this is about windows 7 but it could also fit in the games or hardware section too. I'm trying to run a few games in the new windows 7 but I'm running into a problem. One or two are pretty old I mean early 2000's old and when I go to install them I get an error message saying that the programs are not compatible with windows 64 bit version. My question is-is there a way to make a non compatible program compatible with 64 bit windows? Is there some setting or drive that can be changed that can make these programs work or am I pretty much done?
I have downloaded a program called Diasend uploader for my son's insulin pump, it will not open and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no joy!The message always comes up : Diasend uploader has stopped working?Other people with windows 7 have downloaded and used no problem??I even downloaded on an old xp pc and it worked fine?? I also tried to copy the program onto a flash drive and still get the same message?
I just upgraded to windows 7 Ultimate to utilize the XP mode. I currently access a company thru a VPN client network on my 64 bit Windows. The company has changed some programs that are 32 bit which I have downloaded to XP. Will the 2 systems work together or will I need to access the company from the XP side? Also, is the remote desktop connection something that came with the upgrade?
Why does the Windows 7 compatibility center list this program as compatible with Windows 7 when it CLEARLY does not work with Windows 7 without serious effort? Then, Microsoft doesn't even post workarounds for how to make it work with Windows 7! I know this game is really really old but it is a Microsoft game so they should put some effort into keeping it alive, particularly since it is better than AOE III.I have successfully installed AOEII: Age of Kings and the expansion (conqueror's) and updated to patch 1.0C or whatever it is called. When I go to run conqueror's the splash screen comes up saying that it is loading, I hear the CD spin, and then 3-4 seconds later the CD spins down and the splash screen just hangs there for eternity. The game never runs. I've tried running in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode and as an administrator.
I installed Weathrbug Plus and for some odd reason recently when I run it Windows runs the installation for the program. When I run the prograsm I get the typical "Preparing to install..." abnd then tyhe 'Configuring Weatherbug. I've been in contact with Weatherbug Support all day and we can't seem to find an answer.I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials. This is a clean install of Windows 7. I haven't used any other real-time security software other than MSE.I disabled MSE and tried it and got the same results.
I've recently got back into playing System Shock 2 and I have been trying to set up my XBOX 360 controller to use . So far I do have my button configuration saved BUT,when I load to play SystemShcok 2 it doesn't recognize my XPadder set up? 1) Is Xdder compatible with Windows 7 and if so, 2) Maybe I just have the folder in the wrong place.
Photoshop and Dreamweaver are the programs I use the most often, but will all these programs work with Windows 7 at the CS2 version level, or do I need to upgrade?
I have Sonic ditalmedia v7 on my windows xp. If I upgrade to windows 7 will this software be compatible? If not is there a free CD and DVD copying software that is compatible ?
My copy of windows 7 came with IE9 and the installers offered for download on the site all tell me that it's incompatible. Is there a 64 bit Windows 7 download of IE8 somewhere (preferably hosted by microsoft) I could use?
I've recently found an old laptop in the back of my closet. It runs Windows '95 currently, and has some start-up problems (but isn't very slow once I get it to work). I'm not an expert at computers, but I can say that it's an IBM ThinkPad built around 1999, as it is the lowest year available in the time setup. I want to update it to Windows 7 so I could maybe give it purpose again. Currently, it tries to use dial-up connection, has no USB ports, but does have a CD drive. It came with an external floppy disc drive. I've searched around on Google for a day or two to see if this is even possible. From what I've seen, it's possible to jump from Windows 95 to Windows 7, but I don't know if anything about the computer itself can change that (e.g. the space on its hard drive, its lack of modern ports, its lack of wi-fi connection). I have a full copy of Windows 7 on the CD, and I can put a CD in the laptop itself, so I see no problem there. My major fear is that I'll try to put in the disc and it automatically erases everything on my hard drive or kill the computer because it's too much strain on an old system.
I just installed Windows 7 Pro 64bit onto my desktop pc, previously running Win XP Pro 32bit, my m/b is a GA-K8NF-9 ver2.2 amd Athlon 64 x2 4200 (2.21ghz)with 4 x 1gb ram, vga Gigabyte 8800 Ultra card.HDD Samsung 500gb, When I installed Win7 in device manager under "other devices" Multimedia audio, controller, video shows drivers are not installed, also for my belkin f5d5730 adsl usb/ethernet modem drivers are not installed. So I tried to reinstall original driver package from cd that came with m/board and win 7 didnt recognize them, also the same for the belkin modem.
i have DELL /optiplex 745 Core 2 Duo.I want to know is my PC compatible for Windows 7 64-bit or not? if yes then i have experienced it twice not being so.
I want to view a file made from an MS office publisher 2007 but I can't open since my OS is windows 7 starter. determine the right MS office that I must download that's compatible with my OS.
I understand that Outlook Express is not compatible with Widows 7 but is there an email program that is and as easy to use as Express? I don't need all of the bells & whistles that com with MIcrosoft Outlook. All I want is to be able to put in my multible emails and have them all download at the same time when I hit send/receive. Plus (the big plus) an Address Book that is as easy to use as Outlook Express to enter my 100 + names and to build a few groups.
Is MS Office 2000 compatible with Win7 32 bit? I have read that Outlook may have a problem but what about MS Word, Excel, and PP?Also, is a Win7 32 bit upgrade worthwhile (from XP) now that Win8 is in the pipeline?
After Upgrading my vista to windows 7 (32bit) some of my newer games have had issues with Fps i think. example in shooter games, the more i shoot the more fps drops until the game crashes and i didn't have this issue during vista.
Also other problem is that some resolutions don't work correctly anymore, example 1024x768 is now instead of fullscreen, size of an ipad
I am new to this so bear with me. I am running Windows 7 (64bit, Home Premium) and IE8 (new Acer PC in April '11). I am having compatability problems with sites I originally was able to access (not able to log on). Also, having moved from New England to SC, my wife and I would like to join Facebook to keep in touch with family. When I access the Facebook web page I am getting a message that I need to update my browser. I have tried IE9, Chrome, Navigator & Safari and continue to get the same response from Facebook. I have the same issue with other sites I was able to access previously (I recall reading somewhere that in June some of the "patch tuesday" fixes from MS might be troublsome).
A while ago, I upgraded to an SSD, and at the same time, I upgraded from my Win 7 Ultimat, 32-bit to the corresponding 64-bit. As I refuse to give up my Windows Natural Multimedia Keyboard, I did not install ITPx64_1033_8.0.225.0.exe (v. 8), because it does not accept PS1, which is the only connection on my keyboard. Note: I refuse to give up my keyboard because it is ergonomic, has multimedia keys, and is light gray?I have used ITPx86_1033_7.00.260.0.exe (v. 7) since then, and it has worked well. A while ago, it gave me problems, and I think I must have uninstalled it. When I am trying to reinstall, I get the error message "Setup cannot continue because this software is not supported on 64-bit operating systems."
