Incomplete Removal Of Installed Software (LibreOffice 3.3)
Oct 13, 2011
I thought I had properly removed a piece of software, LibreOffice 3.3, But the control panel says it is still there. When I try to uninstall it says it cannot find it. Also, Libreoffice 3.4 will not install because of this.

I have Win 7 installed and thats the only one I need. From what I see in the forum threads, in my case the MSCONFIG does not show 3 other previous versions of OS (1 XP, 1 incomplete installation XP and 1 DOS).I already tried from My Computer, Advanced Settings, Start Up and set to 0 the time elapsed to show other OS options at start up, but when I did it went directly to the incomplete installation of XP (instead of my default OS - Win 7)So, what I would like to know is that if I use the BCD software you recommed that will do the trick or if I need to try something else.

I am currently having issues with my system recovery for windows 7. I have a partition on my computer for system recovery to its original state. Some how there were some drivers that got deleted or something happened to make the computer only have limited access to the internet, my audio stopped working, as well as the usb ports would read the mouse and keyboard but would fight to recognize my external hard drives. So i figured I would do a system restore on the computer by simply hitting F8 and running it in safe mode as I couldnt use the backup feature due to what ever got deleted. It went through the restore process and then at the end (or what i would assume to me be the end) during the software install stage it will make it to what would appear to be 99% done and continuously try and load the last parts before it finishes and states that the recovery was incomplete. I have ran diagnostics on the computer hardware (F2) durring the start up and everything seems to pass just fine. Also when the System recovery incomplete tab comes up if i choose to see the log i can see the windows screen in the background as well as log onto the internet which I wasnt able to do before. So something was fixed in the process as i couldnt log onto the net before and now i can log into windows lol. Im stuck and could use some advice as to how to fix it

A few days ago the search function in the Start Menu stopped working. Following instructions on a post on this site, I changed the value of an HKEY (can't recall which one any more) and it started working again. However, the results are now always incomplete. For example, I might type "ABC .xls" in the Start Menu bar to search for an Excel file called ABC. The immediate search results would be empty. However, if I click "See More Results", a window opens in Explorer and the search returns a hit.Because the search function in Explorer works fine, I think the indexing function is working properly. However, I rebuilt it anyway and the results are the same. why the search in the Start Menu produces incomplete results

first of all i have a sony laptop with 7 ultimate 64bit, the problem started when i was using convertxtodvd (software) and watching Internet videos at the same time. i was watching online videos and had converxtodvd converting a video into dvd, (for maybe 15 mins?), then the computer suddenly frozed. i turned it off figure that maybe the laptop coundn't handle that much task. i turned it back on and probelms started to show, the explorer.exe started crashing every 5 to 8 mins after the computer starts up. i tweaked it a little bit, but i ended up with no success. so i decided to reboot the whole computer, but after the installation, i receive an error message just before i get to the preference screen (the screen where u choose your computer name and such) it states, "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encounter and unexpected error. windows installation cannot proceed. to install windows click "ok" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. but the thing is this error message appears every time and i never get to the preference screen.could it be that something is broken internally? maybe the memory is faulty? graphic card is faulty? damaged? because i also remember back that my lil brother hit the laptop (the keyboard part) a couple of times (pretty hard too).

In the act of trying to get my Velocity computer up and running (new P.S.U. and CDRom Drive) from a power spike at home I loaded 3 copies of Vista on the HD as I figgled with the BIOS boot order. To make a long story short: I was not able to get the system to boot and correctly complete the install of Vista and then Windows 7 (got a Windows upgrade disk with the machine years ago and had it, Win.7 running after the first week.). Now I have 3 incomplete installs of Vista sitting on the HD and I would like to get them off so I can make room for better things.

I have a GA B75M D3V (bios version F9), paired with Intel Core i5 3550 (Ivy Bridge), 2 x 4 GB Patriot Extreme DDR3 PC1600.Installed Windows 7 x64 Ultimate SP1 on it.Strange problem is, after using my computer for some time, perhaps an hour,or more, randomly, I can't completely shutdown my PC.After clicking shutdown on start menu, my PC react normal. But, after a while, the PC (case and everything inside it) like in stall state.and the monitor goes blank (no signal from the PC). So I have to press power button for 4 seconds to completely shut it down.

It's been a while, but I built my first PC a couple of months ago. So far everything works great. But now, My DVD drive doesn't show up in My Computer. I checked Device Manager, and I have an error for my driver. Here is the error:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
I have tried using Driver Fusion to wipe out all drivers and reinstall with no change. The drive shows up in BIOS so it's not a connection problem. I'd prefer not to reinstall the OS....

I don't see my optical drive on my computer window box. I uninstalled the driver for my optical drive and reinstalled it (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50F). I still do not see the optical drive listed. In the device status window, under the general tab of the device manager window, is shown this message:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
When I uninstall and allowed the computer to find the driver online, the same failure is shown. The computer window box still doesn't show my optical drive.

I am receiving a "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)None of my USB ports are working. I have tried to update driers, and modify the registry, but nothing seems to work. I don't have a way to get the information off my system, as none of the ports work, so I can't reset the machine to factory settings.

I have - quite stupidly, as I now think - installed Windows Seven on my old Vista on my Laptop without thinking about the Mail program at all. That is: neither did I make a backup nor did I export contact lists from Windows Mail, etc.
I was, however, able to import most of the stuff from Windows Mail into Windows Live Mail anyway. I took ownership of both Windows Mail folders (in C:Program Files and C:Program Files(x86) including subs 'n files, and tried the import function in Windows Live Mail - three times, I think.
I can't really tell whether or not all my messages are there, yet I can say for sure that what I find in the Storage Folders section in Windows Live Mail reproduces only a part of the filing system I had established in Windows Mail. That is to say: A lot of the folders I used to have in Windows Mail are simply missing. Are the messages that used to be in there missing, too? No idea so far... they might be in the Inbox or somewhere else.
To be sure, I have everything, that is: all my messages, on my webmail-account. Yet it took me forever to work out my huge filing system (including all the message rules, etc.) in Windows Mail which allows me to have more folders than my webmail account that is for some reason limited to 258 folders. So even although I know that in the end I do have all the messages on my webmail, I would just hate to have to do all that work again! Thus I'd just love to "simply" get my Webmail stuff imported as it was.
Any ideas what I might have done wrong? ...what I could do to retrieve the missing folders?
Alternatively: Is there any way to "simply" (I know what you're thinking...) reactivate Windows Mail in Windows 7 so that I can start over by properly exporting everything from there?
I have found some related topics but did not see anyone having this particular problem. If I simply overlooked it, sorry! At any rate: I'd appreciate any help you can offer!

Sometimes when I move a file to the recycle bin or to another location (drag and drop), the file has moved but the icon remains anchored in the original location and does not appear in the destination location. When I restart the computer, the files and icons appear in the destination location.
Similarly, when I download a file to the desktop, the icon does not appear untill I restart the computer.

In the process, my sound has completely gone. There is no symbol on the taskbar, and the pc doesn't seem to even recognise the speakers to be there, although i think it recognises the sound card. Briefly challenged this before when i had time, and tried to download a driver update/replacement, but this wouldn't work.Any ideas on how to get the sound back? (the same also happened to my webcam over a year ago, but im not so bothered about that, but the lack of sound is frustrating at the best of times)if s the original thread when i lost the sound, and you can see from my posts where i lost it.

I did some 'searching' and found a few posts about 'magnifier' but most were concerning it's use, how to exit out of it, etc. My question is how to stop it.
I've been to Ease of Access Center, and there is no checkmark in magnifier. A shortcut to it is listed in start menu and I located the app in C: drive. But I can find no way of 'executing the exe'. It is constantly popping up when I'm using anything on the desktop. This is a real nuisance for me though I'm sure many may need it.

I'm going to purchase a new laptop soon and had a general question regarding the legality of Windows 7 upgrade version. Basically, the second I get the new laptop home I will be formatting the HDD with the "clean all" command. Regardless of the OS already installed, can I "legally" install Windows 7 upgrade on this PC using the registry and command line hack? I want a brand new laptop with a clean, fresh start, with 0 crapware. I am willing to purchase the laptop and new OS. Deleting bloatware on an already installed OS is not an option.

I did have the following setup, on a single drive, two partitions:
345GB: Windows XP (installed first)
120GB: Windows 7
I've made a slight mistake – I've deleted the partition which hosted the MBR for my dual boot setup.
Basically, I have a single hard drive split into two partitions. I thought that I was thoroughly satisfied with Windows 7, so I decided to delete the partition which XP was sitting on. Little did I realise/remember at the time, but the XP partition held all the boot information, thus rendering my newly formed single partition unbootable. I booted GParted to ensure that my partition was intact, and it showed the following:
/dev/sda1 Extended 465GB LBA
/dev/sda5 NTFS 465GB Boot
(I manually flagged /dev/sda5 as 'boot')
This all appeared normal to me, so I put my Windows 7 disc in and attempted the various repair options. In my experience (with XP), FIXMBR from the command prompt usually fixes the issue, in this situation it hasn't. I've also tried 'BootRec.exe /fixmbr' & 'BootRec.exe /fixboot'. None of which seem to work.
My last attempt at fixing this was using the 'Startup repair' option on the Windows 7 disc. This hasn't worked either.
Can someone perhaps kindly offer me a solution? I'd rather not reinstall Windows.

When I opened up the Control Panel, I noticed that there was Adobe Flash 32-Bit there, yet I could not remove it (elusive) nor could I find it in my Revo Uninstaller list or under Remove Programs.or under regedit (Run) under the Software categories. Is there any way for me to track down this 32-bit program .and any other 32-bit programs that SHOULDN'T be in my PC and remove them?

I was searching pictures with Google and accidentally got directed to the not-so-secure site that showed a pop-up window saying something about that "rogue" MS Removal Tool program. Pop-up had only OK button and close function at the top corner. After considering I didn't press neither and closed Google Chrome using task manager. I restarted my computer several times to determine to if I got the infection, but apparently I dodged the bullet this time.Is it possible for MS Removal Tool to install itself using only pop-up or does it require install before it can activate itself and wreck havoc?

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate?I ran ESet security and it found and deleted two infections in Appdata/roaming - (I noted that it was reading trial mode at the bottom of the windows screen which I never noticed before but at least that was when it was still functioning. I restarted the computer, was welcomed by the Asus menu screen first and then when it goes to load windows, it says "loading windows files" and then goes to the automatic repair feature. It says corrupt file in problem details and proceeds to conclude that it can't fix it. In the advanced features, I have tried the startup repair with no luck, the system restore with no luck - tried all restore points listed and after many many 30 min intervals, it comes back that it cannot restore to the previous state. There are no disk images and no memory problems. Command Prompt will run (although one time it did not and simply shut down). I booted from DVD and tried repair from that with no more luck than before, however, did find it strange that when it looked for the windows installation it found one called windows and one called Microsoft Windows - same partition size, all details the same, not sure what's up with that.
I followed the info under Windows cannot start/.exe files cannot run forum up until ubunto is concerned something about the cd and usb running I can get it to make the mbr.bin file but can't get it to recognize the usb to put it on to check it out or the balance of what's next? Also, at the Automatic System repair it reads:
Startuprepairoffline
6.1.7600.16385
6.1.7600.16385
unknown
212009913
autofailover
13
corruptfile
1033 locale 1D
It doesn't identify an actual corrupt file name it says it can't determine the root of the problem.Tried to run Windows 7 upgrade from the disk but because I'm not in windows that won't work and also because I'm running SP1 and I don't have the disk for SP1.I've downloaded Unetbootin and Ubontu but don't know how to work them to get things fixed I've also tried unloading the windows update cache but still nothing because prior to this problem it was failing on all windows updates and have noticed other people comment that that was their problem - still no luck.
