View 1 Replies View Relatedthis is about windows 7 but it could also fit in the games or hardware section too. I'm trying to run a few games in the new windows 7 but I'm running into a problem. One or two are pretty old I mean early 2000's old and when I go to install them I get an error message saying that the programs are not compatible with windows 64 bit version. My question is-is there a way to make a non compatible program compatible with 64 bit windows? Is there some setting or drive that can be changed that can make these programs work or am I pretty much done?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've recently found an old laptop in the back of my closet. It runs Windows '95 currently, and has some start-up problems (but isn't very slow once I get it to work). I'm not an expert at computers, but I can say that it's an IBM ThinkPad built around 1999, as it is the lowest year available in the time setup. I want to update it to Windows 7 so I could maybe give it purpose again. Currently, it tries to use dial-up connection, has no USB ports, but does have a CD drive. It came with an external floppy disc drive. I've searched around on Google for a day or two to see if this is even possible. From what I've seen, it's possible to jump from Windows 95 to Windows 7, but I don't know if anything about the computer itself can change that (e.g. the space on its hard drive, its lack of modern ports, its lack of wi-fi connection). I have a full copy of Windows 7 on the CD, and I can put a CD in the laptop itself, so I see no problem there. My major fear is that I'll try to put in the disc and it automatically erases everything on my hard drive or kill the computer because it's too much strain on an old system.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am new to this so bear with me. I am running Windows 7 (64bit, Home Premium) and IE8 (new Acer PC in April '11). I am having compatability problems with sites I originally was able to access (not able to log on). Also, having moved from New England to SC, my wife and I would like to join Facebook to keep in touch with family. When I access the Facebook web page I am getting a message that I need to update my browser. I have tried IE9, Chrome, Navigator & Safari and continue to get the same response from Facebook. I have the same issue with other sites I was able to access previously (I recall reading somewhere that in June some of the "patch tuesday" fixes from MS might be troublsome).

Note: I refuse to give up my keyboard because it is ergonomic, has multimedia keys, and is light gray?I have used ITPx86_1033_7.00.260.0.exe (v. 7) since then, and it has worked well. A while ago, it gave me problems, and I think I must have uninstalled it. When I am trying to reinstall, I get the error message "Setup cannot continue because this software is not supported on 64-bit operating systems."

And if yes is it necessary to upgrade to windows 64 bit? Because I've bought 4GB Ram memory and it is said that my windows version only uses 3GB of it.
my laptop config is:
CPU: Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T7250
Mainboard: Intel PM965
Currently Ram: 2 1GB DDR2 Rams and I want to upgrade to 2 2GB rams. (my mainboard has 2 slots)
P.S. I run Windows 7 upgrade Advisor tool and it seems there is no problem with upgrading to windows 7 64 bit and all of my drivers are recognized by it. I wonder is it really possible to have a 64 bit OS in 32 bit CPU?
