vista) so I'd like to keep this OS if possible.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running Outlook 2010 with about 5 separate POP 3 accounts. I archive regularly and compact after archiving. After a lot of trouble cloning a new C drive to an SSD, Outlook, along with a lot of other software, began acting strangely. Everything has pretty much been resolved except for the Outlook problem.
For no reason I can isolate, Outlook will suddenly close, giving the message that it had to close and it will now try to retrieve my data. It does so, unless I was in the middle of composing an email - that will be gone! Sometimes, instead of closing, it freezes and says application not responding.
I checked the disk for errors using scan now and it's fine. I've run memtest and it's fine. I've run in safe mode and it just shut down with no comments. In working my way through suggestions on this board, I just ran Sysinternals Process Explorer until the error occurred and went back to normal. In looking at Process Explorer, I'm afraid the actual data is overwhelming to me. However, I'll attach everything I have.

I am installing Windows 7 (Custom installation initiated from Windows XP) but I get the following error message when the installation is on the "Installing updates" step of the installation:
"Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file. Contact the vendor of your Windows installation disc or your system administrator for assistance."
Do you have any idea what the problem may be with the installation? Is there a way to see what file that may be corrupted?
I have tried to burn the DVD in low speed, but the error appears anyway. I have a MSI K8T Neo2-Fir mainboard and the Windows 7 upgrade advisor application says that my hardware is okay for upgrading.
I have just got Windows 7 Ultimate.I accept the Licence Agreement, set my partitions as i want them but when it gets to the expanding files part it will hang at 0%. This happens on both the 32 & 64 bit disc.This is a brand new purchase which I opened it about an hour ago.The laptop has a 400GB HD and 2GB of ram. It came with Home Prem x64 pre-installed, So the hardware meets the requirements.What seems to be the problem?

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo i have a new SSD Corsair Force 3 240 gig and all I want to do is install Windows 7 Pro on it. This board does not support parted magic (cannot wake from sleep and there are no onboard video to wake up to) so ive resorted to clean all.I have not been able to successfully boot the OS on the SSD. I never intended on setting up raid but apparently all the literature i see is on raid. I created a USB install disk as reccomended onto a 8gig ntfs primary active did the bootsect /nt60 X: and it successfully worked copied the cd over to the flash drive and copied the rste drivers in a folder called drivers My SSD is installed on port 1 6gig sata intel (as this board doesnt have marvel apparrently) My DVD is installed on 3gig Sata port 6 I set up Raid in the bios as reccomended by others (as this is the only way to install ssd?).
Nothing UEFI is enabled There are no other drives hooked up to the computer. View 1 Replies View RelatedI could be on my computer for hours at a time and after approximately 6 hours of being logged in, my internet browser just stops working. When I try going to a web page, it doesn't even try to load. It gives a very quick blink to the icon on the tab but that's it. I'm not receiving any windows errors. The way that I've been working around this problem has been to log off(or shut it down) then log back on, then I have a few more hours before it does it again. When the browser stops working, "bittorrent" still runs (a program that needs internet access). This isn't a recent problem that I'm having. This has been going on for almost a year now.I'm running Windows7.

If there's a scan, it will freeze, whatever I choose to do, it will ignore it, but the computer isn't frozen completely since I can still access the start menu. Computer works fine in safe mode. After a few minutes, they stop working and the generic USB hub gets this error: This device cannot start. I am have 2 256GB SSDs running in raid 1 as my 'C' drive and 2-2TB hard drives are 'D' & 'E'. My system tells me that windows is handling the defragmentation of my drives. What I would like to know is if there is a way to stop the system from defragmenting my SSD 'C' drives, but let the OS defragment my D and E hard drives. Every time I use the machine, and especially when on the net, the system stops functioning and I get the BSOD with a warning it is performing a crash dump. View 6 Replies View Relatedi will be listening to Internet and playing a game (minecraft) while having a skype conversation. all is working fine, no cpu spikes, no high memory, then everything just stops.all audio is cut, all screens display what they had and nothing more (no update/movement), the mouse doesn't move and keyboard does not respond either.according to the hard drive activity light, there is no activity either.pressing the reset button on the case has no effect until pressed about four/five times in which then the computer will reset.system log has no relevant data on the complete stop, crash happened around 5:15pm and no log between 4:57:56pm - 5:26:36pm except for logons and logoffs.will be picking up canned air and removing all dust from the machine to rule out over heating.this is not really a constant issue, just keeps happening randomly, no really pattern.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy PC has recently stopped responding completely at times. Even Ctrl Alt Del doesn't bring up the usual menu, and I have to use the power button to reboot. There is no BSOD, but windows prompts me to choose between normal boot and safe mode when I reboot. The issue arises regardless of what I'm doing; it has occured when I'm gaming, or just surfing the internet. Running system restore to a restore point before the most recent updates from windows doesn't seem to fix the issue. The PC is about 1 year old. It's running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium, installed with an OEM disc on a custom system. Using a P67A-UD3-B3 motherboard and i5-2400 processor.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSomeone brought me their laptop yesterday, not usually my kinda thing to do repairs but I thought it was gonna be a software issue but no constant BSoDs on Vista so I figured I'd install 7 which worked fine for a bit but it was still playing up given it was a fresh install and then some more blue screens! I ran Windows Memory Diagnostic and it said there were errors within seconds but I couldn't get back onto 7 to view them. This morning I cleaned it out and swapped the memory to the other port but the screen wouldn't even switch on then, so I put it back and made sure it was seated properly and ran memory diagnostic again and no errors! Success! The only thing is, the fan isn't spinning it spins for about 5 seconds but then nothing and I imagine soon enough it'll overheat.

If I create a folder in desktop, or paste a file or folder to the desktop I only can see it if I hir refresh!!! It says Time Remaining: About 5 seconds and 0 bytes left but it stays like this for like a minute or so but it wasn't allays like this... This started happening a month ago... I have tried so many times to charge it. I have fuilly discharged it and recharged it. I have installed and reinstalled drivers. No matter what I do, it stops charging at exactly 45%.
I know the battery is sound and the problem is a software issue. Does anyone know how to change this cap on the battery. BTW The new battery has slightly, (very) more capacity. This has not been a problem in other laptops, but this Fujitsu certainly caps the charge at 45%
