i was trying to find out on the net how to format my old xbox 360 hdd for pc since i can't use it anyways because i got the new xbox that doesn't use those anymore so i stumbled across a thread showing how to do it and i thought i would explain how to do this so you can use it as a normal external HDD.first what you need is a xbox hdd and a xbox 360 hard drive transfer cable
1.download a tool called Hard Disk Low Level Format Tool link: [URL]
2.once you install that start the hard disk low level format tool and select your xbox 360 HDD?
3.click the tab called low-level format?
4.Then click "format this device" and wait a while for it to finish formatting the xbox hdd?
5.When its finished formatting go to your windows start menu right click on computer and choose manage?
6.click on the tab called disk management and there should be your xbox hdd but un-formated so your going to have to make it NTFS format and right click on it and make a new simple volume. If it does not allow you to make a new simple volume then right click were it says disk on the side like for example disk1 depending how many HDD's your pc has and choose convert to GPT disk, mines already formatted should look similar just without the NTFS and custom named hdd?
7.once that is done it should make your xbox HDD usable on your pc like any normal pc HDD ?
Yesterday on my Advent Quantum Q200 Laptop I got a message while starting it up saying 'Windows failed to start A recent hardware or software change might be the cause' I haven't done anything like downloading or anything, it was working fine the day before.I've clicked everything and it just won't do anything.
From the 'Repair Computer' option it gives me a little menu, which again I've tried everything.
'Start Microsoft Windows Repair Enviroment' - Nothing happens for 5 mins then it freezes
'Reinstall Windows' - Brings me too 2 Restore options, the first one which Saves all my personal documents Also does nothing then Freezes, the second option which is removes Everything on the hard drive does this; It Brings me to a screen saying this process will take 30 mins to an hour to complete. It has 5 steps, I left.It on for 14 hours and it was still at step 1 looking like no progress had happened.
I have a HP Pavilion with Windows 7 Premium 64, and have my computer back up daily, with weekly system image back ups using the Windows back up utility. This backs up to a DLink DNS 323 network storage device. Last Friday my hard drive failed, and I didn't feel too bad becuase of my back ups. Yesterday after replacing the hard drive I tried using the System Repair Disc to restore the System Image, but couldn't locate anything on the network to restore. I checked with DLink support and they said this is a Windows issue. Hoping I can get some ideas how to proceed and get my data on the new hard drive. THe DLink site suggested that I try everything out before I need it to make sure it all works as planned. I would have no idea how to try out the System Repair Disc and restore the System Image without having a blank hard drive or jeopardizing the data on my current drive.
With my Windows 7 Pro 32bit laptop(fully updated) I have issues with copy and paste. When I copy text from a file/document and then paste it into another file/document I have one of three things happen. One it will copy the text correctly, though if I press enter to go to a new line its as if the clipboard was emptied because I cannot paste again, two it will not paste anything as if I didn't copy before, or three it will paste a screenshot of what is currently on my screen into the document. If it does copy and paste correctly then when I open a new file or folder, the clipboard will empty so I can't paste the same thing into two different documents unless both documents were open when I fist copied the text. This issue also occurs whe trying to copy/cut files and move them to a new/different directory(if the paste location is not already open then the clipboard appears to empty).
If I use a commercial software like Drive Scrubber to clean my HD, will a Win 7 Upgrade Discboot ? I want to eliminate any possible virus/malware. Is there any advantage to using commercial software to format, or is the reinstall format listed in the tutorials as effective? My concern is that Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 (KIS) had corrupted data bases and after removal and reinstallation did not perform well. I could not download anything, e.g. CCleaner and received Certificate Error questions on certain websites. Also, I would like a fresh registry to insure previous programs like Chrome, Firefox, KIS, remnants are eliminated.

I am giving Fedora (Ext4) the boot from my 150G VelociRaptor and replacing it with Windows 7.What is the difference between a 'Quick' format and a 'Full' format. Does a quick format simply rewrite the FAT and a full format write 0's to the sectors? The reason I ask, is that I am concerned that the Linux Ext4 formatting may leave artifacts which I can do without. So, bite the bullet and go the long route, have lunch and a nap or take the quick way out?
I have a Dell Inspiron 15. I can run Oblivion on my computer, but I can't run Fallout 3. It installs fine, but when I get to the starting menu and try to start a new game, it crashes.
I am using Windows 7 and find new windows open behind my current window. For example, if I am in Outlook and click 'New', the new mail window opens behind the main Outlook window. Also, I do not think the issue is specific to Outlook but I cant repeat it consistently enough with any other application to be sure.
I'm new to windows 7 - which I don't like. Also don't like new laptop but I'm stuck with it till I can save for something else. I wanted to change the default font on the desktop. And after looking around found that you can change the font type by going to personalize, colors, advance. You can't change the desktop font but you can change it for different areas such as the start menu and desktop icons. So I changed the font style to Arial Black for both. But I don't like it. It's too large. But now I cannot seem to restore it back to it's original settings. Can someone tell me how to restore the settings back to default?
