It happens if the computer has been running for hours or only a couple of minutes. I have to shut the PC off and leave it off for 20-30 minutes. I can then restart and enter any user account. But if I try to switch user or logoff and pick a different user the whole cycle begins anew.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to schedule an automatic logon for a certain time of day in Windows 7? I would like to schedule my computer to start up, login, run backup, and shutdown in the middle of the night once a month. So far, I know how to schedule a power-on using the BIOS, but I don't think backup will run if you're not logged in. I don't want to bypass the password protection all together....just when I want an automatic backup.

Now I have been diagnosing my pc for some time now the latest problem has been automatic restarts very frequently. This problem raised while I was reinstalling the thermal paste of my gpu and fan. It did go well and the temps dropped to 45 c in idle but a new problem started, reboots. I tried these things till now:
- Clean boot
- Safe mode works fine (mostly)
- Run it with 1 stick and 2 sticks of ram
- Resetting the bios
- Start up repairs
For the moment, safe mode is working but normal mode wont start. As the windows logo comes, it shuts down altogether and restarts again and so on. I tried disabling automatic restart and got a bsod once.
Error was : 0x0bad0020
I cannot open the start menu or open any downloads. When I click on any of these the screen flashes blue then goes away. At times it flashs and opens a little window and ask me to type in the folder name where I want to put the download. I cannot open system restore until I go through the help menu and it gives me the link. I can open the icons on the desktop. I use Internet Explorer for my browser but, it does this no matter which browser I use. I have Windows 7 64 bit Dell Inspiron.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI will start by saying I built the machine myself and originally I thought it was a ram stick, found one that I took out and the freezing stopped but it was the coincidence. It will freeze sometimes within 5 minutes or 1 hour. It is seemingly random. It will freeze with the full 16gb of ram and when i take out the stick with 12gb as well, and I figure its not the ram anymore and thats why I turn to you. I think it may be a software bug or something thats not installed.I have tried to install all the drivers that are out and the freezing happens sometimes when i go to install a program, download a driver, download a torrent, it seems during processes it just stops, screen locks up and it needs to be re-booted.Cant alt-tab, cant alt+ctrl+del or anything. Is there a program I can run to check everything? or a log or screenshots of a file or anything that you guys could use to diagnose? I'll get you anything you need, its frustrating that such a beautiful machine is freezing Also another thing that makes me think that its software rather than hardware is the fact that when i try to install windows updates they fail with an error 800B0100 and I have tried resetting the updater and running Microsoft tools and troubleshooters, nothings working[CODE]

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the past month, every time windows update automatically reboots my computer to finish the updating process, the computer shuts down, fades to black, but then something curious happens. Instead of the BIOS coming up, the screen remains black, and every single fan in my system (GPU, CPU, and 3 other case fans) spin up to full speed and remain there, with the pc never rebooting. I thought this was a BIOS issue, so I updated my BIOS, but this did not fix the issue. All my drivers are updated, and there are no yellow exclamation marks beside any items in Device Manager. My system is running 64 Bit Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1.

After running it's tests I'm told microsoft cannot fix this do I want to send the information to MS - (with no internet). I've tried inserting the program cd but no restore points are found and no repair can be completed. Nor are there any backups. Is there a way to run the install -I have an OEM version- as a repair so I don't lose any data?
