Boot Up Problem In Dual Boot (win7 And OSx86)
Sep 24, 2009I was having win 7 RTM and i tried to installl OSx86 in second hard disk
after few failure i successfully installed OSx86 in my secondary had disk now the problem is that i cant boot win 7
i changed boot order i tried windows 7 disk repair
but both failed
im getting some Boot mldr missing...
Actually even OSx86 is not booting i get OSx86 boot screen with two hard disk to select if i select windows disk it still says the same Boot mldr missing.

Nov 3, 2009I bought a new Toshiba laptop (L300-1DN) for someone this year and they have Vista SP2 on it (obviously fully included with Toshiba drivers etc. which are also on a recovery disk). There is an option to buy an upgrade version for Vista users of Win 7 HP, but I have already bought a full version of Win 7 Pro, and my preference is a clean install as I'm not too sure about the success rate of upgrades and efficiency of the new operating system afterwards...
Therefore if I do a clean install of Win 7 Pro, what's the situation regarding drivers? I was told that Win 7 has many manufacturers' drivers built into it's kernel and that any manual update of drivers should be minimal?
Install On Toshiba L300-1DN
Dec 6, 2009I will have the chance to move a Toshiba Satellite L300-1DN from Vista HP (pre-installed) to Windows 7 Pro (clean install).
Am in two minds about this and would like to see significantly less CPU use to make it worth it otherwise I will save my disk for another project.
Also has anyone had experience of clean installs of Windows 7 on Toshiba laptops with Vista on them and are there any functionality problems to watch out for in this process?

Apr 26, 2011I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop, originally installed with Vista and Win-7 capable (manufacturer site checked), but currently installed with Ubuntu. My installation gets stuck on expanding files - it goes no further than 0% and then throws up error 0x80070017. clean the main partition (not the 100MB one created by the CD) with the Clean ALL command on the X: drive. Nov 17, 2009Im currently setting it up and everything was going smoothly until it finished. It rebooted, started up and then started 'Configuring System' this finished then rebooted. Then did the same thing, then it did it again. Now its frozen on the 'Configuring System' screen.

After downloading and installing Windows7 Upgrade Advisor on said machine, I am unable to get program to run to completion and generate a report to determine what components need attention (have run for as long as 3-hours). Have executed same application on other XP based machines with no problems. Any assistance / suggestions would be appreciated.

However, I keep getting these messages about counterfeit software and I cannot accept any Windows Updates without a key. I have a valid copy of XP w/service pak 3 with a key that I'd like to install on this laptop. I did not get a disc with this laptop but it is my understanding that he formatted this by "installing factory defaults." I don't know all this computer language so I'd like some simple instructions. And no, I can't go back to my "friend" to get this problem fixed. Also, the XP disc I have was used on a desktop. Do I need a specific "laptop disc" of XP or does that matter?

Sep 3, 2010I bought a Toshiba Satellite L500-20Z, and it does not tell me which version I am running, ( 32or64 ) though I know it IS x64. The in-store shpeil said it was equipped with Win 7 Home premium 64bit, with 32bit recovery partition.
Question 1 - is there any way to tell between 32 or 64 (apart from a "Program Files (x64)" folder on my C: drive), and
Question 2 - how do I tell what build I have? (the above link says nothing)
Question 3 - how to tell if the recovery is 64 and not just 32 without wiping my existing install?
(I suppose I could take an image of my current C: drive and use that instead of the recovery partition if disaster strikes.... only trouble is with OEM theres so much bloat and crap that's incluided...)

Dec 3, 2012Just finished talking to a Toshiba tech support person. I called because my six-week-old Toshiba Satellite L745 laptop has developed a problem: there is a slight delay between keyboard commands and their execution in every program I use regularly (Word, Outlook, Quicken, etc.). For example: I'm in Microsoft Outlook and I double-click on the name of a saved task. Instead of opening instantaneously (as happens on my desktop, which has a slower processor, less memory, and a smaller hard drive), I get the hourglass for a second or two before the task opens. Or else a dialog box appears asking whether I want to archive my old items in Outlook and when I click the No button, the dialog box lingers there for a second before closing.
Toshiba says this is an issue they've experienced and it is caused by Windows and other "third-party" updates using up system resources. I should not accept or install those updates! They want me to perform an entire reinstall of Windows 7 Home Premium and never allow another update.So (1) if the problem is the Windows (and other) updates, then why am I not having the same problem on my desktop computer (running Vista, but accommodating updates with no problem) and (2) if all these updates are not really necessary (according to Toshiba), then why do companies keep producing them?It has taken me weeks to get this laptop customized and configured with the programs and content I need to use on it. If what this tech support person tells me is true, then will I have this problem on any computer I buy that runs Windows 7?

I have just treated myself to the Windows ultimate 64 bit (i did have vista 32 bit) and i love it but im a stickler for things not working and it drives me nuts!
1) The windows Media remote isnt working, i think this maybe due to the fact ive gone from 32 bit to 64 bit and im probably just needing a driver? not too sure to be honest, any ideas? apparently its called a "CIR device driver" or am i way off mark here? cant seem to find the driver online anywhere!
2) Toshiba flash cards are not working also, not that i use them that much but it still bugs the hell outta me! any thoughts?
P.S I have managed to get most stuff working in 64 bit including the SD card reader and built in web cam so let me know if can help you with any other stuff your stuck with.
Toshiba Upgrade To W7
Nov 17, 2009We purchased a new laptop after June 26, which gave us information on qualifying for the Windows 7 upgrade when it became available. Well It didn't say FREE, but to qualify you have to have bought between certain dates, show computer info. Show receipts answer yards of question.. Jump hoops.. An no where does it list a price, or ask you to send credit card info, not in email, snailmail, fax etc..
I just got email back asking for my credit card...
We thank you for all the information that you sent to us. However, there is an instance wherein we also need to collect your credit card information in order for us to complete your request for a Windows 7 upgrade kit.
Does not say how much they plan to charge my card.. Have any of you done the toshiba upgrade??
