New Install - Forgot Key - In _old Folder From Previous Install?
Jun 4, 2011my Windows 7 professional install seemed kind of lame after some years so I decided to install a new and clean one. I noted down the product-ID from my computers properties because I thought that was the key (right next to it it says change key, so I thought that must be the key).After the new install I realied that it is not equivalent to the key as the ID has less letters.Is there a chance to get the key from the "old" folder that is generated if you install a new windows over an old one?Or is there a chance to get to the key from the product ID? because I have no clue where I put the key..

Jan 5, 2011I have recent backups (using Macrium Reflect) of both my Vista install and my Windows 7 install, and BOTH are still resident on the main hard drive.Problem is that since the Mobo is LONG out of production, I've bit the bullet and will be replacing is with a new Mobo, processor, memory, audio, and video hardware (new Mobos come with the latter builtin).That means I can't simply plugin the drive, reboot, and be up and working.I've read some info on Paragon's Virtualization Manager -- which appears to be able to migrate an install from one set of hardware to another -- but I'm guessing you need to do the "from" migration first, which I can't do because my machine is dead.
1) Migration -- apart from reinstalling from scratch, is there any way to resurrect my previous install?
2) Installation -- I have both the 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 Pro DVDs, and am thinking about installing using the 64-bit. Have read the post about doing a clean install using an "upgrade" DVD (which mine is), so I presume that will go well -- as long as I don't enter a product key.
3) Reactivation -- I'm presuming this will fail (since I already activated the 32-bit version) -- but will an online attempt, or call to MS, take care of this for me? Or am I facing the prospect of having to buy a new copy of Windows 7 Pro?

Nov 25, 2011so i custom/clean installed windows 7 ultimate from usb, formatted through the windows installer, and deleted all pervious partitions. i then installed windows.windows created two partitiions one primary and one "for backup drivers" a total of 100mb. for some reason though it still shows me all my previous programs?like microsoft office 2007, wich actually is disabling my office 2010.hat i want to do is totally clear the hard drive so that i really only have windows 7 ultimate on it. similiar i guess to task 29ing my old htc touch pro

Nov 3, 2009I bought a new Toshiba laptop (L300-1DN) for someone this year and they have Vista SP2 on it (obviously fully included with Toshiba drivers etc. which are also on a recovery disk). There is an option to buy an upgrade version for Vista users of Win 7 HP, but I have already bought a full version of Win 7 Pro, and my preference is a clean install as I'm not too sure about the success rate of upgrades and efficiency of the new operating system afterwards...
Therefore if I do a clean install of Win 7 Pro, what's the situation regarding drivers? I was told that Win 7 has many manufacturers' drivers built into it's kernel and that any manual update of drivers should be minimal?
Install On Toshiba L300-1DN
Dec 6, 2009I will have the chance to move a Toshiba Satellite L300-1DN from Vista HP (pre-installed) to Windows 7 Pro (clean install).
Am in two minds about this and would like to see significantly less CPU use to make it worth it otherwise I will save my disk for another project.
Also has anyone had experience of clean installs of Windows 7 on Toshiba laptops with Vista on them and are there any functionality problems to watch out for in this process?
Toshiba Drivers Work Under SP3 / But INSTALLER Does Not
Apr 23, 2011I have come up against an issue with XP mode which loads XP SP3.The Toshiba drivers work under SP3. but the INSTALLER does not!!It will install on any XP2 machine, but not the XP3 Virtual machine withing XP Mode.How can I 'roll back' XP SP3 that Microsoft sold me with windows 7 to XP2 status - there is no UPGRADE folder or anything similar so must be an integrated build??I have loads of stuff painstaking loaded on the XPE now so dont really want to, nor am in confident in how to, do another Virtual machine with XP SP2 even if I knew where to get hold of a copy without spending more money.
