How to find out what type of Windows memory diagnostics test was chosen. I know that the results are psoted in windows event log but I don't know which number or line corresponds to what type of test was used (standard , default or extended). I don't remember what type I've chosen and I really would like to know how to determine it by files in event log.
View 6 Repliesrecently from past one month i am having low memory problem. i need to restart my laptop and every things ok for sometime. i have kaspersky internet security and also i did a malware check using malware bytes. nothing came up. i also notice that when playing movies in Internet or vlc the computer the video seems to freeze for about two seconds and back to normal. i am adding the dump files and also a screenshot of resource monitor. my laptop seems very slow for the past month as well. i did a windows memory diagnostics and everything was fine.
here are the specs of my laptop:

processor: intel i3 m330 2.13 ghz
ram: 3gb
system: 64 bit

View 0 Replies View RelatedI am trying to diagnose a problem with my machine, and in so doing I have run memtest overnight (to test all 8GB of RAM--which takes about 12 hours). However, I've read various places that memtest is only reliable testing one stick at a time (I have 4x2GB). I didn't get any errors in 7 passes with all memory in. Does this mean that I'm fine, or should I go back and test each individually?

So I have a Laptop with 4gb of DDR2-800 SDRAM
I have done the winsat mem test and get a result of 3700 mb/s on average.
I also notice that my memory is never above 2gb used.
So whats the deal? is my system running the way it should be memory wise? Do allot of people use only half their memory? is 3700mb/s what is to be expected from my memory? Because I see ALLOT faster times from the memory assessment sticky post (I know that some of them are from monster systems and you cant compare...but 3700 seems slow compared to others.
I have a HP Probook 4530swith Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. When I turn on the PC the windows does'nt start and give a option of starting windows manually, which does'nt work, and repair windows. I've been using my Ps3 controller as an alternative to an Xbox 360 controller on my PC (to play games with a gamepad) but in order to use my Ps3 controller as a makeshift 360 controller, I need test signing enabled.
Unfortunately with test signing enabled I get a big ugly watermark at the bottom right of my screen, as far as I know the only way to disable this is to disable test signing, otherwise it just won't leave! Is there any way I can get past this and somehow keep driver test signing enabled but get rid of that horrid watermark ruining my gorgeous wallpaper?

In the details it said the diagnostic file was 'restricted'.I searched around for answers and found a suggestion to run 'sfc/scannow' in an elevated command prompt. The file checker reported no 'integrity violations' but the Windows Network Diagnostics tool suddenly worked! (in the 2 year life of my Sony Vaio I don't recall it ever working before).The problem: when I next turn on my computer after it has been shut down, the Windows Network Diagnostics tool has stopped working again - unless I run 'sfc/scannow' - then it runs fine. View 0 Replies View RelatedI have recently run a virus scanner from mcaffee stinger. I had several virusus and it removed them. Although there gone I had just booted my laptop and it wont let me connect to the internet. It said limited access on the icon. I troubleshooted the windows network diagnostics and it said this. Problem found windows could not automatically detect this networks proxy settings. Whatever I try to run as administrator it will come up with an error saying
C:/Windows/system32/cmd.exe <-that was an example the name changes for different items.
I basically cant use it at all now. I go to the control panel and click right click properties to disable and it will come up with the same error. It also said windows has encountered an error saving the wireless profile specific error: the data is invalid.
All of the sudden, I cannot view any (and I've tried many) images using Windows Photo Viewer. When I double click on an image, Photo Viewer pops up with the following message:"Windows Photo Viewer can't display this picture because there might not be enough memory available on your computer. Close some programs that you aren't using or free some hard disk space (if it's almost full), and then try again."First off, I have never been even close to low on ram or disk space at any point I have tried to view an image, and in the past I could be running SolidWorks with huge assemblies open, and I could have large images open in viewer without a problem. (is this really just more of a bug?) I saw some "solutions" regarding settings in color management, but none of them worked. The only other thing that might be relevant is, I do frequently plug the HDMI output into my TV, during which it switches to just a solo monitor output to the TV. I still get the same error when using the TV though.And in case it matters, I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 on a Samsung RC512 with 6G of ram and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M.

I know that bad voltage settings may cause a bad mem test and BSODS. wrong CL settings may have a similar effect ?
When I type in Word 2010, frequently my keyboard will refuse to type. It will type a couple letters and then I have to wait to get it to go on. Then it will type a few more, etc. Another time it will type without an issue.I have changed the battery.

When I try to open them, PS says they are .jpg.1 or. jpg.2. How do I get rid of the .1 and .2 so they become normal JPG photo files?I can look at them with Windows Photo Viewer but I can't figure out how to convert them to normal JPG files.

Diagnostics show nothing wrong with the storage drive, nor anything else that I can think of. At first I thought it must have been due to me accidentally deleting a file, or not really having saved it as I thought that I had, but I now know that is not the case. I'm accustomed to what usually happens when a file becomes corrupted, it just becomes unusable, but still remains visible to the file manager and other programs, but I'm wondering if it might totally disappear?
