how to switch C/: after downloading windows7 OS to their BIG drive E/ for all other downloads?how to do this or they are completely wrong and messes up one's computer! Has anyone EVERY successfully switched from using their SSD for downloading Windows 7 OS then USE THEIR BIG DRIVE for all other downloads/installations?
a friend is trying to download a big file from an ftp program to his pc, unfortunately it keeps downloading to his 30G partition that only has windows on it instead of the 1TB drive he's designated for download. The question is, how can he ensure that windows will download ftp files to his 1TB with plenty of room instead of downloading it to his Windows 7 partition drive? He says that Windows creates a ghost temp file of what he's downloading on the 30G and thats why he's having this issue..
So I have a 64GB SSD that is too full to do an iPhone update... decided to get a 128GB SSD.I have DriveImage XML, to copy a complete image of the C drive onto the new, larger drive. Now I have both drives plugged in, have initialized the new drive... But to create a 'simple volume' under disk management, I have to pick a drive letter. The issue is that I want the new drive to replace the C drive, but 'C' isn't available as an option. So, what do I do?Do I create a volume with, say, letter J? Then copy over the image... then unplug the old C drive and plug the J drive into the same cables? And then reassign the J drive as C? Or how can I boot onto the new drive?
Im running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and am having an issue with downloading a file and saving it on specfic hard drive on my computer. Whenever i try to download ANYTHING onto this specific hard drive it keeps giving me "A Required Privilage Is Not Held By This Client". I've tried to go through properties on the hard drive and allow myself to get full control of the hard drive, but that still doesnt work.
Whenever I switch user accounts the computer will start the switch and then lock up with a display message that says no signal on the monitor. It happens if the computer has been running for hours or only a couple of minutes. I have to shut the PC off and leave it off for 20-30 minutes. I can then restart and enter any user account. But if I try to switch user or logoff and pick a different user the whole cycle begins anew.
My hard drive is slowing down the preformace of my computer. The hard drive gets a 5.9 rating in windows 7 performance ratings. I would like to switch out to a newer hard drive possibly Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB WD1002FAEX. I do have an external backup drive
We have two disks in raid 0. We want to get rid of them, as they are failing and install a single hard drive with Windows 7. We currently have Vista installed. There are no files I need to copy, just want to start with a fresh operating system. How do I go about this? Can I just remove the old hard drives and replace with the single hard drive and install Windows 7 on it, or is it more complicated than that?
I use windows 7.When I turn on laptop (acer Aspire 5742) cannot connect to internet until I switch user and log in again. Soon as I touch any browser icon the rest of computer stops responding as well. It's only me on computer. Have virgin media security/ spyware/ virus protection. Tried CCleaner. After I switch user everything is fine.Additional info; On 16th October had great difficulty getting my emails from Yahoo. Sometimes sign-in box appeared without my security signature and different style of writing for browser remembered log-on details.
I have windows-7 and I went on the "JPL small body data base" site and to use one of the features I would have to download some active-x software. When I ok this to download I get a message that says that windows has blocked it because they don't know them. Is there any way to let me make the decisions instead of windows?
I am trying to download the ISO files of win 7 ultimate ect without having to use torrent.I have found this site listing them all with direct download links..Is this a trust worthy site? and how do I verify that they havent been modified compared to ones at msdn?(by the way, I'm not trying to download them for illegal reasons, Its because I no longer have the CD's but do have legit product keys
After installing a trial version of AutoCad Inventor, ( Win7 Ult 64-bit > Dell Precision T5400) I find that I am not not allowed to download anything. I did turn off Windows firewall and defender and anti-virus as advised when downloading, changed the UAC (User Account Control), but when trying to download the new version of Firefox it stops with "you don't not have sufficient rights to allow this" to thereabouts.
I've gone through every security and administrator setting I can, in System, msconfig, and so on. I've restarted, shut down, "changed user"- whatever I can think of.
I cannot open the start menu or open any downloads. When I click on any of these the screen flashes blue then goes away. At times it flashs and opens a little window and ask me to type in the folder name where I want to put the download. I cannot open system restore until I go through the help menu and it gives me the link. I can open the icons on the desktop. I use Internet Explorer for my browser but, it does this no matter which browser I use. I have Windows 7 64 bit Dell Inspiron.
I will start by saying I built the machine myself and originally I thought it was a ram stick, found one that I took out and the freezing stopped but it was the coincidence. It will freeze sometimes within 5 minutes or 1 hour. It is seemingly random. It will freeze with the full 16gb of ram and when i take out the stick with 12gb as well, and I figure its not the ram anymore and thats why I turn to you. I think it may be a software bug or something thats not installed.I have tried to install all the drivers that are out and the freezing happens sometimes when i go to install a program, download a driver, download a torrent, it seems during processes it just stops, screen locks up and it needs to be re-booted.Cant alt-tab, cant alt+ctrl+del or anything. Is there a program I can run to check everything? or a log or screenshots of a file or anything that you guys could use to diagnose? I'll get you anything you need, its frustrating that such a beautiful machine is freezing Also another thing that makes me think that its software rather than hardware is the fact that when i try to install windows updates they fail with an error 800B0100 and I have tried resetting the updater and running Microsoft tools and troubleshooters, nothings working[CODE]
I just got a new desktop computer, and I downloaded windows 7 64 bit home premium. when the download completed and it restarted a screen popped up asking for country/date/time, and now the computer is frozen. Is it okay to restart right now? They said not to restart during the setup process at the very beginning, but i don't know what to do, it's been like this for 15minutes. And i believe all the setup is done, once it restarted it just went straight to asking me about the time.
oh, and also i used custom installation becauuse the express one wouldn't work, saying i couldn't switch from 32 bit to 64 bit. dunno if this is relevant, but just thought i'd say.
When I select updates to download it starts preparing for download, but does not download. Said something about internet connectivity. I have no problems with the internet, updates for programs regularly download, etc..On the failed downloads the error messages are: Codes: 643, 57, C355, 9. Updates either do not start to download at all or after about 20 minutes of preparing to download they will download and then fail.
my system is having a very high unstability. I've tried everything I can to make it more stable, yet I am falling into BSODs very often.I am running a Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate edition.I've finally decided to format my HDD in order to destroy all the previous data and start from a fresh table. My problem is the following:I have the serial key for this OS, yet I have lost the media. Is it anyhow possible for me to download the OS and burn it into a bootable DVD?I tried to search from MS store, but they all force me to pay for a new OS.. can not find an option to download the file.
