Fresh Install Windows 7 On Toshiba Satellite - Not Even Check For Updates

I just performed a fresh reinstall on toshiba satellite c665 with windows 7, all seemed smooth, however it will not even check for updates.. I go to windows update and it says "windows update cannot check for updates because service is not running, you may need to restart your computer".. So I made sure all update services / module were started, and even tried the "fix it update program" still same error.. This never happened to me before.. I'm stuck.

I do a fresh install of Windows 7 and I have purchased a new hard drive as well as tried it on 2 others. After I do the install odd things happen like long pauses when opening windows like control panel, IE and others. The real trouble begins win I reboot the Pc it then runs a check disk and finds and removes errors. Each time it reboots, check disk and loads windows it takes longer and longer until windows will not boot. I've tried loading all the drivers and none of them. I loading Windows 7 via the disk.

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop, originally installed with Vista and Win-7 capable (manufacturer site checked), but currently installed with Ubuntu. My installation gets stuck on expanding files - it goes no further than 0% and then throws up error 0x80070017. clean the main partition (not the 100MB one created by the CD) with the Clean ALL command on the X: drive. Karlsnooks, I see that you have the same laptop.

For a while now I have been experiencing a strange problem. My laptop keeps changing the Windows Updates without my consent. I know this has been raised in the past but my problem is slightly different.I prefer to choose "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download or install them", however periodically the settings change without my consent to "Never check for updates".This is very frustrating as I am constantly having to keep an eye on this, and change the settings back to what they were in order to receive critical updates, or indeed any other update.The laptop was bought new just under 12 months ago and came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit pre-installed.Has anyone else experienced this, or can anyone advise on a fix?

Im currently setting it up and everything was going smoothly until it finished. It rebooted, started up and then started 'Configuring System' this finished then rebooted. Then did the same thing, then it did it again. Now its frozen on the 'Configuring System' screen.
I have a Toshiba Satellite a500 laptop. It's OS is Windows 7 - x64
Anyone know why/what to do?

Tryin to check for updates and it says no updates are available when I know there is because I don't even have SP1 on here yet (Just got it out of box) It installed updates, once, but now will not properly search when I ask it to "check for updates" it just lets the bar scroll once "checking for updattes" then says "no important updates are available.. I turned firewall off, still no luck..

Just finished talking to a Toshiba tech support person. I called because my six-week-old Toshiba Satellite L745 laptop has developed a problem: there is a slight delay between keyboard commands and their execution in every program I use regularly (Word, Outlook, Quicken, etc.). For example: I'm in Microsoft Outlook and I double-click on the name of a saved task. Instead of opening instantaneously (as happens on my desktop, which has a slower processor, less memory, and a smaller hard drive), I get the hourglass for a second or two before the task opens. Or else a dialog box appears asking whether I want to archive my old items in Outlook and when I click the No button, the dialog box lingers there for a second before closing.
Toshiba says this is an issue they've experienced and it is caused by Windows and other "third-party" updates using up system resources. I should not accept or install those updates! They want me to perform an entire reinstall of Windows 7 Home Premium and never allow another update.So (1) if the problem is the Windows (and other) updates, then why am I not having the same problem on my desktop computer (running Vista, but accommodating updates with no problem) and (2) if all these updates are not really necessary (according to Toshiba), then why do companies keep producing them?It has taken me weeks to get this laptop customized and configured with the programs and content I need to use on it. If what this tech support person tells me is true, then will I have this problem on any computer I buy that runs Windows 7?

It appears to be solved, however Windows Update does not work. I get the message "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer." Needless to say, the restarts do not help. I also tried installing Windows Essentials for virus protection which could not receive updates. I have since uninstalled an am using Clamwin for virus protection.

Back when Windows 7 came out, I shelled out the ~$700 to convert all the computers in my house to Windows 7. Ever since then I've had a friend considering buying Windows 7.He recently took the plunge an invested in a copy of Ultimate (64-bit). I backed up his personal data, formatted and Installed a clean copy of Windows 7. On first boot I ran Windows Update (his hardware was all supported by Windows) and did the required restart. During the restart, the computer Blue-Screened, restarts automatically, entered startup repair the second time, "fixes it", and the cycle starts again.So I figure "Okay, one of the updates is bad." I reformat and reinstall again, and the computer first-boots normally again. Just to test I restart the computer and the bsod/repair cycle starts again.I finally gave up for the time being and just reinstall Vista 64-bit on their again and it works fine. His is the only computer I've had this happen to, and I've installed 7 on about 12 other computers so far.

I have 5 updates that fail to install. I have also tried to manually install them, but they still fail Here are the updates:

The error code I get is "800736B3". I ran MS FIXIT and it said they did not detect any problems.

I have a new toshiba satellite p870 that came with windows 8 and I would like to install windows 7 on its second hard drive for compatibility reasons. Every time I try to boot from the windows 7 setup disc it gets stuck on the "starting windows" logo screen and will not proceed. I have tried both booting from the disc and doing a custom install from inside windows 8 with the same result. It was necessary to disable secure boot in the bios in order to get the disc to begin to boot. This computer has 2 hard drives and I am attempting to install windows 7 to a partition on the second drive (the main drive had an error about GPT). I am using a windows 7 professional disc received from microsoft a few years ago to avoid burning a new disc. I have set up dual boot on several other computers but this one is different, Is there anything I can do to get this to work?
