today i format my sata hdd and try to install windows 7 from my hp 635 and all going well. when i plug the hdd to emachines doesnt boot windows and freeze before start up logo.....
I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Proffecional 64bit on my computer. I was having several problems prior to doing so including explorer.exe crashing on startup, very slow start up, and my recovery drive was repeatedly reformatted to a RAW partition. All these problems got resolved with a reinstall but were replaced by a new problem.
The reinstall I used left my personal files and programs intact. Now whenever I run a game, any game I run into the same problem. What happens is the game starts up fine with no problems, but when I perform certain actions (e.g. Battlefield 3 if I fire my weapon it will trigger a freeze, Arkham City throwing a punch or using a gadget will trigger a freeze etc) the game will freeze up but the sound will continue playing. I can use Ctrl, Alt,Delete to start up the task manager and end the process. This closes the game but the process hangs as it is and cannot be stopped, even though the computer carries on functioning fine. I can even start a different game but the difference is the game wont crash or freeze anymore. It seems as through if one game crashes it somehow stops it happening again to other games.
On a side note I do not get any errors if I disable Windows Audio Service in MSConfig for start-up services. The fixes I have tried include: Running in safemode for Windows 7 and for individual games Running the games in DX9, DX10, DX10.1 and DX11 Running with CPU overclocked and without overclocking Running with GPU overclocked and without overclocking I have tried increasing Virtual Memory (currently at 50GB)I have tried a few specific fixes for individual games I have also tried with Crossfire enabled and disabled Updating all drivers, Updating the BIOS and Installing Win 7 updates
I tried all these fixes to no avail, the only thing that resolved the issue was disabling the Windows Audio Service, however this leaves me with no sound at all. I have no idea what do try next or what could be causing the problem and I need help. At this point I am willing to try just about anything.

I just got Windows 7 Pro plus a new machine and I am trying to install Windows 7 but it keeps hanging at Starting Windows when I go to install. Sometimes I see artifacts when it freezes and sometimes I just freezes. Any idea what is going on?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIntermittently, I have a problem where the boot up sequence freezes at the Starting Windows logo/screen. I then have to restart the PC, and the only way to get a clean start-up is if I go into the BIOS, and Save Changes and Reset (even if I don't make any changes). The PC might work then for another 1 or 20 boots before the problem recurs again. If I don't go into the BIOS and Save/Reset then it simply refreezes each time. Have launched start-up repair but it always says it can't repair anything. Have spoken many times with the retailer and changed a few overclock settings / voltages etc. etc. but no lasting improvement. what could be causing such an intermittent fault - and one cured for the next restart by entering/exiting the BIOS?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a small network of six computers. Five of them run XP and I just added a Windows 7 machine. I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am on a 640 GB western digital HDD running Windows 7 Professional.
The symptom is that the computer RANDOMLY - no pattern to the freezing whatsoever- freezes. During this time, whatever sound was playing will stutter for a while, the screen will remain frozen with the image that was last on it. Their is no keyboard response, numlock etc... or mouse response.
Upon restarting, the event log has no recollection of what caused the issue. I have checked, many, many times, over the course of 3 weeks now. The only error it contains is the one stating that the computer unexpectedly shut down. Nothing else is pertinent.
I have all the latest drivers, for everything, BIOS updates, etc... as well as windows updates.
On top of that, i have reformatted my computer, and the problem still persists, but here's the kicker:
On a secondary drive, running windows XP professional 64 bit, the computer works just fine, never freezes at all, so i doubt its any hardware component, i have left it on for days to test this, and it still functions properly.

I am doing a clean install, Windows 7 from XP.Like many here I can get to the completing installation point before the installation freezes. It seems to be going well then it re-boots, at this point the display is a smaller format and the cusor freezes and the installation haults.I suspect that the graphics card might be the problem, GenForce 9800GTX.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently replaced all the parts in my computer except for the graphics card. So now that I have a practically new computer, I tried installing Windows 7. I have the Windows 7 Pro 64-bit DVD that I purchased at student pricing. My motherboard posts, and I can go into bios without any problems at all. Even my ram, which I only have 1 stick installed, is good. But when I pop in the Win7 DVD, it goes through the bars, then freezes at the animated logo with Starting Windows.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI put together a new system last night and proceeded to install Win 7 64-bit and all was well. It's a legit retail copy of the Win 7 upgrade disk bought from Amazon. After a handful of restarts (Windows updates, driver updates, etc) the computer decided to freeze at the Windows welcome screen (black screen w/Windows logo). I tried booting in safe mode and had no issues. I tried reverting to a previous save state prior to the freeze issues, but that didn't change anything. Safe mode continued to work.
I decided to attempt re-installing. Now I can't even get a working install. Windows 7 installs and then restarts. I get the welcome screen and then it goes to a screen where it's starting services, but then it just freezes. I've tried installing multiple times with the same results. Based on some digging in other threads I've tried:

I Have Recently Done a Clean Install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Retail. I have literally tried everything but just do not understand why i Have A complete Freeze at Random Times( This freeze will have everything on the screen completely frozen and the mouse will move for maybe five seconds before also freezing.) Windows 7 Runs Good in Safe Mode So it has to be a driver is what i am thinking but i have no idea which one. I have updated the Display Driver numerous times. I tried Running the Display Driver that is there after the clean install, Which it froze still, I downloaded from Windows update, it Froze, I updated from Ati, It also froze. Like i said before I have also have ran in a virtual environment where it ran problem free with no freezes. I am completely stumped on this one. I have even look at the event viewer nothing really stands out before the critical Kernal Power error.
I have also tried a registry cleaner and cleaned the registry that was the last thing i tried and still froze moments later also. I read on other forums that it could be the wireless but i have disabled the wireless device as i dont even use the wireless. My computer is a Homebuilt computer ASuS motherboard, AMD Quadcore, ATI Radeon 4800 series... I am positve it cannot be the RAM or anything like that because I run Vista Home Premium x64 flawlessly and have since i downloaded it. So I know It got to be some kind of compatibility issue i just have no idea where to start.
I have an HP desktop with windows 7 ultimate on it. I just installed the Adobe master collection about a week ago. It was running fine until 2 days ago, it will freeze up and I can't open any browser, email or reboot. I have to do a hard shut down and then it works okay for a while and will freeze again.

View 9 Replies View RelatedLittle background: computer was working like a charm on Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bits. A week ago, I started to have BSOD everytime I left the computer for around 10/15 minutes. I updated a lot of drivers etc.. then I formatted my C:/ and reinstalled Windows (still 7 ultimate x64 )So fresh install, antivirus scan is ok, graphic drivers updated, all windows updates done, I even updated the firmware of my SSD (Crucial 64Go) on which Windows is installed and flashed my bios to the latest version. Now, still after a while, my computer "semi-freezes" : depending of my use at the time, a video playing will stop, a browser will stay on the page but won't open new pages and a click on a folder of my Desktop will open a blank folder. I can't Ctrl+Alt+Suppr either.

my windows 7 seems to completely freeze up every thing was working fine until just recently. the mouse is moveable but nothing responds, and goes not responding. i ran memtest on my ram and came up with some errors so proceed to test each stick on its own the first came up with errors the other 3 did not. I retested the first stick and it has gone through like 7 passes now and no errors this time. so i am lost as to what to do now. when testing the sticks separately they were all tested in the same port. could it be my hard drive dieing? or maybe the mother board or cpu?
