I have all but concluded that my old USB dongle I used for wifi is not compatible with Windows 7 (it installs correctly but detects no networks; An Edimax Ralink RT73 USB dongle).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my computer with a new OCZ 120GB SSD.I wanted to connect my original HDD, two 500GB WD 7200rpm.However, when I connect all three hard drives on my mobo, SSD does not appear on bios. If I connect just the SSD, it shows up, and if I connect just HDD, it shows up as well.However, I cannot find SSD from boot up priority menu if HDD is also connected.There are only three choices: HDD, DVD Drive, and Floppy disk... which I do not have.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed windows 7 (build 7000) on my older dell inspiron 700m. Everything has been running smoothly except for what i believe is a video driver problem. My screen max res. is 1280x800 but it's limiting me to 1024x768 right now. I also can't do things like screen-savers, because when I try to enable them, instead of the preview, i get a message saying that it isn't compatible with Direct3D. I went to the dell website and looked around for the newest driver.
On my system info page, it says that I'm using a standard VGA graphics display.
I didn't have this problem on XP SP3
Any help would be great.

I am looking for a KVM switch that can switch a VGA connected monitor and a USB mouse and keyboard between an always connected desktop running 64 bit Win 7 Home Premium and an occasional laptop running Win 7 Professional. I have a problem with my IBuypower desktop. I have only had it for 3 months, and recently I've had this problem when trying to open certain programs. This is the message that pops up. When I start up my computer, the computer checks the disks and says there is a file or program that was recently downloaded that needs to be removed, but I do not know what it is. I can't seem to find a solution to this anywhere online. Do I need to re-install Windows? I also just got blue screen.

I'm not an expert at computers, but I can say that it's an IBM ThinkPad built around 1999, as it is the lowest year available in the time setup. I want to update it to Windows 7 so I could maybe give it purpose again. Currently, it tries to use dial-up connection, has no USB ports, but does have a CD drive. It came with an external floppy disc drive. I've searched around on Google for a day or two to see if this is even possible. From what I've seen, it's possible to jump from Windows 95 to Windows 7, but I don't know if anything about the computer itself can change that (e.g. the space on its hard drive, its lack of modern ports, its lack of wi-fi connection). I have a full copy of Windows 7 on the CD, and I can put a CD in the laptop itself, so I see no problem there. My major fear is that I'll try to put in the disc and it automatically erases everything on my hard drive or kill the computer because it's too much strain on an old system.

- ASUS M4N68T-M LE V2 MoBo
- Processor is AMD phenom II X4 965 Black Edition.
- One Stick of 2Gb memory DDR 3
- ATI Radeon 6870 Sapphire.
If I restart my system (and this happens like out of 100 restarts 97 times) the system would be on the black post screen and say that the CPU is not compatible with my mobo. Then in order to resolve this I have to got to BIOs and turn on all the cpu cores and the unleashing mode under CPU and restart. Then it would reflect that all the **4 cores are active** and then it would work fine. But why does this happen after every restart. I thought it was CMOS battery but the date and time and other BIOS settings are fine.
Can any recommend a cheap flatbed scanner? One that works in Windows 7 64 bit. My ole Visioneer 8700 is a paper weight now that I've got Windows 7.

The Windows 7 installation DVD says to backup my files prior to installation. It does not specificly say to backup the files using the Windows backup and restore tool provided with Vista. I want to be sure... Can I backup my files using Vista's Backup and Restore and then "restore" or import them during the Windows 7 installation?
Recently installed Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Everything works fine except my Belkin F5D5005 v2000 network card.
There are no drivers for it on the Belkin site and none of the older vista drivers work.
Is there a list somewhere of NIC's that are compatible with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit since it looks like I'll need to buy a new one.
The on board network point on my motherboard works fine (realtek NIC on an Asus Fatality fp-in9 SLI mobo) but has been faulty for some time now.
Any advice?
