Jul 8, 2011I have a Dell Optiplex 745 (160 GB HD and 8 GB RAM) which originally came with Vista 32 bit preinstalled. I received Windows 7 Professional as a gift. i performed a full install on the machine. 7 runs fine on the machine except that the system freezes up after a few hours of operation. I updated all the drivers via reviversoft.com but the issues is still recurring.

Feb 2, 2012I have a Dell Optiplex GX620 and I'm still running Windows XP. I would like to upgrade my operating system to Windows 7. Will this PC run Windows 7 OS? My Dell PC has two hard drive bays; can I simply pick up a generic SATA hard drive on Amazon, along with a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium? Then connect the hard drive and install the new OS disk...? Do I have this right? Will this work? Or should I just ditch this old tower PC and shop for a brand new PC or laptop?

Feb 7, 2012I have a new Dell Optiplex 790 that I'm trying to install Windows 7 Enterprise onto. It installs no problem, but afterwards, after post, it will just display a blinking cursor. If I hit F12 during post to go to the One-Time Boot Menu, there is an option for "Windows Boot Manager" and if I choose this, it boots fine. I have tried multiple disks, multiple hard drives, updating the BIOS version, both ATA and AHCI configurations in the BIOS, and even multiple machines, all brand new 790s. This problem seems to be hit or miss, as Windows 7 will install fine on some and will cause this problem on others. Also, I have tried installing EasyBCD and there are some issues with that. It will not display an option for Windows 7, so the boot menu is completely blank. It won't let me add any entries there either.
